We had a wonderful day with Mehmet as our tour guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable and also kind and considerate. We learned a great deal about the sites and all was at a very comfortable pace (we were quite jet-lagged!) Highly recommend touring with Mehmet- Big Bonus: he takes excellent pictures!

Best Day in Istanbul

Our guide Kerim met us this morning. He started off a stranger but we left as friends. He took us to all the major sights and the Blue Mosque moved me to tears it was so beautiful. Kerim was very knowledgeable and gave us the history as we went along. We had a coffee stop and a lovely lunch. It was the best experience. Kerim was wonderful and took photos the whole way round so we have great memories of the happiest day. Thank you so much Kerim. You made it a fun and interesting day.

We had a great day exploring Old Town Istanbul with our guide, Emel. Even though it was rainy and a holiday, she planned the day very thoughtfully so we could see as much as possible while avoiding long lines at the main attractions. Emel was punctual, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Türkiye and Istanbul. She brought each site to life with engaging stories and insights that made the experience much more meaningful. She also went above and beyond at the end of the tour by staying with us in the Grand Bazaar and helping us choose souvenirs, which we really appreciated. Istanbul is a vibrant and fascinating city, and this tour left us wanting to learn even more about its history and culture. We only wish we had more time to explore additional sights with Emel. We’re very glad we had her as our guide and truly enjoyed the experience.

Emel was an amazing guide. She contacted me through WhatsApp and picked me up directly from my hotel. She shared so many interesting facts, as well as detailed historical information and entertaining stories. We skipped the long lines and she took such good care of me. A special event was sharing a meal together. Because she is so kind and caring, it was like spending the day with a good friend. Emel is professional, courteous and respectful. She made my tour meaningful and personal…well worth the money and would highly recommend to any Istanbul visitors.

Great tour of Istanbul

So this is our third booking through Viator and our guide Sabit was exceptional. We have enjoyed thoroughly our other tours as well, but he was far and above the best guide we’ve had so far. He is very friendly, very knowledgeable, and discusses religious experience in a very non-threatening manner, regardless if you are Muslim or Christian or Jewish. We felt very comfortable with him the entire day andhad a great lunch. We did visit a carpet store and ended up buying a very nice carpet. The only advice I would give is if you’re not interested in Turkish carpets don’t do that part of the tour.. We were unable to do the grand bazaar because we chose to spend more time at the carpet shop. We were there for two days so we’re able to visit the grand bizarre on our own the following day and that was great. Would highly recommend Sabit to host your group. We were driven to the old city, but then the tour was primarily walking because all of the sites were very close together. Transportation was also top notch. we had six people in our party and I think it was much better and less expensive, other than the carpet, then the celebrity tour.

I had Shaban as my tour guide - and he was absolutely great! He shared a lot of historical knowledge and asked what I was interested in, tailoring the experience to my interests. As someone who was travelling solo, I was a bit nervous, but Shaban’s manner put me completely at ease. Had a fantastic day learning and seeing the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Grand Baazar, and Hippodrome. Admission fees were only required for Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace - and make sure to bring a head scarf! I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the sights of Istanbul!

An excellent private tour with our guide Zel which explored the main sights in Istanbul including the Blue Mosque, the Basilica Cistern, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Grand Bazaar. Our guide Zel was very friendly and knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. I learned a lot about Turkish history and culture. She took the tour at our pace and we went to a lovely restaurant for lunch. It was a great tour even though it was pouring with rain and we really enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

We had the most amazing day, we saw the five most spectacular sites in Istanbul that were a must for our first visit. Our guide was Sema, she met us at our hotel and apart from skipping the queue at all sites, she helped us with local knowledge about best restaurants, coffee shops and bargains at the Grand Bazaar. Sema explained the history and significance and guided us through the entire day. I highly recommend this tour and Sema if you are lucky to get her. The tour was the highlight of our four day stay in Istanbul

Sam provided an exceptional five plus hour tour for our family of five adults. Logistics were seamless with hotel transfers and pre-arranged tickets in Sultanahmet. The Basilica Cistern was stunning; Sam shared the perfect amount of history while letting us soak in the atmosphere. In the Grand Bazaar, he led us to fascinating "hidden" sections like the gold trading streets. He also recommended a fantastic local restaurant and helped us find an authentic Turkish coffee pot. We saw so much without ever feeling rushed. For an efficient, authentic, and knowledgeable Istanbul experience, Sam is highly recommended!

Lots of walking but so worth it. Fettah was a wonderful guide. Very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He was very patient and answered all of our questions. We really enjoyed seeing the historic sites while talking about religion, politics, family and culture. Probably taboo subjects for most guides but Fettah’s honesty and friendliness made us very comfortable talking about anything. I feel we learned about the Turkish people and not just the information provided in museums. We highly recommend Fettah and will request him again the next time we are in Istanbul.

We had an excellent one-day guided tour of Istanbul (around 6–7 hours) with Sema, and it truly exceeded our expectations. She was incredibly kind, engaging, and highly knowledgeable—not only about the city’s rich history and major monuments, but also about daily life in Istanbul today. What we particularly appreciated was how flexible and customizable the tour was. It felt very personal, and having a private guide made the entire experience much more enjoyable and relaxed. Sema adapted seamlessly to our interests and answered all of our questions with clarity and enthusiasm. A big advantage was the skip-the-line access she provided. While we still needed to purchase entrance tickets for places like Topkapi Palace and the Basilica Cistern, avoiding the queues saved us a significant amount of time—especially valuable in such a busy city. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and a perfect introduction to Istanbul, especially for a first day. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an insightful, efficient, and personalized way to explore the city.

Ege our tour guide was impressive and he has a tourism degree. He will customize your tour in such a way it is seamless for the customer. He has special access to get tickets so you dont havd to stand in lines for tickets. Kids under 8 enter free so make sure you have a copy of passport for kids. Hoya sofia is under renovation but still majestic. Ege is warm, friendly and he will take pics.

This is definitely the ideal way to explore a city, getting someone with such endless and authentic knowledge of the area that can tailor your tour to exactly what you’re looking for. Matt was very kind and knowledgeable about everything. He even tailored the tour so I could see some different things . Since I was a solo traveler he was kind to take pictures of me with the attractions and send to me. He helped me find all the souvenirs I wanted at the grand bazaar. The weather was beautiful!
