This was a great food tour! Honoka is a young college student so we loved spending time getting to know her and her life in Osaka. The restaurants we visited had amazing food, friendly service, and fun atmospheres. We learned a lot about the difference between Osaka foods and Hiroshima foods. I definitely recommend this tour!

A great way to spend a rainy evening in Osaka, great food and a lot of laughter. Our guide Nikko made the evening, he had a lot of local knowledge and passion but it was his energy and ability to make a group of strangers into friends that made it such a special evening and a highlight of our trip,

i think this experience is a scam. i booked this food tour for 6 people two months before my trip to japan. at the time, the tour promised 15 different dish’s at 4 local eateries for $65 USD per person.
about two weeks after booking, i get a message that now only two local eateries are included and we will still visit the others but will be required to pay for the food.
at the first eatery, we all got 8 small gyoza and a drink. at the second eatery, we split an order of 8 takoyaki bites among 6 people. in total, the actual cost of all these items was $6.67 USD per person.
then we went to two other places (kushikatsu and sushi), and in total spent $18 USD each out of pocket. in total, with the cost of the tour, spent $83 on $25 worth of food.
it was not worth it. the original listing still seems to say you get 15 dishes at 4 eateries. it’s a bait and switch.
i’m only giving this review two stars because our tour guide karen was absolutely lovely.

First of all, we would like to clear up a few misunderstandings regarding your booking and the experience you received.
The experience you booked was our “1 Group Only” private tour, which is different from our current group tour product. This is a customized private experience designed exclusively for your group, with more flexibility and a different structure from our standard group tours.
At the time of your booking, this private tour included visits to 2 restaurants, not 4 restaurants with all food included as offered in some of our current tour products.
After your booking, our tours were updated, including changes to the tour name, inclusions, and pricing. These updates were communicated through the booking platform as well as by phone.
If you compare your booking price with our current pricing, you will likely notice that the product, inclusions, and pricing are different from when you originally booked.
For this reason, we are honestly saddened to see the word “scam” used here. We have never intended to mislead any guests, and the experience provided was based on the exact conditions and inclusions that existed at the time of your reservation.
That being said, we truly appreciate your kind words about Karen. We will be sure to share your compliment with her.

Awful value for money. Nice guide but this is nowhere near worth the money. Whole experience should cost around 30 usd. The first 2 stops on tour are covered as part of the expensive price. The latter two stops are not covered. Mark up is silly. Guide failed to warn us we would be eating shark. Avoided the question when it came up. I asked for fifty percent refund and it was denied. AVOID

The restaurants we visit are carefully selected local spots that Japanese people themselves regularly go to, not tourist-oriented locations. The goal is to provide an authentic and immersive experience, rather than a fixed, pre-arranged food tour.
We also clearly outline in advance which items are included and which are to be paid on-site. This structure is intentional, allowing guests the flexibility to choose what they would like to try, instead of being limited to a set menu.
Regarding the ingredient mentioned, it is part of traditional Japanese cuisine in certain regions, and guests are always free to decline any item during the tour.
As for the refund request, our decision was made in line with our policy, which is applied consistently to all guests.
While we understand your viewpoint, this experience is designed around access, personalization, and local insight, and may feel different from tours focused purely on food cost.

This was the best food tour I have ever been on, Bao was amazing. He taught us about the food culture, pop culture, and fun local Osaka lingo. The food we ate was delicious and everyone was very friendly. I’d recommend this tour to anyone (friend groups and families alike). Very worthwhile. Mizuki was our guide, and she was bubbly, funny, and informative about local food culture and customs. My wife and I had an excellent time strolling around local spots to discover places we’d likely not have found otherwise. Mizuki was kind to answer all our questions, even the silly ones. Do yourself a favor, book this experience if you’re looking to go off script and try something new.

Absolutely fabulous intimate experience with Ben. We moved between 3 sit down stops and got a feel for the area. The food was amazing, we went back to one place again the following night. Ben’s English is great, which made it feel more like friends than the bigger tours we other nights.

We really enjoyed our tour with Ben and Chihiro! We got to eat at restaurants we never would have found on our own and got to experience the less touristy side of Osaka in Tennoji. We especially enjoyed the okonomiyaki restaurant, the food was amazing and the owners and regulars were so sweet and welcoming to us. There was not too much walking involved, just enough to stretch our legs after a long day. I would definitely recommend this tour, but remember to bring cash as some establishments do not take credit card.

Ben was an ultimate guide!
The tour was intimate, customized, informative and a pure local night life hangout experience. Trust me, without Ben, you wouldn’t have an Osaka experience like this one.
We ate and sipped izakaya style. The cost was nominal when taking into account all the wonderful foods, drinks, and conversation we shared, not to mention the authentic atmosphere of our Tennoji tour that Ben offered.
He customized the tour on the spot and took us to a local karaoke bar. We had a blast!

10/10 This tour was one of the best experiences that we had in all of Japan. Soichiro (Ben) is a chef so he has a wonderful palette and took us to three different local eating spots. The food was sooo yummy. He also give us a mini tour of Osaka and we loved it! He truly personalized the tour to my husband and I, even taking us to an arcade and slot machine place because my husband really wanted to understand how it worked. Ben was friendly, food was fantastic, and it was all around good vibes. Highly recommend this tour!
