Take extra time for the trek to the cosmic ray center. Spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and the town of Banff

We rode the local transit there from downtown Banff. So much easier and cheaper than driving and parking there. We got there early and they let us change our ride time. Such a beautiful ride up. Smooth and relaxing! Since we arrived early for dinner reservations, we enjoyed the sights and the events held for Sunset Festival while waiting. Roasting marshmallows and listening to the solo musician was entertaining. The blankets and firepits were a nice touch. We didn't walk the boardwalk to the observation center, but many people were doing it. The Anniversary dinner we had at The Sky Bistro was fabulous. We sat next to the windows, being able to see the scenery during that time was something special. The drinks, Bison tenderloin and dessert were some of the best we have ever had. It was a bit pricey but worth it. The waitress we had was a sweet gal from Australia. She was fun to talk to as were the guests around us. The ride down the mountain was seamless, taking more pictures for memories. We viewed the pictures at the bottom that the Gondola company took of us and even though we didn't purchase any they were fun to look at. Wait time for the transit was minimal and we were back to our resort in short time. Great experience all the way around. We would highly recommend this for all ages going to Banff.

Loved this experience. Getting people on and off the Banff Gondola is a well-oiled operation. The gondola cars themselves are small--only 4 to a car so keep that in mind if you are claustrophobic and are afraid of heights. Also if you order your tickets in advance like we did, you can use those tickets to get you to the Gondola base free of charge using the town's bus system, the No. 1 to Sulphur Mountain. On arrival take the boardwalk hike to the neighboring peak and take in the views. Be sure to bring some extra layers because it can be much colder there and go slow on your walk if you just arrived in Banff and are adjusting to higher elevation.

Easy free shuttle from downtown to gondola both ways. Very speedy, efficient boarding and unloading. Shopping, food, restrooms both at bottom and top of the mountain.

A fun place to go… they have live music now, and 2 observation levels to get great views. If ur willing to climb to the top of Sulphuric Mountain (first down a couple flights of stairs , then up a lot more :-), give you 360 degree views, and also a pair of the famous Canada chairs, noting a great view.
We made a reservation at The Sky Bistro, and it has a great view, and stunning sunset views (say 9-10 pm) and it is a very romantic place to dine. The food was a highlight of our Canada trip. I loved the Lamb Chop appetizer as well as our Rib Eye steak which we split.
They easily accommodated my food sensitivities, including a gluten free dessert. I highly recommend this as one of your special dining
Nights out. If u get to the parking area early ($18) you can visit the Banff Upper Falls outside- bring ur bathing suits or they’ll rent u those, lockers and towels ($40 for 2) . Mass transit to the gondola works well, and met the last gondola down from the mountain.
Those with families can visit the northern lights restaurant, also at the top of the mountain.

It is amazing stunning and worth the price. We had lunch there on the one side it was a buffet adults were $55 and was delicious we were able to extend our time so we could have lunch and enjoy more. The hot springs was a bust it is just a large man made pool with fresh spring water. Looked dirty didn’t and up doing it. Disappointing. June 26 th, 2026

It’s very touristy. Standing in lines, people everywhere…but…the views at the top were really amazing! We were glad we did it. We did also do the Norquay chair lift. Locally owned and run, it was a nicer “experience”. Not crazy crowds, not nearly as expensive, and the restaurant at the top of Norquay was a highlight of our trip.

Breathtaking views, worth every penny.
You get great views of banff and the mountains and a souvenir picture is an option at the end of the ride.
Banff tours travels tour guide Greg was able to adjust the booked time of my ride.

Went to ticket booth in advance to get tickets. Worked fine. Trip itself was outstanding to top of Sulfur Mountain. Highly recommend this activity.
Amanda_M, Jun 2026
So fun! Ticketing was easy and they let us on early both going up and coming down. We ate at Northern Lights at the top, food was not bad.

Chuck_N, Jun 2026
Superb view of surroundings from gondola and at top. Very worthwhile.
Boardwalk well worth the walk. Don’t miss the mountain goats near the gondola station!

Kristen_U, Jun 2026
Left our phone in the bus and the driver so kindlt returned it to us. Thank you for the honesty we appreciate it
Judy_N, Jun 2026
It was a fabulous experience. A must see! The views are breathtaking and the exhibits informative. I would return.
Michael_S, Jun 2026
Beautiful view. On top there are beautiful views, nice photo exhibit, cool movie, good coffee shop and a nice restaurant. The employees are young people, mostly from Australia. They were extremely friendly.
Geraldine_H, Jun 2026
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ride up and down is a bit scary if you have problems with heights, but you are fully enclosed and it is quite smooth.
The facilities at the top are large and have lots of room for viewing, relaxing, taking pictures, learning and eating. We were able to make last minute reservations at the Sky Bistro, and it was well worth it. We saw many big horned sheep, a whory Marmot and some chipmunks.
This experience was the highlight of our trip.

This experience is a must!!! We felt as though we were looking at an incredible painting! The view is extraordinary!!
Ellwood_Z, Jun 2026
Well run! The ticket agents were very helpful - it was unclear when we ordered the tickets that we would need to get the tickets printed. It was very helpful to have attendants at boarding and unboarding. Displays were great!
John_a, Jun 2026
Great views/ wonderful lunch in the restaurant. Very efficient at moving people- well worth it- and Viator made it easy.
David_S, Jun 2026
Bring that extra layer. The winds are stronger and it's chilly on top. Beautiful views. You need to hours minimum to take the boardwalk to the highest point.
Mehboob_L, Jun 2026
Keep at least 3 hours for this event. Amazing Natural beauty and the facilities provided is exceptional !!
Even in summer , especially when it is breezy, it’s pretty cold. Keep warm stuff handy!!
Chuck_B, Jun 2026
Definitely a must do in Banff. Staff was awesome! The views were incredible. Consider using the shuttle.
Colette_M, Jun 2026
That most people spend about 2 hours looking around. It would be nice to let people know more about the board walk. Country how many stairs to the top, the levels and that there are places to rest along the way.
Dawnetta_P, Jun 2026
The tour and stops were fantastic, all around. One warning if you stop at Bow Falls, there are no bathroom facilities there.
Robert_B, Jun 2026
An amazing time! The views were astounding. Had a great lunch at the buffet while admiring the views and were able to spot the walks we wanted to take after lunch.
Dale_B, Jun 2026
Bus #1 takes you to the gondola free of charge when you show the driver your ticket and can be picked up at Caribou West. Takes about 20 minutes.
Sandra_E, Jun 2026
It was a well organized activity. My family and I had a wonderful experience. The views were stunning!
