Learning and experiencing Kintsugi
Excellent experience with April who gave clear guidance throughout the process. The Zen studio was easy to find and well laid out. You could either use the standard pottery included or opt to pay extra for alternative pieces to use. April also gave us a brief history of how Kintsugi came into being which was very interesting.

Authentic family fun
We loved this experience! It was great fun making our own chopsticks. The team provided excellent instruction and support and we were all happy with our finished product. This was one of the best group activities we attended in Tokyo. We highly recommend this experience to any fun loving family or friendship group.

Awesome experience (thank you Kamila) — Note about extra fees
Kamila was amazing! She walked us through the entire process every step of the way and was super friendly. She seemed very attentive to making sure that we had a good finished product, and stopped to check our work at each step. I also greatly appreciate how transparent she was about anything that would cost extra at every step. She always confirmed with us multiple times to make sure that we knew when we would be up-charged for something. She was very personable, friendly and conversational, and we had an overall great experience! Would highly recommend for doing with couples or families traveling looking for a memorable, personal keepsake from your trip.
One thing worth noting is that — while they have a number of coins that are available for free — if you would like a Japanese coin (which I assume is likely, since you’re in Japan after all) there will be an up-charge of as little as ¥2500 all the way up to ¥8000 depending on the coin you want.
Overall, an exceptional experience, and thank you very much to Kamila for the help and guidance!

Excellent experience, they thought of everything!
This was an excellent activity and I highly recommend it! They thought of everything starting with sending not just instructions, but a very clear video on how to find their location. As a foreigner, I find the Japanese addresses challenging, and this was super helpful.
On arrival, we were provided with traditional Japanese jackets to protect our clothes. There was also water and a snack available.
First the staff were introduced with a brief bio and then a little history and background was presented which I found very informative. We each selected the type of knife we wanted to work on (there was a reasonable additional fee for upgraded knife), and after clear instructions we got to work. The staff came around frequently to check our technique and progress. Ru and Zac were the enthusiastic and encouraging in their feedback.
After we achieved the desired sharpness (now knowing what to look for), we moved on to customizing the wood handle. I’ve never used a wood burning tool before, but it was just like using a pen; super easy. My one suggestion for this portion of the class would be to offer a list of suggested options for what to engrave, for people like me who have trouble deciding.
At the end of class, there is an option to purchase one of two sharpening kits to take home. We had a little hiccup with my purchase, but they went the extra mile to make sure I was a happy customer in the end.
Absolutely one of my favorite activities while we were in Tokyo, and I have a lasting souvenir, and a new skill to remind me of this wonderful experience!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A wonderful experience!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the chopstick-making class! It was such a fun and unique experience, and we loved learning something new together.
We had a great time throughout the class, and making our own chopsticks made it even more special. Definitely a lovely memory that we will keep from our trip. ❤️
Highly recommended!

Loved it! Best experience we had in Japan.
Family of four with two teenagers and we all loved it. We were the only ones attending our session which I thought made it exceptional value for money. We got to learn the Ninja meditation and other important facts about Ninja and Samurai and their history and how to move quietly like a Ninja avoiding sharp objects on the floor. We were then allowed to use the real Ninja weapons and practise throwing various throwing stars and blow darts. We then moved on to Samurai Katana sword training and learned several cutting techniques. Our trainer was a delightful lady who was very clear and helpful in her instruction and answered our questions. She also took photos and videos for us. Oh, and we got to dress head to toe in black like Ninjas for the whole session. Hands down the best experience we did whilst in Japan and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to all ages. Simply not to be missed.

Great experience to learn about Japanese culture
Isabella was super friendly and a great teacher for my first time making chopsticks :) all the tools are provided and you can jump right in choosing between different wood types. I learned about the different kinds of wood which was super interesting!! I loved the whole process. Also super cool you can choose to engrave something on your chopsticks and choose the kanji that spell your name. Great experience to learn something about Japanese culture!

Very nice experience with...
Very nice experience with my sons, they selected and applied their own rivets and buttons. Upsells get really pricey so if you can avoid the customization items and stick with included items, it’s a great price for the quality of the jeans (about $120 USD). The staff is friendly and guides you through the entire process.

Perfect blend of history, culture, hands-on experience
This was a wonderful and memorable experience - highly recommend. It was the perfect mix of history and hands-on experience. We learned so much and had a great time. We loved hearing about the clan history, the various weapons, dressing as a ninja, trying some skills out. The woman who owns the dojo (whose descended from a great samurai house) and the gentleman samurai and female scribe were great - so kind and knowledgeable.

Fun DIY experience!
The experience was very fun! It had a good edutainment aspect of value that I enjoyed. The ceramic was pre-broken for us to choose, I wish there were more style varieties to choose from. The instructions were very clear and the video was also easy to follow. I think it would be good to extent the estimated experience time to 1.25 hrs as it seems like people took extra time to create their kintsugi plates and ask questions. I think the value of the experience was quite worth it and they also sell a kit you can take home to try out.

What a fantastic experience!
What a fantastic experience! We
met Taka and Keiko, beautiful people! They guided us through folding Origami, making fresh Udon noodles from scratch, making Sushi, and cooking Tempura. Most enjoyable however was learning to write our names in Caligraphy and drinking Macha Tea the proper way.
To top it off we were able to eat the food we created for lunch, YUMMY!
We did so much that time seem to fly by, before we knew it we had to part, but we left with the feeling that we had made life long friends in Japan! We now belong to the Team Taka homecoming Family.
