Very well planned. Had a dedicated train car from COBH to Cork then a bus to Blarney and back to COBH. They had staff at each connection to make it clear and easy. Guide provided a good mixture of information and guided walks and free time.

We enjoyed our visit to the Blarney castle with our awesome guide Richie and driver Tim who maneuvered the coach with ease through tough areas. We would definitely recommend this tour! We even got an added bonus by Tim taking us to a cemetery and St Coleman‘s Cathedral that was not listed in the description of the tour so we got to see more than what was expected.

Definitely worth the hype!

Amy_M, Sep 2026
Our tour guide Andrew was very nice and informative. He told us a lot of info and always made sure we were ok. Visited the Blarney Castle. The line up was very long almost an Hour. But the experience was fun. Kissing the rock was quite uneasy as you had to go upside down. But lots of people did it. I think it’s worth the hype. The garden was beautiful. The tour was fun especially they had a private train just for this tour. Very close from the cruise port to meet up. Strongly recommended rather than doing with the cruise ship.

We really enjoyed our **Cork and Blarney Castle excursion from Cobh by train**. It was a great way to see and learn about the area while visiting from the cruise ship. The excursion starts at the train station in Cobh, where a train is brought in specifically for this tour. One thing we really appreciated was that the train makes special arrangements for the excursion, so you don’t have to follow the train’s normal stops and schedule. After the train ride, we transferred to a bus where our guide shared information about the area, its history, and what to expect at Blarney Castle. Our guide did a wonderful job providing history and interesting information throughout the day. We learned about the Titanic’s connection to the area, the jail, the cathedral, and even stopped at a cemetery where our guide shared the story of those who lost their lives in the Lusitania disaster. The countryside we traveled through was beautiful, and the bus ride gave us a great opportunity to see more of Ireland beyond the immediate tourist areas. The biggest thing to be aware of is that the time at Blarney Castle is limited, especially if you are visiting during a busy time of year. When we arrived, the wait to enter the castle was already about 90 minutes. We decided not to wait, while three couples in our group chose to wait and were still able to make it back to the bus on time. However, they didn’t have time to explore the grounds. The grounds are absolutely stunning! There are so many different gardens and areas to explore, each with its own unique character. We were glad we had the opportunity to experience them, even though it meant choosing the gardens over going inside the castle. Overall, we would highly recommend this excursion. It was well organized, informative, and a wonderful way to experience more of Ireland from Cobh. Just be aware that depending on the time of year and the crowds, you may have to choose between spending your limited time waiting to see the castle or exploring the incredible gardens and grounds. For us, the beautiful scenery, history, and overall experience made it well worth it!

Can't give up the chance to kiss the Blarney Stone. The wait was about an hour and it was good that Richard, our guide had advised to head to the castle to get that task done. Noel was our driver and got us all back safely.

Climb for nothing

Bruce_G, Aug 2026
Very beautiful gardens around the castle. Not much to see in castle as it is unfurnished. Steps u to Blarney Rock are steep and over a hundred steps. It’s a slow go though due to crowd. Otherwise just to kiss Blarney rock not much reason to climb.

Blarney Castle

Sallyanne_P, Aug 2026
This was a very nice excursion. Our tour guides Rich and Andrew were lovely gentlemen. We enjoyed talking with them. The tour started right off the ship and so we did not have far to walk. The gardens at the Blarney Castle were beautiful. We also had time to shop and get a bite to eat. Unfortunately, a woman forgot her cellphone at the castle, and we lost about 45 minutes waiting for her to retrieve it, so we did not get to tour the cathedral in Cobh at the end. People were not happy about this; however, it was very nice of the driver to accommodate her. All in all, I would definitely recommend this excursion.

Tour guides fun and informative.

Kim_P, Aug 2026
This was a very interesting tour; the train ride was informative and so easy to get to. You get off the ship and walk to the train station, could not have been easier. After train ride we took a bus to Blarney Castle, our guide (Richie) and driver (Tim) were very informative and fun. We were not actually able to enter Blarney Castle due to the wait time, but we toured the gardens and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Great time

We would highly recommend it Andrew our narrator gave us the best insight he could thank you very much

Great trip

Charles_M, Aug 2026
Great excursion. You can either get in line to kiss, visit the barney stone or view the beautiful gardens. We did not have time.for both. Lots of shopping which we could not do either. Andrew and Dan our bus driver were fantastic! Highly recommend

Excellent tour

Deena_D, Aug 2026
Had a wonderful time with our guide Andrew and driver Martin. Andrew's knowledge of the scenery and history was fascinating. He did a terrific job helping navigate the bus around unexpectedly closed streets. Andrew was friendly and fun and made us feel right at home in Ireland. We went to Blarney castle and Andrew helped those who wished to get to the line to kiss the stone. The rest of us he helped find good shopping and food. We also visited a very historic cemetery that Andrew shared many interesting facts about. Maybe the best part was visiting a 20th century cathedral that was absolutely magnificent. And it was so close to the shore that we got a great view of the cruise ships. Definitely recommend this tour whole heartedly. Thank you Andrew and Martin for a terrific day!! Deedi & Tammy

My husband and I got right off the cruise ship where they were waiting for us at the train station then to a bus to blarney castle. Our tour guide Andrew and Martin the driver were excellent and knowledgeable. I will say be prepared to wait at least 90 mins to kiss the stone but we ended up just walking the grounds. The tour took us all around cork as well.

Cork experience

Alejandro_V, Jul 2026
Great host (Andrew), very kind and friendly. Tour around the City was very interesting. A better option than cruise alternatives

Very nice tour beginning...

KATHERINE_W, Jul 2026
Very nice tour beginning with the train and ending with a bus tour to Blarney Castle and a tour of Cobn. The guide was knowledgeable and professional. It was very nice to see the countryside of Ireland with added tidbits of history along the way.

Not good

Susan_B, Jul 2026
Extremely crowded and unpleasantly hot on our bus (10 degrees Celsius hotter inside than outside- it was 34 degrees inside)

Extreme heat wasn’t handled well

Amy_H, Jul 2026
We happened to have extremely hot weather (over 90 degrees F) on the day of our tour. Since we were part of a cruise, there were three large buses picking us up from the train and taking us to the Blarney Castle and other stops. Our bus had no a/c and no windows that opened. The temperature soared; we were miserable. There were several elderly and/or disabled passengers on the tour, too. I feel the bus temp was so hot that it bordered on dangerous. The tour company should have either transferred us to a bus with a/c or cancelled the trip. (Note: The tour guide was very knowledgeable; however, the extreme temps made it very difficult to focus.)

Beautiful Day at Blarney Castle

Courtney_F, May 2026
This was a great way to visit Blarney Castle from Cobh without worrying about transportation or timing back to the ship. The tour starts right at the Cobh train station next to the cruise port, making it very easy to find. Staff members were friendly, organized, and did an excellent job checking everyone in and explaining what to expect before boarding. The train ride itself was comfortable and scenic. Blarney Castle and the surrounding grounds were definitely the highlight of the day. The gardens are peaceful, beautifully maintained, and really make you feel transported back in time. Climbing the narrow stone staircase to kiss the Blarney Stone was a fun experience, and we appreciated that the posted wait times along the route were very accurate. After exploring the castle and grounds, we had time to walk through the village, grab something to eat, and enjoy the area before continuing the tour. The remainder of the excursion through Cork and back to the ship was informative and relaxed. We’re glad we chose this excursion and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Cobh by cruise ship.

Tour with Paul O’Neill was excellent. Organizing with personnel at train station was unorganized and confusing!!!

I enjoyed myself, but it...

Printessa_L, May 2026
I enjoyed myself, but it was too much time spent inside the castle. I wish I had more time to look in shops & time to sit down & eat .

Response from Host, May 2026

Hi Printess, Thanks for your 3-star review. We allocate sufficient time at Blarney Castle for our guests to explore the grounds, gardens, shops and the castle itself at their own pace. You can spend as long as you wish at any part of Blarney, whether that be the castle or at the restaurants and shops. You could have vacated the castle at any time to allow for more time in shops/ to sit down and eat. All the best, The Railtours Ireland Team

A great experience

Shane_C, Apr 2026
It was a great experience, the driver of the bus gave us a lot of time at each stop. The only bad thing was even though he gave us enough time at Blarney Castle, we didn't think it was enough to get up to the Blarney Stone and still see more of the grounds

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Dear Shane, Thank you for your great review! We are so glad you enjoyed the tour. We hope to welcome you back again some day! Kind regards, The Railtours Ireland Team

Blarney’s Castle Adventure.

Jeffrey_T, Apr 2026
Our tour guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable and approachable with questions. He took his time to answer everyone’s questions. The train ride was a different twist but overall it added to the charm. Our bus driver was outstanding. I drive a large vehicle on small mountain roads so I respect how well our driver did with a large bus on these little roads. Outstanding. There’s nothing Viator can do about it but my only regret is that we have more time to explore and see the property.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Dear Jeffrey, Thank you so much for your glowing review! We are delighted to hear you enjoyed the tour, and that the train travel added to the experience. We hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back on tour with us soon! Kind regards, The Railtours Ireland Team https://railtoursireland.com/

Excellent excursion. The trip was informative and historical. It was nice to not worry about tickets or catching a cab

Great tour!!

Wendy_B, Sep 2025
It was a great tour. It covered many interesting locations, including the Blarney Castle. It gave a great overview of Cork. Andrew, the guide, was so knowledgeable and entertaining and kind. Darrin was an amazing driver and also very kind. I would highly recommend this tour. Great value for the price.

Local Indepth Insights

An outstanding tour. What made it special was the tour guide, a local man who truly knows this history and has personal experience with the area. I learned a lot about Irish history and am inspired to learn more when I get home.

by Train!

Maryanne_W, Aug 2025
We chose this tour because doing a little travel by train was appealing. Easy to find our yellow jacket guide at the train station. Was an enjoyable, stress free adventure with Andrew and our bus driver William. If you have a bigger shoe size than me you might experience a little stress going up and down the castle steps but may be worth the bragging rights of hanging over on your back to kiss the Blarney Stone!

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Dear Maryanne, Thank you for your wonderful review! We are delighted to hear you enjoyed our Blarney Castle, Cork & Cobh One Day Tour! Your complimentary remarks about the logistics, Andrew, and William, are much appreciated and will be passed on. We hope to welcome you back on tour with us soon! It was a lot of climbing...

Janice_B, Aug 2025
It was a lot of climbing stairs but it was worth the climb to kiss the Blarney stone. The tour guide was knowledgeable

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Dear Janice, Thank you for your 4* review. We appreciate your complimentary remark about the tour guide. When visiting Blarney Castle, it is entirely optional to climb the stairs to kiss the stone. There are some wonderful gardens on the grounds which our guests can enjoy alternatively. All the best, The Railtours Ireland Team

Great time!

Amy_B, Aug 2025
Andrew was a wonderful host and so funny! He was informative and personable. Ellie was an impressive driver. I couldn’t believe how she was able to get that big bus in and out of places and we always felt safe. The stops gave us ample time and I never felt rushed which is why I usually don’t like guided tours.
