We absolutely loved our 1 hour Bow River Trail ride. The views were fantastic and the horses were very gentle and mild. Our guide Crystal was the excellent. She was very kind and genuine, and loves her job and the horses. She pointed out so many interesting sights, including two separate small groups of elk. She shared a lot of history or the area as well as the horse ranch. We would highly recommend Banff Trail Riders and ask for Crystal!

It was great , beautiful horses and scenery. The Staff was awesome and very friendly. Nice simple walk with the horses.
We had an amazing ride with Cecilia and Bree along the beautiful Bow River. We were all given very clear instructions on how to handle out horses which put our minds at ease. Our horses were calm and easily managed. Along the ride Cecilia pointed and spoke what we were seeing and many other details of the area it was both interesting and fun! At the end of the ride, they took a photo of my husband and I as a memento of our trip! Highly recommend!
Was good, really enjoyed. Sophie our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Good for someone with no horse riding ability. Convenient lockers for bags.
This was an amazing experience. Our guides helped us feel comfortable with our horses and the ride was so fun. We learned a bit about the area and even saw some Elk. Highly recommend.
Stables are set in beautiful surroundings for sure, horses all look well looked after and fed well. I am an experienced veteran rider and horse owner myself. The I hour ride was nice but felt too mundane for myself and the horse I was allocated was too dosile and found unresponsive to keep up with the horse in front as asked to .
Maybe for future reference, trail riders should ask riders previous experience and allocate accordingly and maybe different groups??
If the 3 hour experience is the same then we would certainly not choose this ...
A photo stop by the river would also have been nice .
Our guide Marnie gave a running commentary as we rode, was very informative, with lots of interesting information and the trail had beautiful views of the scenery. All very safe and well organized
We had a relaxing experience with amazing views on the way! The staff were informative and welcoming :)
Amazing experience I loved how much there cared for the horses. You get weighed so no excessive work for horse and they take turns on break.
On the ride we saw dear and dome beautiful views over epic landscapes
Definitely would recommend! It was our first time horseback riding, and we had such a great time.
Clear instructions were given on how to handle and manage the horses, and it was clear that the horses were well-trained and well taken care of. Bailey was our guide, and she was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable about the “dudes,” which is what they call their horses since they’re all boys, as well as the surrounding area and local wildlife.
There was also plenty of parking available at the location, which was very convenient. If you’re going, definitely make sure to bring bug spray and sunscreen!
Overall, such a fun experience and a great way to take in the beautiful scenery.
loved this trip ,horses so good and staff were great , scenery lovely even saw a coyote,Guide Bailey fun and knowlegable first time riding western would love to do it again,
would highly recommend
Great trail ride with excellent guides that share information about the area and the stables. Horses were great for beginners and those that have not ridden before.
This was such an amazing experience, our guide was wonderful! We took our 11 year old for their first time and it’s safe to say they’re hooked! Beautiful scenery!
It was great fun we're both in our late sixties so fun for all ages staff put us at ease we were given instructions before we were allowed on the horses
It was beautiful and a well run enterprise. We all loved it! Our guide was very kind and helpful and well informed.

Thank you for the wonderful review! We’re delighted your whole group loved the beautiful experience and that everything ran smoothly. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with your knowledgeable and helpful guide. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure!
Very enjoyable experience. The guides were knowledgeable and helpful. The horses were gentle and the trails were beautiful.
If you haven’t ridden before, you are riding an animal that can make choices and you don’t know what their reactions can be in any circumstance.
Be prepared for dust and d dirt flying in the wind. We saw a adolescent black bear on our ride. It was cool.
Not a good experience at all. The customer service here needs some help. The horses and the stables are beautiful but they need to get their restrictions to ride out more boldly before you pay $250.

Thank you for your feedback and for your kind comments about our horses and stables. We’re sorry the experience and customer service did not meet your expectations. Our participation restrictions are in place for the wellbeing of both guests and horses. They are included on our product pages, within the booking terms at checkout, and in our information emails. We understand that important details can still be missed, and we are always looking for ways to make these requirements even clearer throughout the booking process.
We had a wonderful time overall, and I’m very glad we chose this place for our horseback riding experience. The horses were beautiful, the scenery was amazing, and it was a memorable experience for our group.
My own experience was excellent. This wasn’t my first time horseback riding, and I felt comfortable throughout the ride. When we were getting off the horses, I mentioned that one of my knees was a bit locked and I was having trouble maneuvering. The coach was very understanding and immediately asked another staff member to come over and help me, which I really appreciated.
However, one member of our group, who was riding a horse for the first time, had a disappointing experience with the same coach that I think is worth mentioning because it could help improve the experience for future beginners.
As a beginner, she expected clear, patient instruction. While we were getting off the horses, the coach repeatedly told her to “sit up.” Unfortunately, there was a communication misunderstanding, and she interpreted the instruction as simply straightening her back, which she did. The coach repeated the instruction several times, sounding increasingly frustrated, but didn’t explain what she meant until afterward. Only then did she explain that the horse was urinating and that my friend’s position was putting pressure on its back.
My friend felt terrible because she genuinely cares about animals and would never intentionally make a horse uncomfortable. A brief explanation the first time would have prevented the misunderstanding. As someone riding for the first time, it wasn’t obvious that the horse beneath her was urinating, especially with several horses standing close together.
Later, while she was trying to stop the horse, she was being cautious because she didn’t want to hurt the horse. Instead of calmly demonstrating the correct technique, the coach abruptly took the reins from her hands and told her she was hurting the horse. She grabbed them forcefully enough that, had my friend been holding them more tightly, she could have ended up with rope burns.
We completely understand that the horses’ welfare must always come first, and we appreciate that riders need to be corrected when they’re doing something wrong. However, first-time riders also need patient instruction, clear explanations, and an understanding that they may not be familiar with equestrian terminology or know why a particular instruction is important. A calm explanation would have corrected the issue immediately while also making a beginner feel supported instead of discouraged.
Overall, we genuinely enjoyed our visit and would still recommend this place. My own experience was excellent, and everyone else in our group also had a great time. I’m sharing this feedback simply because I hope future beginners receive the same level of patience and support that would help them leave feeling confident, encouraged, and excited to ride again.

Thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful and constructive feedback. We’re delighted that your group enjoyed the beautiful horses, scenery, and overall experience, and that our team responded quickly when you needed assistance with your knee.
We’re sorry your friend’s first riding experience left her feeling discouraged. Instructions sometimes need to be given promptly when a horse’s comfort or control is involved, and a staff member may need to take the reins to assist. However, directions should always be communicated calmly and clearly, especially for first time riders who may not understand the terminology or reason behind them. A brief explanation could have prevented this misunderstanding and helped your friend feel supported. We will review your comments with our team as we continue working to provide beginners with patient and encouraging guidance. Thank you for still recommending us.
Well run operation with beautiful horses. Got there early and got to look at the horses before riding. Hundreds of them. Staff was excellent!
A very leisurely ride perfect for families! The horses were all very mild and well suited for our kids first ride ever (kids ages 8 and 9). The guides were very friendly, accommodating, and informative! Trail ride was mostly along a shaded woodland path and not as many views as I'd expected, but still some breathtaking moments. Bring bug spray!
I had an amazing time! All the staff were very friendly, the horses were cooperative, and the entire experience was fun and relaxing. We rode through the woods and along the river. It was very beautiful. Thank you very much!
I booked a 1 hour horseback riding slot for $230 on 06/26/2026. I arrived five minutes before the scheduled time only to be told I was too late to join. There was nothing in the emails stating that I needed to be half an hour early. The only mention of that was in a small fine print on the downloadable tickets. They told me they could not refund or reschedule and I had to fly home to Toronto that night. The people I spoke with both in-person and over the phone were telling me different alibis which tells me they could have helped me get a refund/reschedule but chose not to. An absolute waste of experience and I would never recommend to anybody.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear how disappointing this experience was, especially as it was part of your trip before flying home.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds or reschedule rides when guests arrive after the required check-in time. The 30-minute early check-in requirement is communicated in the booking confirmation, website and ticket, as all riders must complete waivers, be fitted with helmets, and attend the mandatory safety briefing before the group departs.
We understand this was frustrating, and we're sorry we weren't able to provide the outcome you were hoping for. We appreciate your feedback and will continue looking for ways to make our check-in requirements even more visible during the booking process.
I would like to give 0 rating to stables 100 sundace road , i know we were just 5 mi late for ride at 4 oclock 24 june, they didnt even hear and ignored us worst experience ever with this stables. I called tham and told to arrange for ride to next day they asked for payment ridiculous experience , i will go to banff tourist department and file a legal steps towards stables .
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate late arrivals. The 30-minute early check-in is necessary for waivers, helmet fitting, horse assignments, and the mandatory safety briefing before the ride departs.
Once the safety briefing has started we cannot get guest on the tour. We also offered the option to rebook for the following day at the standard rate, as our late arrival policy does not allow for complimentary rescheduling or refunds.
We understand this was frustrating, especially if you had been looking forward to the ride, and we're sorry we couldn't provide the outcome you were hoping for. We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best.
People and horses was nice. But could have been better with pics and scenery. Basic ride thru most of it. Would have been great to stop and admire the more picturesque spots..

Thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoyed our horses and staff. Our rides are designed to provide an authentic horseback experience through the forests and trails of Banff National Park, with a few scenic viewpoints along the route. If you're looking for more stops and mountain vistas, we recommend one of our longer rides. We appreciate your comments and hope to welcome you back!
The trail ride was very informative and extremely well operated. It was very safe and thoughtfully planned, and, of course, lots of fun.
Very enjoyable ride. The guides and staff very knowledgeable and well trained. Horses were gentle and knew the trail well.
Great time. Both of us were seniors and havent ridden a horse in 40 yrs. Horses were great and the views were beautiful
There was no experience. Because of your company’s poor communication, my wife and I weren’t able to actually partake in the excursion…on our 5-year anniversary no less.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
We're very sorry to hear this, especially as it was meant to be part of your 5-year anniversary celebration. Based on your review alone, we're unable to identify what happened. We'd appreciate the opportunity to look into it. Please contact our customer support team with your booking details, and we'll be happy to review the situation and follow up with you directly.
Wonderful views! Only recommendation is for them to cut the branches more because so many times we had to duck down or to the side. Even got scratches on my leg. Recommend wearing thicker pants and def long pants/long sleeves
