What are people saying about Hanoi

Wow!
This was an amazing experience! Bit of a struggle because it was SO hot while we were there (I think 112 degrees Fahrenheit real-feel), but it was absolutely beautiful. Louis our guide was hilarious, real, and knowledgeable. We stopped at the old capital, checked out the temple and learned some history. Then it was on to hike to the top for some absolutely unreal views. (Not for the faint of heart-i thought i might keel over from heat stroke, but bless his heart Louis stuck by us to get some pics and make sure i didn't fall off the side of the mountain). After that, we went on a boat ride for about an hour or so, and oh my goodness the scenery was SO COOL. Stopped for lunch after the boat ride (goat is surprisingly tasty lol) and then onward to the motorbike tour! Learned a ton there and saw things we'd never get the chance to if we'd been riding bikes in that heat. The whole thing was a good pace (maybe a bit more time for the hike since I was dying a slow death on the way up that mountain) but overall a really good pace. 10 out of 10 recommend.

I did feel like I was...
I did feel like I was actually on paradise vacation. Boat staff was very friendly and would go extra miles to accommodate your needs. Just be polite and kind to them. Tour leader Phong was funny and informative. The caves were phenomenal. Speed boat ride was a must!

Excellent tour
Outstanding day from beginning to end—truly one of the most memorable experiences of our trip. Ninh Bình is absolutely a must-do while visiting Hanoi.
The day started with a smooth and punctual hotel pickup, and everything was exceptionally well organized from start to finish. The itinerary flowed seamlessly, making the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable.
Our tour guide, Hana, was outstanding—professional, organized, incredibly knowledgeable, and spoke excellent English. She made the day both informative and fun, and her passion for the region really enhanced the experience. She was assisted by Happy, who is currently training as a tour guide, and he was wonderful as well—friendly, helpful, and clearly very promising.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hanoi who wants an unforgettable day trip. A truly exceptional experience.

This is the one
If you’re trying to figure out what Ninh Binh day trip to take, go with Aloha Travel.
Our tour guide, Phong, spoke excellent English, had a great sense of humor, and kept the day moving. He gave great information about both history and culture. Many thanks for his hospitality and professionalism.
The pickup at our hotel was right on time. The van held 9 passengers. Each person had their own seat, with easily accessible plugs for charging. The free WiFi was some of the best we’ve had! We were also offered bottles of water twice during the trip. There was plenty of room for our backpacks, which we were able to leave on the bus while we toured.
The trip out of the city was about two hours. About halfway along the route, we stopped at a government rest stop. It had clean bathrooms and a snack bar. There was also the option to purchase various crafts.
The mountain climb was steep, and the stone steps were uneven the whole way. It was also quite crowded. The view was good, but not very clear.
The bike ride through part of the city and into the countryside was short, but fun.
The boat ride was about 1.5 hours long. The boats are metal and shallow, so not very comfortable. But the scenery is mesmerizing, and will definitely take your mind off your discomfort. You’ll get a sales pitch to buy silk embroidered pictures about halfway through, but it wasn’t very high pressure.
Lunch was near the water at a local restaurant. The food was a set menu and served family style. There were both meat and vegetarian options.
Overall, it was a great experience and a nice break from the city. We’ve compared notes with others who have taken the tour with other tour companies, and not all offerings are the same. This one met all of our expectations, and I would highly recommend this tour.

Equally special to do
No it’s not the same as Halong Bay, worth doing too! Both places are different and both special to do. This Ninh Binh experience was so comfortable as we travelled in a 9-persons group tour in a small van limousine that had massaging seats 😳 and the different places, activities and lunch was all very enjoyable. Boating down the river and through the caves was amazing to do amongst the picturesque limestone hills and padi fields. Hubby and I had a great time!

I went into this food...
I went into this food tour hoping to experience something authentic, and it genuinely exceeded that expectation. It felt less like a “tour” and more like being guided through the city by someone who deeply understands and respects the culture, the food, and the stories behind it.
Mai, our guide, was a huge part of what made the experience so meaningful. She brought a grounded, thoughtful presence to the tour—sharing context, history, and personal insight in a way that felt natural and never forced. You could tell she cares deeply about what she does, and that translated into every stop along the way.
We moved through small, local spots I never would have found on my own—places that felt lived-in and real. Each dish had intention behind it, and Mai took the time to explain not just what we were eating, but how it connects to daily life in Hanoi. There was a really nice balance of structure and flexibility, which allowed space to slow down, notice, and actually enjoy the experience.
What stood out most to me was how grounded and mindful the whole tour felt. It wasn’t rushed or overly polished. It honored the food, the people preparing it, and the environment we were in. I left feeling full, of course, but also more connected—to the city, to its rhythm, and to the experience of being present in a new place.
I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for something real, intentional, and quietly memorable.

5-star service and a wonderful day!
My guide was Sao and she went above-and-beyond to make sure I had an amazing experience! She taught me about history, culture, and took me to the spots I really wanted to see. She was absolutely delightful and I'm hoping to connect with her the next time I visit. 5-star service and a truly wonderful day!

Awesome trip!!
I had an amazing experience on my Ninh Binh excursion in Vietnam! From the very beginning, everything was handled professionally—the tour guide Sunny picked me up right on time from my hotel, which made the day start stress-free.
He managed all the activities smoothly and kept everything running on schedule without making it feel rushed. His English was very good, and he provided clear instructions throughout the day, which made the entire experience easy and enjoyable.
The lunch buffet was another highlight—there was a wide variety of dishes, including plenty of vegetarian options, and everything was fresh and delicious.
The itinerary itself was fantastic, with a great mix of activities including a temple visit, a peaceful bamboo boat ride, a fun bicycle ride, and hiking. It was the perfect balance of sightseeing and adventure.
Overall, it was a well-organized and memorable trip. I’d definitely recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Vietnam!

The best part of our Hanoi visit
This is a blast! I was a little nervous about the overall riding part but Simone and Thu were amazing drivers and made the experience fun. We went to four different stops, walked around some secluded parts of the city and had so much incredible food. Would have done this again if I could have and definitely request Simone and Thu if you want the best hosts.

Absolutely worthwhile, extremely good value adventure among Ha Long Bay’s gorgeous islets
Absolutely worthwhile, extremely good value adventure among Ha Long Bay’s gorgeous islets. The 3 stops included kayaking through a cave to an enclosed area with monkeys (row boats available for people with less energy), a guided walk through Surprise Cave and then Titop Island where you can either walk to the viewpoint (about 100m up, lots of steps) to enjoy fabulous views or chill on the beach. The tour itself was very well organized. Our home base was the boat Vera Cruise where we were served a delicious lunch as we left the cruise terminal. Staff were available at all times; beyond the included lunch there was a comprehensive beverage menu. Our guide Quan was great and kept us on track time-wise. The day we went was unusually crowed due to 2 big ships in town that day and the weather was overcast/hazy but we still had a fantastic time.

Great tour to see main attractions
This tour is perfect for first timers to Hanoi and helps you get aquainted with the city. Guide and driver were exceptional. Lan, our guide, was very good at telling us about each place and was super friendly. She went out of her way to assist us throughout the tour.

Half day tour that is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This half day tour is very interesting. The process of hat-making and the painting process to make it look attractively colorful is so unique. The incense village was so gorgeous. People adores the wonderful color (mostly red). This one is a must to see especially if you prefer half- day tour. Our guide Lana was fantastic. She is very good from beginning to the end. She explains the whole tour and what to expect and always find time to answer all our questions.
