Top Cairo Half-day Tours

We did the tour in the pyramids, along with a camel ride around the Pryamids, and lunch. Our tour guide was Mo. Mo speaks perfect English, Spanish, and Arabic. He is extremely knowledgeable about ancient Egypt as both of his parents are tour guides, so he grew up learning about it. Mo picked us up from our hotel, on time. During the drive to the pyramids, Mo gave us some background information on both Cairo and ancient Egypt. He broke down stories of kings and other important figures into sections. He would give little little bits of information at one site, then at the next site, where there was more supporting evidence, he would continue the story a bit further. This kept us engaged and wondering where it will go. We spent the day trying to figure out what the ending will be. The camel rides were the perfect length, as your legs will begin to chafe a bit. If you give a bit of a tip, you can ask the guy with the white horse and red mane to let you sit on the horse for a picture. It will get up on its hind legs and the pyramids will be in the background. Mo brought us to one of his favourite restaurants in Cairo, and the food was delicious. Ask for the Nutella pastry dessert. We had to get seconds. Mo brought us safely back to our hotel. Overall the tour would have been good, but Mo made it extra special. His knowledge and story telling skills are one of the best that we've ever experienced on a tour, and we would highly recommend him in to anyone.

Our driver wasn't just a chauffeur; he was more like a coordinator—getting our tickets sorted and ensuring we were comfortable on the boat before leaving us to enjoy the night. The entertainment and food on board were great, and having a friendly face waiting to drive us back to the hotel made the night perfect. 10/10!

Mohamed was an excellent guide. For context, I booked this trip the night before the visit. In fewer than 8 hours, they set me up for a magical trip. The pick up from my hotel was flawless. Mohamed starting the tour in the car, while the friendly driver provided a smooth ride through traffic. By the time we arrived, I felt well prepared with context about the museum's creation and collections. He was excellent at asking me questions that helped me remember different elements in the museum. If pop quizzes in school were this fun, I would long for them every day. I had a short amount of time to visit, but since I was the only person on the trip, Mohamed was able to guide me through all 3 museum buildings, where I got to see the highlights and slow down whenever I got curious. As I finished, I wanted to get some souvenirs, so he and the driver brought me to a few spots in Giza, which while sharing goods also shared more history with me. I got back to my hotel with time to spare, and I am awed by how well Mohamed guided me through this experience. Some things I especially appreciated: - I wasn't sure when to leave, but the company saw my (pre-purchased) ticket time and the distance from my hotel, and provided a suggested departure time. This led to me arriving at a relaxed pace at the gates one minute before I could enter. So I felt like I could walk right in.

Bishoy was our tour guide for this trip. He was very knowledgeable, kind and did what we wanted to do vs what the tour stated. He took us to a restaurant we would prefer rather than what the tour had listed and we really enjoyed that. We went to different shops perfumery, spices and then to Khan E Khalil Market. Definitely recommend Bishoy as he demeaned was very sophisticated and respectful unlike the other 4 tour guides we faced!

My husband and I just had the most amazing day visiting Saqqara, Dahshur and Memphis. We were picked up from our hotel at the agreed time, visited the three sites, plus a papyrus museum and an oil and essence boutique. Nice buffet lunch with view to the Giza pyramids. Our private guide Menna and our driver Abdallah were simply amazing, flexible, understanding and easygoing! Best choice to discover Egypt!

This is a wonderful tour. This tour provides a great personalized experience. Khalefa is an amazing guide and provides a comprehensive experience that dives deep into the history and culture of the tour destinations. Khalefa also recommended great additional stops and does not pressure you into anything. He was also very instrumental in helping me relocate my scarf during the tour of the Sphinx. 10/10

Little did I know quite how fascinating this tour would be. The early Coptic Churches that we visited were from the 4th Century AD! My guide, Ereny, slowly drew me into the Coptic world - the first church, the Hanging Church, has some incredible icon artwork, carvings and overall design and Ereny explained the significance and history of everything as we went around. The tour was very friendly and relaxed, plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere in these buildings and take photos. The Cave Churches are also remarkable, you really have to be there to see the scale of what they have done. This tour, which includes lunch, is probably the best value tour that I went on - not only for that reason, but for the places that you visit, I would recommend it to anyone.

From the number of other tourists we chatted to on arrival in Cairo about this tour, we wondered why no-one had heard of the palaces and that they weren’t on people’s itinerary. In our view, they all missed out. The three palaces were all very different: one in the design of an Indian palace, one with over 300 bedrooms for the ruler’s wives and one with most ornate mix of Moorish and Arabic architecture. And yet… hardly any western tourists? Our guide Hakiem, and our driver for the day, Nasser, met us at our hotel out by the GEM and in Cairo’s traffic it took almost an hour to reach New Cairo/Heliopolis and the Empain Palace. There were different options available to choose during the day and we opted to have some authentic lunch in the city, near Tahrir Square and down a very narrow side street at a koshary restaurant. It was a great experience, as was the whole day. From start to finish it took about 7 hours and our team of two from Emo tours could not have been more helpful. NB most tours tend to be on a private basis, and your guide and driver will be with you all day, making sure that you get quickly into sites and that the vehicle is very close upon exit. Driving is manic but everyone seems to understand where the others are going… the lines on the main roads are purely for decoration… so you just have to trust!
