Discover the remarkable history of Padua’s Jewish community on a fully private walking tour through the former Jewish ghetto and its hidden heritage. From the medieval university and rabbinical academies to synagogues concealed behind ordinary façades, this immersive experience reveals how Jewish life became deeply intertwined with Padua’s intellectual, commercial, and cultural development across the centuries. Walk through narrow streets once enclosed by the ghetto gates and uncover the stories of scholars, physicians, merchants, and families who shaped one of Italy’s most important Jewish communities. Through architecture, daily life, and personal stories, your guide brings to life both the richness of Jewish Padua and the restrictions imposed upon it under the Republic of Venice. The tour also explores the darker chapters of the twentieth century, including fascist persecution and the Shoah, while highlighting the resilience and continuity of Jewish life in Padua today.
