Itinerary

Your day starts with morning pickup at Brisbane Transit Centre and a scenic drive through Numinbah Valley with views of Mt Tamborine. Approximately 62 miles (100 km) south of Brisbane, you reach Springbrook National Park, which lies within the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage area.

Follow your guide on a hike that takes you into the rainforest and past waterfalls in this lush landscape. Hear about the region’s diverse wildlife, which includes more than 1,700 species of flowering plants and 500 vertebrate animals. Keep an eye out for pademelons (similar to wallabies), goannas, Australian water dragons and Australian brush-turkeys.

Near the arched rock of Natural Bridge, you can see Cave Creek waterfall as it plunges into a pool below as well as a cave with glow worms, which resemble tiny stars on the cave walls. Be on the lookout for Australian wildlife such as rosellas, king parrots, bowerbirds and kangaroos.

In the afternoon, take a guided tour of the Tamorine Mountain Glow Worm Caves at Cedar Creek, for your final rainforest walk of the day. See an audio-visual display on glow worms, whose brilliant blue-green lights are actually emitted by the tiny larvae of a fungus fly. Step inside the second cave filled with thousands of glowing worms!

Stroll along the Curtis Falls track, a moderately challenging 1-mile (1.6-km) trail that includes 101 steps. Descend beneath towering gum trees to the viewing platform over Curtis Creek, then continue down to a second platform overlooking a waterfall that cascades into a large rock pool.

After the drive back to Brisbane, you're dropped off at your original departure point.

We had James as our tour guide for the day and he had lots of knowledge to share with us throughout both the journey, and the activity itself. I also found him very humerous. We had a mixed range of nationalities on our bus and thankfully, they all seemed very friendly which made a change. It is hard to remember everything about that day as there was so much to learn and see, but it was a lovely trip and one I would recommend. The Glow Worms were not what I expected at all. I thought they would be a bit like our slow worms in the UK but that glowed in the dark, but they were nothing like them. They were so tiny.

Good tour with a bit of chatter

Shahin_M, Mar 2026
Overall it was a nice tour. My only recommendation is for the tour guide to allow a little bit of down time (even 10 minutes) for people to just rest. Sometime less is more. Also, there was way too much focus on finding birds or other creatures. I'm personally not a birder and don't need each bird in the forest identified. Again, some of it is ok, but too much time spent on hunting down animals.

Fun Tambourine Day!

All the sites were extremely beautiful and if you don't have your own transportation this is a great option to get you out of the city and off to remote sites you would otherwise not get to see.

Lots of wildlife

Brigitte_S, Feb 2026
Very knowledgeable guide. We had a beautiful day in the rainforest, with easy hikes and the guide pointed out lots of animals. We saw Koalas in the wild, kangaroos and wallabies. Lizards and birds. He knew exactly where to look and to go. Highly recommended.

Excellent tour and guide who cares a lot and drives well!

Anna_M, Feb 2026
Excellent experience with guide James, who clearly loves what he does and is passionate about the natural beauty found near Brisbane. He greeted me welcomingly at the meeting point. His driving was very safe and he curated the group to be cohesive. The minibus was clean and with working seatbelts and comfortable seats. This was a lovely tour of natural surroundings that respects the environment and wildlife. We saw 3, three! koalas in the wild, several native birds, a scrub turkey, a 'patty" (baby wallaby), GLOW WORMS, mini bats, tree frogs, and kangaroos - NO zoos involved. And - even saw a manmade glow worm sanctuary with some frogs, insects, and snakes in terrariums. Started and ended on time. Plenty of clean restrooms throughout the tour! I also enjoyed the stop in Tambourine to have lunch. The stop at the Dam had an amazing cafe- which was unexpected and delightful for afternoon tea and a snack. Thanks James!

Waterfall tour Tamborine Mountain

Noeleen_S, Feb 2026
Was a fantastic day, our guide James was very knowledgeable on the flora and fauna of each area we stopped, we even saw several koala's in their native habitat along the way. Was a great day with a great group of people.

Melanie_W, Jan 2026
Great way to see the subtropical rainforest. The waterfalls and Natural bridge were great to see and enjoy. However, it was the Glow worm cave tour that really made this tour extra special. Not something one can see many places and this man-made cave is an exceptional experience. Only real drawback to this tour was the amount of time necessary in the tour bus to get down and back from Brisbane.

Great day exploring!

Michelle_L, Jan 2026
Great trip and our guide Shane was awesome! Knowledgeable and took an interest in getting to know everyone in the group. Just the right length of time for a daily excursion and lots of great stops to see the areas around Brisbane.

Rebecca_V, Jan 2026
We really enjoyed seeing some of the little gems in the national rain forests -- it was a great opportunity to get out of the city. Keep in mind that there is a bit of driving, and going up and down the hills means curves, so it might be helpful to take some motion sickness medication if you are prone to car sickness.

Highlights are...

Eddie_M, Jan 2026
Highlights are subtropical rainforest, glowing worms cave. If you’re not from Asia, the different topography would be interesting. Otherwise, it’s ordinary and definitely not an eye opener.

Tambourine, Springbrook tour!

Amazing Tour with Knowledgeable Guide

Natalie_C, Oct 2025
This tour was worth the cost, especially if you do not have a car. Our guide, Shane, was extremely knowledgeable about the sites and wildlife. The tour was not rushed and allowed plenty of time to explore each location. The small group size also made this a valuable experience. If you are looking to visit multiple sites in one day, this is the tour you need. Yes, there is a significant amount of driving between each location, but that is to be expected when there are multiple stops. The hikes/walks were not challenging but I definitely recommend wearing good sneakers or hiking boots.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Hi Natalie, thank you so much for joining us and for sharing such a thoughtful review. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the day and found the variety of stops worthwhile. We love showcasing as much of the region as possible in one tour, so we really appreciate your understanding that a bit of driving comes with exploring so many beautiful spots. I’m glad the pace of the day felt relaxed and that you had plenty of time to enjoy each location, and thank you for the tip about comfortable footwear which is always a good idea for rainforest walks. It was a pleasure having you onboard and we hope to welcome you on another adventure when you are back in Brisbane.

A Great Day!!!

Janet_P, Oct 2025
Our guide Pete was great. The tour involves some hiking but you see some spectacular views. Pete explained lots about the jungle and made the trek very interesting. The glow worm cave was interesting and something very unique to see. A great day!!!

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Hi Janet, Thank you for your lovely review. We’re so glad you enjoyed the day and that Pete made the experience interesting and enjoyable. The walks through the rainforest and the glow worm cave are definitely highlights, and it’s great to hear you appreciated the stunning views and Pete’s knowledge along the way. We really appreciate your recommendation and hope to see you on another Queensland Day Tours adventure soon.
