What are people saying about Inverness

MacDonald/MacPherson descendent
I want to thank Neil for a great all day tour to Eilean Donan Castle and Isle of Skye. Where other trips could be mostly about the history of the places, Neil shared additional information about the unique geology and landscapes of Skye, which I would not have gotten on my own. Neil also shared his stories about the similarities and differences between his home in the Orkney Islands and the Isle of Skye, and options for hiking and kayaking in and around Skye. Additionally, I appreciate Neil's friendliness and helpfulness, as well as his willingness to go the extra mile to get us to the Quiraing, when weather and expected construction projects seemed likely to keep is from such a beautiful prospect. Finally, I was looking to buy a scarf or blanket with the Isle of Skye plaid, and Neil pointed me to the right shops so I could buy both! Thank you for such a wonderful experience, Neil.

History, pop culture, flora and fauna, and "homework"
My husband and I want to thank Charlie for a terrific day tour to Clava Cairns, Culloden, Beauly Priory, and Glen Affric. We could not have had a better day! Charlie is a font of history and local knowledge and he really prepared us to understand the significance of each site, the challenges of preserving the sites, and tips on what to look for during our visits. It was a lot to pack into 8-9 hours, but we really feel like we made the most of our day. I also have to commend Charlie on his humour and encouragement to the group to enjoy our time together, pop culture references to the Outlander series, and his photography skills. :-) My husband enjoyed speaking to Charlie about the trees and vegetation in Glen Affric. Whereas, being an asthmatic, I appreciate Charlie's care and gentle encouragement to climb to the lookout in Glen Affric for the 180 degree view, as it was worth the climb! Just gorgeous ❤️ Finally, I gave Charlie some "homework", which he good naturedly accepted - finding the meaning and derivation of "Affric", and reading up on the faerie world, evidence of which seemed to be all around us at Clava Cairns and in Glen Affric

Amazing tour with an amazing guide.
I went on the Isle of Skye tour on October 28. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had some of the most wonderful stories. He is quite a storyteller and drew the audience into the tales of not only history by the local lore as well. I’ve been all over the world taking tours. This was by far my favorite tour. He even stopped at an unscheduled location so we could see the highland cows. As far as the scenery goes, the landscape was quite majestic. It was far more beautiful than I imagined.

Fun day in the rain and wind
As with most tours they are only as good as the guide. Danny was top notch. He was engaging and knowledgeable of the locations visited. If I had one negative thing about the tours, it would be that, it would be nice to have an actual guide at each site rather than the driver talk about the site on the way there. I realize this might not be feasible, perhaps it isn't allowed because you might be interfering with local guides at the site, but it would be nice to have someone there who could answer questions on the spot. Otherwise, I have no complaints., except the weather which no one controls.

Inverness, the biggest city in the Scottish Highlands, is an excellent base from which to explore the area. There are dozens of Inverness tours to choose from, including excursions to 1,000-year-old castles, the Isle of Skye, whisky distilleries, Outlander and Harry Potter filming locations, and a Bronze Age burial site. Just outside Inverness, you can also visit the historic Culloden battlefield as well as Loch Ness—you may not see the lake’s famous monster, but you’ll see her likeness everywhere.
