Awesome experience with a small group of 6. Adrian is an expert in olive oil and the tasting was very informative. We tasted 5 different olive oils going from very mild and fruity to stronger and 3 types of infused olive oils, all of which were delicious.

This olive oil tasting was one of the highlights of our trip to Cordóba. Our host Mara was lovely. She has told as so much about olive oil we didn’t know yet. Super informative, great combo of learning and tasting. Excellent olive oils and some great unexpected combo’s as well. Would 10/10 recommend!

Good way to sample local foods from the region and understand pairings of wines, olive oolong, meats and cheeses.

This is a quaint, local experience. We were the only 2 guests on our booking date. The market is small and the tasting is within a personal apartment, lower level. The olive oils were fabulous and generously poured !! Breakfast is just tea or coffee with olives. Guide had good knowledge of the olive oils.

    Something else we can recommend.

    Elma_B, Apr 2025
It was very informative with an excellent guide. We expected a bigger breakfast but it was enjoyable.

    Very good experierence

Mara was so passionate and knowledgable about the olive oils and local products. Our entire group agreed it was a wonderful morning. Highly recommend for something a bit different.

Who knew olive oil came in so many varieties?

    Diane_N, Feb 2025
This was a unique highlight of my trip to Spain. The guide knew the olive oil business inside and out, explained the varieties of trees, when and how olives are picked and processed to create many different flavors and undertones. She was a great teacher and it was fun!

    Informative and fun

This was an excellent tour. Started with learning about Spanish produce in the market then went to a tasting room to try several olive oils and a dessert wine. It was so much fun and our guide, Barbara, was very friendly and knowledgeable and even helped us with some useful Spanish phrases. Definitely recommend - even if you don't initially think you care much about olive oil.

Great introduction to olive oil culture!

We walked through a local market and our guide pointed out some of the typical Córdoban foods, then went to their tasting room and tried a variety of olive oils. Our guide, Bárbara, was very sincere, and young, and part of a family that makes wine and olive oil.

Definitely a must do to try Spains many olive oils

    Carol_D, Dec 2024
Barbara met us promptly under the plaza clock (flush against the building) at 11am. From our starting point there at the market we took a quick tour then off to her private location to taste the olive oil. We both were provided coffee or tea, water, a loaf of bread and some olives. Not exactly breakfast but she graciously brought us back to the market once the tour was over so we could buy cheese and meat for our journey. Barbara was very knowledgeable about the olives and the entire process. We learned many new things. We were able to purchase the olive oil once we were done. She does not provide shipping home. The olive oils we tasted were like no others we've had in the U.S. She also does wine tastings. A charming young lady with much knowledge and enthusiasm for her family's products.

    Excellent, super experience

Mara, the guide was very nice, energetic, experienced, and gave us a detailed information on the whole process of olive oil production, and comsumption. It was great!

    Great short tour

Barbara was charming and a great host. We really enjoyed her tour. It gave us a different insight and a fun activity which made a change from the usual city break schedule

    Not a full breakfast

    Nicole_R, Jul 2024
Let me start off by saying our Hostess Barbara was amazing. She is kind, sweet, and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the title of this tour is very misleading. I specifically asked if we would be having breakfast and was told yes so I didn’t have a proper breakfast which is needed for my specific dietary needs and needing to take morning meds. I went with my 19 yo daughter. The breakfast consisted of a small freshly bake baguette (which was absolutely delicious) to try with the olive oils and a few olives. The olive oils were all really good. The tour consisted of a visit to an open air market and then to the bakery where we got the rolls. Our tasting space was a basement area. Not super glamorous or really nice. Needed to be dusted and updated a bit. A good bit of history to be learned. Recommend either bringing food to eat with tasting or eating beforehand.

    Interesting, engaging and delicious

Barbara was very knowledgeable and engaging. We learnt a lot about olive oil and the tastings were amazing.

Similar to other reviews, go to olive oil store for more in-depth learning and tasting. Market closed and dry bread took away from tasting

    Disappointing, not really breakfast

    Maia_G, Nov 2023
There are several different olive oil tasting experiences in Cordoba, and I picked this one because the market tour and breakfast sounded like a bonus on top of the tasting. Unfortunately, it was not really up to my expectations. The market is very small compared to markets I’ve been to in other cities/countries, and there is not much to see. Only a handful of stalls were open, but even if every stall had been occupied, it would still have been a tiny market. Not much to tour. Our guide provided some local commentary as we walked through the streets to her tasting room, including a brief stop at a bakery where she bought a few rolls, which was interesting. Like the market, the tasting itself was disappointing. When we arrived at the tasting room, she explained that we were going to have a field worker’s breakfast, which meant Nescafé (instant coffee), and that the breakfast itself was going to consist of sopping up olive oil with the rolls purchased during the walk. She talked a bit about the olive oil production process, and then poured a small amount of oil onto our plates with instructions to sop it up with the bread. Personally, I’m a big fan of olive oil with bread. We eat bread and olive oil like this all the time at home. However, the bread interferes with your ability to fully taste the oil, beyond the strongest notes (peppery, etc.). So it wasn’t really an olive oil *tasting*. The breakfast was just a few tablespoons of olive oil and a single roll, plus some green table olives and a swallow of sherry at the very end. When tasted plain, the oils were nothing special, as well. At the end, we were still hungry because we didn’t eat *beforehand* because we expected something more substantial. The tour was very inexpensive so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised that the breakfast was so sparse. Later that afternoon, we walked past a olive oil specialty store elsewhere in Cordoba that offered a tasting and we decided do that to make up for the disappointment. I won’t name it here but it turned out to be excellent. If you are really interested in olive oil, skip this tour and breakfast, and do a store tasting instead.

    Ho hum experience

Our guide changed the start time to 30 minutes earlier than what we had booked. Didn’t ask if it was okay and made us feel silly for arriving late. Tour was not as informative as I would have liked. Beware that the breakfast is dipping bread in various olive oils and instant coffee.

    Tasty!

Mara was engaging and informative. The olive oil was excellent and the “little grapes” at the end was tasty. We learned a lot and enjoyed meeting our fellow travelers.

    Loved it!

Mara took us through a wonderful journey in Cordoba all cantered around her passion: olive oil! We learnt a lot about olive oil, as well as life in Andalusia and the importance of local produce to local people. We tried an array of different flavoured olive oils. The only downside: we could not take them all home!

    Well worth it

Unfortunately the market was closed, but the tasting itself was excellent! I never knew olives had so many different profiles.

It was a great and authentic experience. I hope it will reach more people. Just feeling and hearing the sound of olives.

    I would do it again!

Very informative! Mara answered all of our questions, and we had a lot of them! Loved her approach for the day, and we learned a lot of helpful things about olive oil and more!! Would absolutely recommend!

A morning class on olive oil

    Mark_R, Dec 2022
Ok so this whole experience was such a refreshing break from all the normal touristy things. By the time we did this, we had been in Spain about 11 days and it was so refreshing to hear from an insider what this world of olive oil is really about. She said, as we were walking through the market, that there are many varieties of tomatoes, so why do we assume there is only 1 kind of olive oil? Of course - but how often do we Americans think about that? She walked us through the market, choosing olives, bread, and explaining some of the food options there. We walked to her house and went to her rooftop and the table was set and ready for a presentation on olive oil. I don't know that I would call it breakfast, but it was morning, and we had coffee, so I can see why she called it breakfast. She let us try different olive oils, with a combination of flavors, honey, olives and it was divine! Mara was clearly passionate about what she knows about olive oil!
