Great blend of info on Jane A and Bath. Ulrich is pleasant and extremely knowledgeable about Jane A and Bath. Highly recommend. We really enjoyed our tour.
Yuri did a very through job of the tour. He seemed to have a lot of knowledge to share. Disappointing that he did have any way to identify himself or the company. Given how much goes on out there not a good start. The tour mentions starting and stopping at the same place but when we reached the end time and we were nowhere close to the starting place he said I have another tour you can walk to this other place if you want. There were only 3 of us and it was hard to keep up with him. We got to the Jane Austen center and they said they were full. If this was part of the tour it was definitely a miss. Would have been good to know the route planned.

All in all not a fair comment.
After 2.1/2 hours walking it wouldn’t have been possible to walk another 1/2 hour to the starting point in this case .
The Jane Austen Centre can be overcrowded and full but this is clearly out of my control.
I am generally not mapping out all tour details in advance since I maintain a very off the beaten track itinerary and there are ‘copy cats’ in abundance.
I am a self employed Tour Guide and I do recall that I spoke to a member of the group how I started out .
Nevertheless I am glad that you seemed to still have enjoyed the tour.

The tour gave you a lot of the history of Bath and took you past a lot of historical sites, but did not really give you much insight into the life of Jane Austin…what motivated her to write the stories she did, inspirations, what it was like to be a woman fighting to be financially independent in a man’s world, funny anecdotes about her life.

You seemed to have had some expectations which move into categories outside the theme of this tour which focusses on Jane Austen’s life and time in Bath. However as you may have noticed there were quite extensive information given of the reasons and background why she did not have peace of mind in Bath to write any new novels and what she did instead etc etc So I would have loved to receive a bit of a fairer comment …..Anyway you seemed to have enjoyed the tour overall

Great review of Bath and Jane Austen at the same time. We saw the assembly hall where there was lots of dancing like in the books and movies. Ulrich was great.

This tour was great value. Our guide was knowledgeable and took us all over the town but we were not rushed. My teenagers didn’t appreciate it as much as my husband and I did. Wear good walking shoes!
We loved our tour with our guide. He shared so much more than just Jane Austen lore, we felt like we understood the history of Bath and its inhabitants.

My other guests on the same tour wondered as to why you booked my tour at all and I agree since you were not very interested in listening and more interested for me to find a phone shop for you to buy a charging cable! You are however invited to rejoin the tour at another time once you decide to arrive with an open mindset and then you would also not miss out on the most important part of the tour which you could not experience since you both left without a word having only participated for less than 1/3 of the tour and we were all wondering where all of a sudden you have disappeared to!

We had such an enjoyable afternoon! While we booked the Jane Austen tour, we learned so much about her and her life , but as a bonus we also we got to learn about Roman history, the Normans, architecture, the Beatles and more! What a delight, even in the rain!
Lovely tour of the city with knowledgeable guide. We were the only ones on his first tour of the day so it felt more like a private tour which was nice. Learned a lot about Jane Austen’s life but also about the city. Weather was beautiful which made it a perfect day.

It was a beautiful walk through Bath filled with great information. Our tour guide was the sweetest gentleman.
My morning tour with Ulrich was a delight. As it happens I was the only booking so it was a personalized experience. He is very knowledgeable and yet not overwhelming. The pace was just right as was the mix of Jane Austen tidbits and Bath history. Highly recommend.

Ulrich was very well informed and friendly. The weather was very poor, but Ulrich was happy to give us the tour anyway - at our discretion, with options to shelter and do a 'virtual tour' if we wanted to. We didn't, however, and had a nice time walking around Bath and hearing about the foundations of the city along with lots of Jane Austen titbits.

I was fortunate enough to have the guide all to myself! We grabbed our umbrellas, and off we went. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the area, the architecture and architects, and, of course, Jane Austen and her family! It was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend. There is no better way to spend 2.5 hours in Bath!

I had a lovely Jane Austin tour of bath with friendly tour guide who made the experience both personal and pleasurable. I really learned a lot about not only Jane Austin in Bath, but about the City itself.

Do not go to the Jane Austen Centre pictured on the ads. We made the mistake of thinking it commenced there, so missed the tour.

Hi William
As you certainly recall I called you at 10:35 asking where you were and you revealed that you were at the Jane Austen Centre thinking the tour would start there.
I explained to you that you obviously did not look at the tour booking site location description and Google map for the meeting point because if you did you would have noticed that the meeting point is in front of No 17 Bridge Coffee Shop on Pulteney Bridge.
I explained that it takes abt 20 min walk from the Jane Austen Centre to Pulteney Bridge and that I can’t wait any longer since I had five more travellers wanting to start the tour .now.
It therefore was unfortunate that you could not join .
However your review comment that the main tour photo is misleading is incorrect.
Correct is that you did not look at the description and map for the meeting point on the Viator booking site because if you did you would not have missed the tour.
I offered that you can rebook the tour any time for a free of charge tour since a refund is not possible for the missed tour in accordance with policy

A long, lovely walk with a very knowledgeable, friendly guide. Ulrich was very interactive, answering all our questions.
Wear comfortable shoes & bring water. It’s a lot of walking but we covered everything. Uriah was was very thorough.
