I had a wonderfull time in this class. The visit to the market was just me and the host, but a few people came in for the class. The class was quite well interactive, and the explanations were on point. The mood in the group was friendly and comical. Despite being the only non spanish speaker they were kind enought to speak english most of the time to include me. The food was delicious, and the recepies quite clear.

Changed my Mind

I have never really been a “tour person.” I always thought tours would feel too touristy, rushed, or impersonal. Mar completely changed my mind. She was absolutely amazing—warm, engaging, knowledgeable, and authentic. You could tell she truly loves what she does, and that authenticity made such a difference. Instead of making us feel like tourists being shuffled from place to place, she made us feel completely at home, almost like we were spending the day with a local friend who happened to know all the best places, stories, and little details. There were only six of us on the tour—my wife and me, along with a lovely family from Canada—so it really felt more like a private VIP experience than a traditional tour. Mar made everything personal, relaxed, and genuine, while still giving us so much history and insight. I honestly came away thinking there is no better way to see Sintra and the palace. Trying to do it all on our own would never have been the same experience. I went into the day thinking tours probably weren’t for me. I came away completely converted. If every tour guide were like Mar, I would happily take tours everywhere we travel. Thank you, Mar, for making the day so memorable and for making us feel less like tourists and more like guests of a local friend. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip.

Terry is amazing. So much fun for the whole family.

We did a pastel de nata making class and Terry was absolutely amazing. I’m coeliac, and even though I had my own workstation, she made sure I felt fully included with the rest of my family the whole way through. She’s an absolute bundle of energy and even got my teenage boys involved and having fun, which isn’t always easy! I felt so spoilt. It’s not often I get to enjoy beautifully made treats like this, and these were gorgeous. The added bonus of getting to finish off the custard was a lovely touch too. Cannot thank Terry and her colleague enough for such a wonderful afternoon.

Incredible Class!

My husband and I booked this cooking class while on our honeymoon in Porto. Tania and Tomas were incredible! The kitchen was very intimate and made for a more personable experience. Tania is an excellent chef who gave information and history about each dish we made in class. Tomas is a specialist in wine and gave us interesting facts about each wine and cocktail. 10/10 would recommend. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip! Thank you Tania and Tomas!

Don't Pass Up This Cooking Opportunity

What an amazing adventure. I love a good market and Priscilla was the best person to follow through Mercado do Bolhao. She was engaging and informative and introduced us to some of the vendors. Then it was back to cook. Each person had an opportunity to do different jobs, culminating with a most delicious meal. I would recommend this to everyone.

An absolute must-do!

My partner and I did this tour as we traveled through Portugal for the first time. We like to seek out experiences that give us a genuine picture of life where we're traveling and this was exactly that. Marco grew up in Portugal and graciously showed us around Gaia. We learned so much and had such wonderful conversations with him throughout the day. The food he made was absolutely delicious, as well! This was our favorite day of our 2-week trip, plus we felt like we made a real friend. I cannot recommend Marco's tour enough! If you like non-touristy, authentic experiences, it's a must-do.

We had a wonderful port and cheese pairing experience at Quevedo, the building was wonderful and Miguel, our host, was very knowledgable and friendly. We feel like we learned a lot about port and food science, and thoroughly enjoyed the port. A must do if staying in Porto or Vila Nova de Gaia and would definitely recommend to a friend.
