Wonderful day tour

Great day visiting Bran Castle, Peles Castle, Rasnov Fortress and Sinai Monastery. Alina is an amazing tour guide. There were only the two of us on the tour in the end, so it was basically a private tour. Alina is so knowledgeable and is from Braşov, so she is local.

Bran Castle is of course...

Bran Castle is of course the most iconic because of Dracula, and it was interesting, but it was good that we got there early to avoid the crowds. If you would have to fight the mob and have it take twice as long, it might not be worth it. Peles Castle was much more grandiose and aesthetically pleasing. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. It was a good experience.

All round great day out

The bear sanctuary was an absolute must, Bran castle is a lovely building but aspects of the Dracula link were not displayed very effectively and more could be made of the full story to include Vlad the impaler. Rhasov fortress was a pleasant surprise even though we could not access the whole site, and very informative on Transylvania history

Amazing hike with Marian...

Amazing hike with Marian from Active Travel. The loop trail around Magura and Pestera was very scenic and varied, with diverse landscapes such as barns, pastures, forests and a cave, with fantastic red and gold autumn foliage at this time of the year (end of September). It’s a great look into rural life in these areas, with lots of sheep, cows and horses, and the included lunch was great as well. Marian is very nice to talk to and very informative, with lots of interesting insights to share! Depending on how well-equipped you are, you can do different itineraries. I did the easy one and both the itinerary and pacing were great! Would definitely recommended it. Thank you so much!

Amazing Day with Tudor!

We had the BEST day with our amazing guide, Tudor. He made our experience to Peles, Bran, & Rasnov perfect! I would highly recommend him to anyone. He's communicative, knowledgable, and concise. He's able to convey all the cultural and historical facts and information you would be interested in remembering without bogging you down with the ones you'd forget. In addition, we were the very first group into Peles castle which made for a perfectly peaceful experience with great photo ops compared to the hundreds of people lined up in queues behind us! He catered the entire experience to our small group of three people (myself, my partner, and one other perfectly matched traveler who we enjoyed being with) What a perfect day to learn more about Romania, it's history, and see the beautiful sites. Very good tour. Our driver/guide, Valentin, was very knowledgeable and gave us the history of Romania. He walked with us at each town and explained everything we were seeing. We really enjoyed this tour and learned so much. Just beware it is a long drive between towns and there is walking on cobblestones and up hill, plus some steps. Much of the drive is on back country roads. During our drive, he showed videos of the history of Romania. This tour was private and takes about 9 hours.

T. Highway tour in the snow

Our driver picked us up in a very comfortable car, with heated seats, which is great for the time of year we were visiting. December is cold, and there was a lot of snow, so make sure you have appropriate clothing! You don’t need hiking or snow boots unless you want to do a little climbing for views and pictures. In December, you won’t see bears lining up at the side of the road like you might at other times of the year and the views are very dependable on the weather. In extreme weather or wind the cable car is unlikely to run. We were very lucky and although it was super misty, the cable car was in operation. We didn’t get to enjoy full views on the cable car due to the mist, but when we reached the lake the sun came out and it was very beautiful. Sunglasses are recommended as the glare of the snow made it really hard to open our eyes for pictures 😆 Our guide was very knowledgeable and told us lots about the history of the places we drove through or stopped at. Make sure you fully understand the pros and cons of the time of year you visit - all seasons will have very different things to offer! We would like to come back in the summer to get full benefit of the views, see the bears, and see the lake when it is not frozen over. That said, seeing this area in the snow was a very unique experience and it was a really breathtaking view. And whilst you may not get bears, there are lots of friendly dogs around the cable car 🚠 Top stars for the guide who was great and took lots of pictures of us 🤣
