Are guided tours on Phillip Island worth it?
Yes, guided tours of Phillip Island are worth it. A guide adds real value out on the water and along the coast, offering commentary while you enjoy the Penguin Parade or scan for seals and whales. Most include round-trip transportation from Melbourne, so there's no need to stress about timings or the drive.
Per one customer who booked the Phillip Island Seal-Watching Cruise, "Amazing experience, best part of our family trip to Phillip Island. Highly recommended. Operator has provided great service, and they have many staff to support all the visitors on board and even offered free self-service coffee and cheesecake. It was baby-friendly for our 1-year-old, and we had an amazing experience watching seals very close in their natural habitat."

Consider an all-day or multi-day tour to pack in as many sights and activities as possible. The Phillip Island: Golden Hour Penguin Express Tour w/ Island Pickup takes you to explore the seaside village of Cowes, then on to the Nobbies Centre to scan for wallabies and Cape Barren geese, plus the fur seal colony at Seal Rocks. You'll then visit Summerland Beach, where you can watch the Penguin Parade—hundreds of little penguins waddling ashore at dusk—and learn about the conservation work that goes into protecting the colony.
