Wonderful experience with...
Wonderful experience with 3 generations cooking together. Took our two granddaughters 4 and 5 years old and they loved it! The hostesses were very helpful and encouraging and the place full of local artisans creations. We walked the narrow streets to get there which was part of the charm. Took home delicious treats!!!

Great workshop hosted by...
Great workshop hosted by Mike and Rui. We were able to make some great pasteis de natas and at the end of the workshop we were told the history of the pastel de nata followed by getting to eat them. If you're looking for a fun not too serious class this is the one for you!

Learn to Make Pastel de Nata from Scratch!
Amazing experience learning how to make pastel de nata desserts from scratch! Vanessa was a friendly host and great teacher who made the afternoon interactive and immersive every step of the baking journey. The class also included vinho verde, story telling and spending time with fellow tourists from around the world. After completing it, I now have a deeper appreciation for the elaborative process that goes into these tasty treats. It is a lovely way to spend an afternoon and for me personally, the perfect and sweet send off to a week well spent in Porto. Keep up the great work, God Bless!

Just the experience we were looking for in Porto!
Recently, while in Porto, Portugal, we took this cooking class with Chef Tania, with her spouse Tomas assisting, and wow… what an experience from start to finish.
The day began with a tour of Mercado do Bolhão with Tomas, where we met another couple participating in the class. We shared wine, tried sardines for the first time, and learned more about the market and Portuguese food culture. It was the perfect way to start the experience.
After the market tour, we walked over to the apartment for the cooking class, and let me tell you — everything was flawless. We’ve had the privilege of taking cooking classes in private locations in Paris, Budapest, Italy, and India, and out of all of them, the attention to detail and overall execution of this class was by far the best.
Chef Tania was incredibly hands-on, welcoming, and engaging throughout the entire experience. She encouraged questions, made everyone feel completely at ease, and created such a warm and inviting atmosphere. Having recently moved to Lisbon a few months ago, I especially loved being able to ask a real Portuguese chef questions about cooking and ingredients, and she was so generous with her knowledge.
We learned so much, laughed a ton, ate incredibly well, and left genuinely excited to recreate the dishes at home.
I truly cannot recommend this class enough. It was one of the highlights of our time in Porto.

A Perfect Rainy Day in Porto
What started as a potentially awkward situation—everyone else cancelled due to rain, leaving me as the sole guest—turned into one of the highlights of my trip. Mayinka transformed what could have been a standard food tour into a private, personalized culinary adventure through Porto's hidden gems.
Her knowledge goes far beyond the food itself. She shared fascinating stories about the city's history, culture, and neighborhoods, weaving context into every stop. But what really stood out was how genuinely warm and engaging she was. As a solo traveler, I appreciated that she made the experience feel like exploring with a friend rather than following a guide.
Beyond the tour, Mayinka loaded me up with recommendations, local tips, and off-the-beaten-path suggestions that shaped the rest of my stay. If you're visiting Porto—rain or shine, solo or with a group—book this tour and hope you get Mayinka.

Great cooking class. It was a hit
We met at the workplace and then walked to the market. That was really nice and even though I’ve been to other markets this one was really nice. We then walked back to the work shop/cooking class room. Then we prepared a three course meal by ourselves with Afonso’s direction. Btw, Afonso was truly great. Very knowledgeable and calm with a terrific sense of humor. We made a great soup followed by a cod dish (with onion, garlic, olive oil and cheese. I had seconds. That was followed by a delicious almond tart. I’m not a desert guy but this was great. Lots of wine, water, coffee and port. I would take this cooking class again.

Fun morning in Porto
If you want something fun & creative to do, you can’t go past this class. Allow around 2 hours & enjoy a coffee and a glass of wine while you’re doing it. The expert teacher and assistants were attentive, helpful & encouraging. You don’t need to be an artist to do this and you will enjoy the results of your creation!

Pastel de Nata workshop in Gaia
Cat was a wonderful teacher. She included all of us at different stages of the bake. She also told some very interesting local facts. A truly fabulous two and a half hours spent making delicious Pastel de Natas from start to finish. Highly recommended!!!

Fun midday activity
The chef led tour was a perfect activity for our midday activity on our first day in Porto. Walking through the market gave us a taste of the local flavor, and we had an entertaining and fun time creating our meal enjoyed with local wine. It was perfect for our small party of three friends.

Must Do! Spend your money wisely!
I have been to many of these including the Napa Valley in California and I can tell you that I have never experienced a better time than the day I spent with Marco. It is definitely a must do. Instead of wasting your money on dull bus tours you must spend a day with Marco and experience the true Portugal. You won’t regret it. You’ll come away fuller, and with more knowledge of Portugal. In the Two months that I’ve been here it was the best money spent. ❤️

Learn to cook authentic Portuguese Cuisine in a lovely farmhouse
The cooking class with Chef Heitor was the highlight of our trip to Porto. Just a short train or taxi ride outside of Porto, we visited the family farm of the chef and learned to cook a multi-course meal with fresh produce grown on the farm. As avid cooks, the Chef taught us how to make authentic Portuguese food and introduced new techniques that will make us better cooks.
What made the visit so special was the hospitality of Chef Heitor, from the moment we booked, he made the visit special. He provided details on how to easily get to the farm, arranged a taxi, and ensured that the travel was smooth.
Once we got to the farm, we had a tour of his family's home, visited the family chapel, kitchen, and since it was harvest watched the process of harvesting the grapes. He welcomed us like family.
The kitchen was warm and welcoming, the afternoon flew by as we learned how to make Portuguese fish stew, rice, and appetizers of cod cakes and sardines. For dessert. we made a simple orange roll cake. We then ate in the family dining room, enjoying each course we made accompanied by his own wine.
We truly enjoyed our time with Chef Heitor, his assistant Christina, and will be back when we visit Porto again.
