Touring Nice
Guide did a fine job of putting everything in historical and cultural context and orienting me in my subsequent explorations of Nice. He made the city more interesting and accessible.

Great way to learn about Nice’s history and the landmarks marking same
Great way to learn about the history of Nice and see many of the landmarks connected to same. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and kept up a running commentary as we made our way through the old town and up to the summit of the hill where we ended the tour. Highly recommend ed!!

An afternoon to remember in Nice!
Aileen our Tour Guide was FANTASTIC! Took great pride in her city (Nice), her history, had flexibility (One person in the group had a bad leg, 6 people in the group spoke English and two spoke Italian) and finally just had a nice way of giving us all an afternoon to remember.

Great walking tour of Nice!
Amazing tour of all the essentials of Nice! Sofia was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide who took us all around and explained the history and culture. She gave us many tips of good places to eat and return during the rest of our stay in Nice. Not to mention Sofia is a great photographer and indulged us to take pictures at all the sites. Great tour and highly recommend!

Excellent!
Excellent tour of Nice. Nejib was knowledgeable and very friendly. He was flexible with people with limited mobility and gave us recommendations for places to eat and see which was useful to me as this was my first day in Nice.

Nice Old City Tour
An excellent tour. You will see and hear the major sites of the old city including Castel Hill. Although there’s a lot of walking, our guide Carmela, was insightful including historical aspects of the city. Our guide even sent us a list of favorite restaurants after the tour was over. Well worth your time!

An exceptional introduction to Nice with a friendly, funny and fascinating guide.
A fascinating introduction to Nice with a wonderful guide. I would recommend everyone to take this excursion early in your visit as Nejib is able to give such great advice about places to eat and how to get about. The 2 hours flew by and Nejib was so friendly our small group of 7 quickly gelled. Wear comfortable walking shoes and although there’s lots of walking as the oldest in our group (by a number of years!) I was easily able to manage the pace. Nejib took lots of group photos which he kindly distributed after the tour.

A fun morning
Najib was a very gracious host for our walking tour of Nice. He was a wealth of information and humour and spent more time than the tour suggested which was great for us for it meant we got to see more and learn more of Nice’s history

People Also Ask
What is Castle Hill in Nice, and why is it a popular tourist destination?
Castle Hill is the best-known viewpoint in Nice, crowning the seaside city with its hilltop park and historic ruins. Here, you can capture photos that include both the Bay of Angels and the red roofs of the city. Head to the observation terrace near the waterfall for the best panoramas.
What are the main attractions to see on Castle Hill?
Although there’s little left of the hill’s Château de Nice, the ruins make for an interesting photo. Check out the Bellanda Tower, once dedicated to the defense of the city, which marks a popular viewpoint. Other things to see include the Château de Nice Cemetery, playground, and a man-made waterfall.
Are guided tours available on Castle Hill?
Yes, day trips to Nice and guided city tours often make Castle Hill a must-see stop on their itineraries. There are also sightseeing experiences that focus mostly on Castle Hill, with walking tours and food tours among the options. Electric bike tours are popular, minimizing the uphill climb.
How can I reach Castle Hill in Nice?
Take the free Castle Hill elevator from the eastern end of the Bay of Angels on Quai des États-Unis, or pay to ride Le Petit Train de Nice and sightsee on the way. Walkers can follow the cobblestone pathway behind the elevator on a route that takes around 20 minutes.
What are the best times to visit Castle Hill to avoid crowds?
To avoid the worst crowds, head up there in the early morning; the hilltop park opens around breakfast time. Castle Hill is at its liveliest from afternoon to evening, and while there will be more people around, there’s no better place to see the sun set in Nice.
What are some nearby attractions to visit after exploring Castle Hill in Nice?
After exploring Castle Hill, head back down toward the seafront to explore Vieux Nice, the city’s charming old town. You’ll pass the Cours Saleya market, which bustles with flowers and food until early afternoon, and then discover the old town’s Place Rossetti where the Cathedral of Nice awaits.
