Viator contracted it out to Maya Experience. No one within that company spoke English. Tour Guide Horrible.

The excursion blended two worlds perfectly. First, you visit the Tulum ruins and see an archaeological world that rivals the best. The tour guide knew everything and made sure to recommend the best photo locations of the Caribbean Sea. Then you get to swim in the cenotes. I was lucky enough to be the only one. So it was like a private tour of the undeground river in a cave!!! Highly recommend this. Plus, they feed you empanadas and rice afterwards.

    Horrible Experience

    Thedius_B, Sep 2025
Horrible experience as there was confusion for the transportation which caused my wife and I alot of frustration. I want a refund of all monies spent as we didn't go on the tour

    Lots of fun

    Fiona_P, Aug 2025
Tulum was very interesting but sadly our guide rushed us through everything, walked way up ahead, began speaking before everyone caught up, so much was missed. The lunch was delicious, as the Cenotes were absolutely breathtaking. Most importantly our guide through the cenotes, Sara, was INCREDIBLE!!!

Tour guides great, bait and switch pricing not so much

    Kennedy_A, Jun 2025
The experience was fine and the tour guides were great. I really loved the Cenotes. My issue was the bait and switch pricing so whoever is in charge of advertising prices. I paid $188 only to find out I still owed $153 in taxes. If you had displayed a price of $330 I probably wouldn’t have booked so the great deal was no longer a great deal. I felt ripped off. The tour guides were wonderful and they were very nice and accommodating.

Unique meal in the jungle! Great guides and ceynote was amazing! Lots of communication about pick up.

Good tour guide, poor customer service from operator

    Joanne_B, Feb 2025
This tour was good but slightly pricey for what was included. The tour guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. Pick up was 20 mins late. I also left my sunglasses on the bus by accident and contacted the operator about getting these back and my messages have since been ignored. Really disappointing end to a nice day, so please be extra careful not to leave anything behind as you won’t get it back!!

    Talum and Cenote swim

    Catherine_D, Feb 2025
Great trip. Picked up on time which is always a great start and appreciated. A bit of waiting around at Tulum and swapping guides over, four in total. Cenote swim was an amazing experience with a great guide. I would recommend this trip and was reasonably priced in comparison to others .

    Nice Tulum Ruins Tour

    Alicia_B, Nov 2024
The Tulum ruins and cenotaph tour was good. The tour of the ruins was very nice and informative. A lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes and bring water on hot days. The lunch was ok could have been better. The cenote swim portion was good. A little dark inside. I wish it was more light. The only complaint was the extra fee $25USD for preservation of the ruins thst was requested a day before. I would have preferred to have paid upfront because I felt harassed on how to pay. We were told only cash when we had credit cards. A lot of back and forth. Otherwise the staff were great but could have been more organized.

Experiencia Desorganizada y Falta de Empatía en el Tour

    Daniel_J, Oct 2024
**English**: The tour itself was very chaotic. They picked me up late and didn’t even apologize. Furthermore, before the tour began, I was constantly transferred to a different van or a new guide, which was very confusing and disorganized. The worst part was that, during lunch, one of the tourists on the tour fainted, and the situation turned into complete chaos. The staff quickly walked away, and no one wanted to help or allow the person to be transported in any of the vehicles, as they claimed it would disrupt the tour for others. Therefore, we tourists had to help this person for over 40 minutes until, finally, someone arrived with a vehicle and they were able to take her, especially since we were in a very remote and inaccessible place. I feel that the staff's attitude was very insensitive, avoiding helping someone with such an urgent and sudden health problem. On another note, I was never informed that plastic bottles were not allowed in the archaeological zone, but there they force you to buy other bottles which, according to them, are non-disposable. Additionally, I saw people with aluminum cans, which I think is riskier since they are more likely to end up littering the area. I also had to throw away my food because they didn't accept plastic bags or containers. Overall, the lack of organization and empathy from the staff made this experience very disappointing.

    Brilliant

    Lisa_M, Aug 2024
I loved this trip. We were picked up close to our hotel by our driver, Johnny, who was an asset to the company and really made our day. The drive to Tulum Ruins was quick, Johnny helped us out by telling us all the things you couldn’t carry inside and kept what we would have had confiscated safe for us. Ruins were spectacular though extremely hot. Would definitely recommend taking a Stanley cup or similar to be able to sip on some water as well as a hat and something light to cover your shoulders. We had none of the above so felt very tired when we met Johnny at the designated spot, however, he had filled an ice box with freezing cold water for us. A god send. We then had lunch which was a traditional Mayan dish followed by a swim in the cenote which was exhilarating. Worth every penny for that alone. Be aware that the ticket to Tulum is not included in your price and costs an extra $25 usd plus tax. A bargain. Johnny then delivered us back to our hotel safely with lots of Mexican stories and information along the way.

Very disappointing felt like a scam

    Sacha_V, May 2024
It was very hot that day, so some part of the experience was understandably uncomfortable. But some parts was because of the company like the fact that they had an extra charge after the fee we paid through you. Or the fact that our tour guide was too hot to actually go through the detail of the tour at the ruins. Or they had a packed in a van to go back very uncomfortably because someone in their previous group missed their Van that didn’t really care about how uncomfortable we would be in the hot unconditioned car.

Organization to review - many delays and waiting

    Laurianne_F, Feb 2026
An hour late to departure in the morning, once the shuttle arrived it was full so we had to wait for another shuttle. A priori there were last minute registrations (the same morning) and the claimant had to find another van ... Many different excursions are grouped for transport, at the end of my excursion I had to wait for more than an hour for the return shuttle because we had to wait for other people who had booked another excursion to make the trips profitable. Organization a little chaotic, poorly managed. I've waited as long as I've done activities. I asked several times at the end of my activities where to take the shuttle back and everyone was circling the bus not to tell me that we had to wait until other people finished their activity to leave. I didn't think it was right, and I just waited a long time.

Structure too bad to receive tourist

    Veronica_O, Jan 2026
The trip to Tulum was good, but the rest was bad. It's a changing van every time, each van goes to a different corner. We were taken to lunch in a horrible place, a horrible empanada with terrible rice and beans. Then they took us to a cenote completely without structure, we changed clothes in a tent with an old curtain, no bathroom. The cenote is beautiful, out of that...

    Cute but messy

    lucas_g, May 2025
We booked the tour a day earlier, unfortunately we could not be picked up at the hotel where we stayed but we had to approach a meeting point, later we were left with another guide at the entrance of the jaguar park, where the wait was long (1.5 hours) between dividing us into different groups which was inconvenient as much time was lost there. Another point is that the tour was in Spanish and English, which caused one to get lost between the languages, so hopefully only make it in one language. Ignacio and Jocelyn great. It is very hot and they did not warn that plastic water bottles could not be entered but only in thermoses.
