Overview
Explore Volcán Barú National Park on this half-day guided hiking tour. After a 25-minute drive, you’ll reach the start of the Pipeline Trail, which is about 2.8 miles (4.5 kilometers) roundtrip. Along the way, discover the cloud forest that surrounds the perimeter of the park. The trail features old-growth trees, bridges over a creek, and rare animal species, such as the quetzal, sloths, and monkeys.

Jaime was an amazing guide, he just knew the place inside and out. He explained so much to us and made the whole hike very interesting. Unfortunately we got very unlucky with the weather with heavy rain almost all day but that’s just weather.

Jaime was extraordinary knowledgeable. My daughter who hung back when we headed back saw both a male and female quetzal! Jaime recognized its call and there they were! It was a thrill!

I know these hikes/tours don’t guarantee wildlife sightings, but the advertisement said we could see monkeys, sloths, snakes and/or birds. We saw a bird, not THE bird we were looking to see, but there was nothing else. A couple bugs, the guide was knowledgeable about the flora, but i would recommend just doing the hike by yourself.

The description is very misleading! It states that you’ll hike around the Baru Volcano national park and see lots of birds, monkeys and sloths, but that’s not the case.
The trail only reaches the edge of the park and you cannot see the volcano at all! Also, the guide was obsessed with pointing out bugs and parasite plants at the lower (less nice) part of the trail, and then we raced to the end and did not spend enough time in the cloud forest part to be able to see the promised animals! There were a few ‘quetzal habitat’ spots with benches, but the guide just wanted to race on. Of the 220 birds they tell you live there, we only saw 2 humming birds!
While it was an enjoyable walk, it was not what we expected!

The trail is in the park, wildlife is not guaranteed to see everyday. All other reviews really enjoy the trip.

Our tour guide Haime was great and a perfect fit for us. He has a lot of knowledge about the forest of bedder his „backyard“. This simply explains how much into it he is. Always again!

Guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area and eco system. We learned a lot. Be prepared for rain - but that’s all part of the experience. Highly recommend especially as an introduction to the area if you haven’t been here before.

Jaime led us on a hike that the average person could do without much effort. Trail is beautiful with many creeks, plants, flowers and the occasional bird and small lizard sighting. Jaime was well informed and very friendly.

It was a lovely 4 mile round trip hike. We saw birds and butterflies, learned about a variety of plants and saw a family of howler monkeys. We really enjoyed our trip.

This was a great hike at a slow pace with our guide pointing out and explaining the wildlife, plants, insects, birds and the history of the mountain area. Jaime was terrific and added a personal perspective as he was raised in the area. We enjoyed the tour and learned a lot.

Wonderful experience. Good hike and our guide was great! The one thing we wish we got up close to was a waterfall. We thought we would but did not. We saw a lot of different trees, hummingbirds, and just all the nature.

We didn't count on seeing birds and wildlife because, well, it's nature, but our guide was very knowledgable and enthusiastic about the eco system and was able to share lots of knowledge

This was a reasonable walk but it isn't really a hike. It's a very gentle stop start walk where you are only really looking for sloths, monkeys or quetzal (we had to find other birds etc ourselves). Our trip had a slightly more senior group so it was frustratingly slow at times. If you're a fit active hiker wanted to see plenty, I'd look elsewhere but if you want a slow amble, it might be just the ticket.

We hiked the Pipeline Trail, which was an easy hike along a pretty route. What made this hike exceptional was our guide, Jaime. He showed us so many different trees, plants and animals, taught us a huge amount, and let us spend extra time watching monkeys play in the trees. He loves the area and knows it like the back of his hand. No better guide out there. Shout out to Boquete Outdoor Adventures - all their activities are high quality, professional and led by knowledgeable staff.

Jaime was a great guide. He was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the plants and wildlife. There was no one else on our tour so he was very accommodating for our family of five which included a 5 year old and grandparents. The scenery was beautiful.

Jaime our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the trail we hiked and the surrounding area. The hike was not difficult, a modest 3 miles. My family really enjoyed the beauty of Cloud Forest and learning about the trail and it's nature. I would highly recommend.
