What are people saying about Antigua

Great class with excellent chef and location
This was a fantastic experience. Milton took us thru the Antigua market which is huge, educating us on food and local produce. Once we bought our ingredients we traveled to the school: a gorgeous open kitchen and proceeded to prepare a three course meal of traditional Guatemalan dishes. We also sampled 7 local fruits that were in season. Milton was an excellent teacher and provided lots of information as we worked. The class is intimate: only 4 of us. I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn about Guatrmalan culture through food. We had a blast!

Lots of fun
So much fun! Was a great 2 hours spent learning, tasting, and making chocolate. We sang, we danced, we laughed, we learned a lot of history, and best of all got to try the different ways a cacao bean is prepared and left with a bag full of chocolate :)

I originally booked the...
I originally booked the 10:30 course cooking class, but on the day of the class, the host let me know I would be the only participant and offered to move me to a later time. I appreciated being given the option, though I wish I had been informed a day or two earlier. I’ve taken solo cooking classes before and had no issues, but given the amount of food being prepared, I preferred joining another participant later in the afternoon.
Overall, Andre was an amazing chef, and his sous chef Janet was wonderful as well. I truly enjoyed learning about the culture and traditions behind the dishes. This cooking class was one of the highlights of my trip. 10/10 recommend for anyone who enjoys exploring new cuisines and experiencing different cultures.

So fun! And delicious
I had a lovely time with the cooking class and market tour. The guide (Dario) was very knowledgeable about the food and Guatemalan culture, and showed off all the different parts of the market.
The food was delicious! I wish it was easier to access some of the ingredients where I’m from and I’d be making it all the time. Recipes were provided afterwards

Great excursion!!!
This excursion was really cool!!! Traveling up through the mountains was so beautiful. I wish the time at Hobbitenango was a bit longer, but it was still pretty awesome. Driving on the cobblestone is a challenge, but we still enjoyed it as we got to explore more of Antigua while riding through the town. Our guide made us feel extremely comfortable, got us through the busy-ness of the Antigua streets, and we got to enjoy time as a group getting to know each other. We enjoyed learning about the chocolate/cacao process and the vibe overall. I Highly recommend!!

Solo in Antigua
This was such a nice tour to get a bearing of Antigua, learn the history and see all of the major tourist attractions. The tour guide told stories along the way like about the Mayan culture to ghost stories.
Additionally, I was running late because another tour company had my start time mixed up and had me going to a different location. But fortunately, I was able to meet up with this guide and continue with the tour.
Lastly, he took the group to a nice to play to find jade jewelry and have lunch. Such a great time!

Marlon was great!!
My experience was great. Marlon was exceptional and provided great service. He provided us with recommendations and told us the history of Guatemala City and Antigua. Marlon went above and beyond for me and my Dad on this trip. We would not be able to navigate Antigua Guatemala without the transportation to and from airport.

Went on a Sunday...
Went on a Sunday afternoon and ended up being a private class for me and my friend. Super fun, the only thing I wish we knew was that sundays you don’t go to the market. Honestly, probably the best food we had on the whole trip since we made things that weren’t as commonly found in restaurants. Dario and Victor were amazing and we had such a great time with them and learned so much about the history behind the food. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a cooking class.

Daryl was an amazing guide!
We did this ATV coffee tour the day after we did the ATV sunset tour in Antigua by the same tour agency - Simoon Rentals and Tours. We could not have asked for a better guide who was so knowledgeable and gave us a full rundown on the coffee making process at the coffee farm Finca La Azotea which was in a beautiful setting in Jocotenango, a town just north of Antigua. Initially after visiting the historic coffee farm we were supposed to go to Cerro de La Cruz but we had already covered that during the sunset tour the previous day, so Daryl was kind enough to instead take us to a busy plaza in San Pedro Las Huertas where we could see a cool communal washing station where people would gather to wash clothes together and trade gossip and we also got to understand the process of mining, refining, and designing jade at a nearby family-run jade shop that is 3 generations strong. The pieces were so beautiful and learning about the jade-making process was so informative that we were happy to support them by buying a few pieces from them and their prices are more than fair and don’t overpriced! The shop is named king brothers jades Munro Maya. If you decide to take this your will not regret your time and money spent and I would highly recommend asking for Daryl to be your tour guide as he’s very kind, informative and speaks English very well :)

The Absolute Highlight of My Trip — Don’t Skip This
This was hands down the best experience of my entire trip to Guatemala. Our tour guide went above and beyond, taking us out of the typical tourist circuit and into her own neighborhood, and a few others, where we got to enjoy truly authentic street cuisine. This wasn’t a curated, watered-down version of local food. This was the real thing.
What surprised me most was how much I learned along the way. Our guide was so knowledgeable and engaging that I walked away with more history and cultural insight than I did from a dedicated walking tour of Antigua. She clearly has a deep love for her city and it showed in every stop we made.
And the food? That’s what I’ll be talking about for months. Every bite was memorable and I’m so glad I said yes to trying everything.
My only regret is not having enough time to book a cooking class with this company — because if this tour is any indication, everything they offer is top tier. You can just tell they genuinely care about the experience they’re creating for visitors.
Do not pass this up. Go hungry, stay curious, and try every single thing they put in front of you.

Fun Cultural Tour
This was a great tour that took us to smaller towns outside of Antigua. We visited family-run businesses, including a chocolate factory, coffee plantation and textile weaving business; and a village market where we tried local foods. Riding the ATVs added an element of fun to the cultural excursion. Highly recommend!
