My morning tour with Ulrich was a delight. As it happens I was the only booking so it was a personalized experience. He is very knowledgeable and yet not overwhelming. The pace was just right as was the mix of Jane Austen tidbits and Bath history. Highly recommend.

Delightful, fully engrossing, wide ranging tour!

Amy_M, Apr 2026
We had such an enjoyable afternoon! While we booked the Jane Austen tour, we learned so much about her and her life , but as a bonus we also we got to learn about Roman history, the Normans, architecture, the Beatles and more! What a delight, even in the rain!

It is walking around. I cannot walk far. The guide told me about sights and I used a toot bus to see them. He also gave me a great map

Ulrich was very well...

Daniel_C, Feb 2026
Ulrich was very well informed and friendly. The weather was very poor, but Ulrich was happy to give us the tour anyway - at our discretion, with options to shelter and do a 'virtual tour' if we wanted to. We didn't, however, and had a nice time walking around Bath and hearing about the foundations of the city along with lots of Jane Austen titbits.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Dear Daniel Many thanks for this wonderful review, much appreciated. Ulrich

Lovely walking tour

Sarah_S, Feb 2026
Excellent tour of Bath with a very knowledgeable guide! I learned so much about the city of Bath and Jane Austen. It was very cool to walk the same streets Miss Austen did and imagine the city through her eyes.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you so much Sarah it was truly inspirational having had you on the tour!

The Best Way to Spend 2.5 Hours in Bath!

Laurel_S, Jan 2026
I was fortunate enough to have the guide all to myself! We grabbed our umbrellas, and off we went. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the area, the architecture and architects, and, of course, Jane Austen and her family! It was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend. There is no better way to spend 2.5 hours in Bath!

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Glad you truly appreciated the tour and thanks to have been such a wonderful traveler!

Kerry_C, Nov 2025
We had a super tour and would highly recommend. I feel that I have seen all of the places in Bath associated with Jane Austen and I have heard all of the background details of where she stayed. If you are interested in Jane Austen, you should go on this tour.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Thank you so much Kerry . I’m glad you both enjoyed the tour .

Picture is misleading

William_B, Oct 2025
Do not go to the Jane Austen Centre pictured on the ads. We made the mistake of thinking it commenced there, so missed the tour.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Hi William As you certainly recall I called you at 10:35 asking where you were and you revealed that you were at the Jane Austen Centre thinking the tour would start there. I explained to you that you obviously did not look at the tour booking site location description and Google map for the meeting point because if you did you would have noticed that the meeting point is in front of No 17 Bridge Coffee Shop on Pulteney Bridge. I explained that it takes abt 20 min walk from the Jane Austen Centre to Pulteney Bridge and that I can’t wait any longer since I had five more travellers wanting to start the tour .now. It therefore was unfortunate that you could not join . However your review comment that the main tour photo is misleading is incorrect. Correct is that you did not look at the description and map for the meeting point on the Viator booking site because if you did you would not have missed the tour. I offered that you can rebook the tour any time for a free of charge tour since a refund is not possible for the missed tour in accordance with policy Kind regards Ulrich

Great tour

Really good tour with a very knowledgeable guide. A fair amount of walking and some steep steps (both in the description prior to booking) if that’s a concern.

There is a fair amount of walking. Lots of information about Bath. Our guide even shared that he saw the Beatles perform in Munich in 1961 before they were known as the Beatles. Given options of Things to do along the tour. Great tour.

A gentle amble around Bath

Kerry_D, Sep 2025
The tour is very comprehensive, and covered many historical and modern aspects of Bath, not only the Jane Austen connection. I feel that if you just have time for one tour, then this one covers most of what you’d need to know. Ulrich was very knowledgeable and also relaxed, allowing time for questions and conversation.

Response from Host, Sep 2025

Wonderful walking tour of Bath

Michael_F, Sep 2025
Ulrich is very knowledgeable about Bath so don’t let his German accent confuse you. We visited her residence as well as many other sites in bath. It’s a lot of walking so be prepared for that.

Response from Host, Sep 2025
