No need to pre-book, just turn up and get in the queue. The staff were extremely helpful, informing us when the next trip was leaving and exactly which gate to line up in front of. Very enjoyable trip around Cardiff Bay. Would recommend you try it.

The boat was enclosed with no outside seating so not like the one advertised. It was old with peeling paint. Staff pleasant. What we could hear of the commentary over the engines was interesting.

The exhaust from the engines was so strong it made you feel sick. The commentary didn’t tell you where to look but referenced places that you were not sure you were looking at the right bit. The drinks were so over priced we decided to wait til we got back to shore & the cruise literally circled the bay interior. Booked before we saw the vessel.

Our boat trip was cancelled the day our excursion was planned for 4pm. No email. Was actually sitting on dock waiting for boat. Asked husband to check booking. “Sorry boat captain unavailable. Event cancelled”. Many travels and never had this happen before. Unacceptable considering had email and phone number (pre-paid).

We are disappointed to read this review, as it does not accurately reflect the events that took place.
Unfortunately, our skipper became unexpectedly unwell on the morning of the tour. As safety is our highest priority, we were unable to operate the excursion as planned. As soon as we became aware of the situation, we contacted affected customers through the communication channels available to us via Viator. Our records show that a message was sent at 10:24am on the day of the booking, and attempts were also made to contact customers by telephone where possible.
We would also like to clarify that we did not simply cancel bookings outright. Customers were contacted and asked whether they would consider transferring their booking to the following day so that they could still enjoy their trip. Unfortunately, this option was not suitable for everyone.
Your review states that the booking showed "boat captain unavailable, event cancelled." While the skipper's illness was indeed the reason the scheduled departure could not proceed, this does not accurately represent the fact that alternative arrangements were offered before refunds were processed.
We fully understand the disappointment caused by a last-minute disruption. However, it is incorrect to suggest that customers were not contacted or that no effort was made to provide an alternative solution. We take great pride in our customer service and have clear records of the communications sent on the day.

The boat is loud and old, however the worst part was the fact that you couldn’t hear any of the recorded messages. I would not recommend this to anyone frankly.

This crazy company firstly change my boat time, the next boat never showed up, I was on this phone with crazy woman/operator for 15 mins and lying to her teeth

We’re sorry you feel this way, however we would like to clarify a few points.
We did not simply change your boat time, we contacted you beforehand to request a time change for your convenience. Both scheduled boats did arrive, however you chose not to board as you were waiting in the wrong location, despite being instructed to wait by the lower boardwalk.
Our operator remained on the phone trying to assist you, but unfortunately the boat departed while you were not at the boarding point. We also ask that reviews remain respectful, as there is no need for personal insults or name-calling toward our staff who were trying to help.
We always do our best to accommodate customers and ensure trips run smoothly.

So I booked a "Cardiff Bay Boat Tour" for my father and I on September 30 for an October 29th boat tour (almost a full month in advance).
The day before the tour was meant to take place, I received a message on Viator indicating that there was a scheduling conflict and the boat tour we were meant to have around the bay wouldn't be taking place and we were going to be "upgraded" to the Aquabus tour and they asked for a preference of time. I responded immediately and they confirmed the change.
When we arrived the staff was friendly, though not very interactive (that's okay, not everyone is). They are the only reason this review has more than 1 star--because it wasn't their fault.
Unfortunately our "upgrade" ended up being a glorified taxi ride up the river Taff and back. The only sight we could actually see that we were meant to was the stadium. Everything else was obscured by brush. This was definitely the lesser of the two possible tours.
The only reason I'm not asking for money back is because we did take the boat both ways up and down the river, and I believe the staff deserves to be paid.
But this was less than transparent business practices. Maybe the captain for the bay tour got sick or something--that does happen--and they really needed to cancel. But I did see other boat tours by this company (their logo is on the side of the boat after all) on the bay giving tours. And there were open seats. We could have been rebooked for an earlier time... so either they are incredibly disorganized and didn't think of this solution or they thought they would take advantage...
This certainly didn't feel like the upgrade we were promised.

Sadly couldn't hear a word of the commentary running on tape, and the boat itself was not the one advertised. It was also a little old and tired.
