The Best Coffee Tour and the Best Tour Guide in Puerto Rico

    Morgan_M, Aug 2026
The drive into Puerto Rico’s mountains alone makes this tour worthwhile. The scenery is breathtaking, and we stopped at a beautiful waterfall where we were amazed by the crystal-clear water and all the plants growing naturally around it, including wild ginger. Once we arrived at the coffee plantation, the views from the hacienda were spectacular, and the coffee they served was some of the best we had during our trip. The tour itself was excellent. We learned a great deal about Puerto Rico’s coffee industry before exploring the estate. Our favorite part was walking the grounds, where we sampled ripe coffee cherries straight from the plants and picked fresh fruit growing throughout the property, including guava, limes, and avocados. The coffee roasting demonstration was also a unique, hands-on experience. The hacienda guide was engaging and knowledgeable, making this a fantastic tour, especially for anyone who wants to learn more about coffee. As great as the plantation was, the true highlight of the experience was our driver and guide, Tristan. He is, without question, the best tour guide we’ve ever had anywhere in the world. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely passionate about Puerto Rico. The conversations during the drive were just as enjoyable as the tour itself, and by the end of the day, he felt more like a friend than a guide. After the tour, he continued giving us outstanding recommendations that made the rest of our trip even better. If you’re considering this tour, book it. And if you have the opportunity to tour with Tristan, don’t hesitate. He’s the kind of guide who turns a great excursion into one of the most memorable experiences of your entire vacation. We’ll absolutely be reaching out to him the next time we’re in Puerto Rico.

Take this tour (and take your dramamine)

Truly unique, charming, and educational. Sebas was the best guide! (If you get carsick be prepared for insanely curvy roads.)

    Vacation Highlight!

    Kris_M, Jan 2026
Tristan and John were really great hosts/ guides. My wife and I had a great time. It was a long and fulfilling excursion - with several memorable highlights which were encased by ALOT of views, smells, sights, sounds, feelings, thoughts, and emotions. My wife and I wanted to start our vacation with an excursion that helped us embrace Puerto Rico and it's culture and this one did not disappoint! Highlights were: The car ride to the coffee plantation which offered many views, sights, sounds, friendly discussions, information about the island, history lessons, laughter, and suggestions on places to eat/ things to do for the rest of our trip. Along the way we stopped at a cafe/ roadside restaurant for a special bite to eat which was refreshing and just right for the moment and offered plenty of views. Next we stopped at an " off the beaten path " waterfall which was so much better than we could have imagined. Be prepared to get wet!!!! It was great! Next on the trip was ALOT of driving up hills and twists and turns which offered many opportunities to talk and laugh, many many views, and a chance to experience a touch of what mountain life is like in Puerto Rico. Next was the coffee plantation visit where we were met with a touch of serenity and nostalgic feelings - knowing this is a fourth generation farm. We were able to enjoy a small cup of cappuccino and charcuterie board snacks upon arrival. Then we listened to a small presentation of the history of the farm and history of the coffee. We walked the plantation and learned so much about the harvesting process and even ate a couple beans right off the branches - who knew how juicy they were. Then we concluded the plantation portion of our excursion with roasting, grinding, and brewing our own cup of coffee!!! This was so much fun. Finally - to cap off the excursion, we stopped at a really cool rooftop lunch / dinner establishment on our ride home. The food and atmosphere was a perfect way to top off the day. Thank you Tristan and John for a memorable day!!
