⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Nile Cruise Experience with a Few Things to Know
Overall, our experience with the Nile Cruise tour company was very positive. From the beginning, they were professional, punctual, reliable, and very well organized. We felt worry-free from the moment we booked, which made a huge difference while traveling in Egypt.
Communication was excellent. We received information and updates shortly after making our booking, and the company also offered additional services, including a private Cairo tour, which we accepted. We were very happy with that experience as well.
One thing that was disappointing was the payment method (additional tours) . We had agreed that payment would be made by Visa, but at the last minute we were told that we had to pay in cash. This was inconvenient and frustrating, especially when traveling and planning expenses.
We also appreciated the complimentary airport-to-hotel transfer in Aswan. That was a very nice touch and made our arrival much easier.
Day 1 – Aswan
We were picked up from our hotel and visited the High Dam and Philae Temple, both of which were interesting and well organized.
Afterward, our guide told us that we couldn't go to the boat yet, so we were taken to a perfume shop. This was honestly one of the parts of the trip we didn't enjoy. It felt more like a sales stop than part of the tour, and we ended up purchasing something we probably wouldn't have bought otherwise. In my opinion, these types of shopping stops should be optional, rather than something travelers are brought to without being given a choice.
The Nile cruise itself was wonderful. We stayed on a 5-star Nile cruise ship, and the ship was beautiful and comfortable.
Day 2 – Abu Simbel
We woke up around 3:00 AM and were picked up at approximately 3:50 AM for the drive to Abu Simbel. Around 4:20 AM, we arrived at a police checkpoint and waited until approximately 5:00 AM for the road to open. We weren't really sure why we needed to arrive so early at the checkpoint, especially since we spent about 40 minutes sitting in the vehicle without air conditioning.
The drive was about 3.5 hours each way, but is Abu Simbel worth it? Absolutely — 100%! It was one of the highlights of our trip and something I would definitely recommend.
Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the guiding experience as much. Our guide seemed to be very busy with another group and was rushing between groups, while also dealing with other matters during our visit.
The good thing is that we returned to the cruise in time for lunch and had the afternoon to relax.
Day 3 – Karnak Temple
We left around 7:00 AM to visit Karnak Temple. The tour was well organized, and we returned to the ship afterward.
Day 4 – Luxor
Luxor was a very busy but incredible day, with several major sites to visit.
We visited the Valley of the Kings, where we were told that three tombs were included with the entrance ticket. However, the tombs open to visitors rotate in order to help preserve them, so some of the more famous tombs require an additional fee. We chose to visit Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses IV, which meant paying extra for each.
There are also some small additional expenses to keep in mind. For example, the golf cart at the Valley of the Kings costs 25 Egyptian pounds and is cash only. The golf cart at Hatshepsut Temple was also 25 Egyptian (per person) pounds cash only. These aren't major costs, but it's good to know ahead of time so you have cash available.
Hatshepsut Temple was absolutely breathtaking and was one of my favorite stops.
We then visited Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. There is quite a bit of walking, but being able to see these incredible historical sites in person makes it completely worthwhile.
Unfortunately, the day ended with another shopping stop, this time at a stone shop. Again, this was frustrating because we weren't interested in buying anything. I would strongly recommend that the company make these shopping stops completely optional. Travelers should be able to choose whether they want to visit shops rather than feeling obligated to go.
Overall
Despite a few issues, we had a great overall experience. The company did an excellent job organizing the transportation, tours, timing, and cruise. The guides and drivers were generally professional, punctual, and reliable, and we always felt that the logistics of the trip were well taken care of.
Our biggest recommendation would be to eliminate or make the perfume and stone shop stops optional. These stops took away from an otherwise excellent experience and can leave travelers feeling pressured to purchase something.
Also, make sure you clarify the payment method in advance, as our agreed-upon Visa payment was changed to cash at the last minute.
Overall, we would recommend this tour company and the Nile cruise experience. The organization and reliability were excellent, Abu Simbel was absolutely worth the long journey, the temples were incredible, and cruising the Nile was an unforgettable experience. With a few improvements to the shopping stops and guiding experience, this could easily be a 5-star experience.

Nile cruise must book - Sonesta Sun Goddess
I cannot recommend booking through this company enough. I ended up on the Sonesta Sun Goddess and I picked the deluxe option. I was offered an upgrade for 100USD upon arrival and took it. The room was outstanding, with a large bed, good bathroom, living space, TV and balcony.
There were not many people on the boat which was great and it felt quite private all the time. The hospitality was phenomenal and every staff member would go above and beyond.
The food was delicious, fresh and exciting. There was an ok selection of alcoholic beverages however this is expected in a Muslim country.
My Tour guide was Ahmed (Mr Joseph). It was a small tour of 2 couples. He was such an amazing tour guide and I cannot recommend him enough. He had such a deep and comprehensive knowledge of the history of ancient Egypt but also the country itself. I never felt rushed nor did anything feel like a drag. If you’re booking, you HAVE to request Mr Joseph (Ahmed).
One of the nights myself and him went to a local cafe to watch Australia vs Egypt play. He did not have to do this but it shows the character he is and the efforts to make his guests feel comfortable in his country.
Australian - 28 (Male) + 26 (female)

My tour with Imperial Egypt was beyond expectation. The room was clean and neat, and food was just fantastic. The sites we visited were all awesome - magnificant temples and beautiful scenes. Our tour guid, Mr. Hady, is very friendly and knowledgeable. I would bring my family next time to this tour.

Amazing experience....
Amazing experience. Driver was great and communicated very well. I would highly recommend this tour. We actually started at 9 AM because we wanted to eat breakfast and it was enough time. When we got there, it was after all the tour buses left so there was only a few people there. This was in May 2026

This was well worth the...
This was well worth the money paid for the boat experience and the multiple different temples travelled to. Note that you will be up from 3:00-4:00am every single day and group dependant, home again as late at 7:30pm. These are very long and tiring days but you get a lot done. For the air balloon, we did not initially book it and looked into doing so on Viator and it was going to cost an additional $350 NZD each which was out of budget however, in person, we were able to book the experience for $137NZD so if you want save some money do that. Food was fantastic on board, lots of different options. Tour guide Khaled was funny and definitely knowledge but with the long days it was sometimes hard to follow along. Great sights and there is a student discount so bring your ID

The crew were super friendly and helpful and the food choices were great. I would 100% recommend this experience for anyone who wants to see a little bit of everything.

Fantastic tour and tour company
We would highly recommend Emo Tours Egypt - everything about the tour was beyond expectations. Abu Simbel itself was of course fantastic and well worth the long drive, and there are many companies offering tours, so my review is about Emo Tours. Communication from the company was excellent, instant response to questions on WhatsApp. We organised the pick up point (a cruise boat in our case) directly with the company via WhatsApp. The pick up was on time, the car was almost new and very comfortable, and our driver Mohammed was a very good, safe driver. With the comfortable car and very good straight roads we got to Abu Simbel in 3.5 hours including a 15 minute coffee stop (even quicker on the way back). Our guide was very friendly and very knowledgeable and he gave us a lot of very useful and interesting information in perfect English before we entered the temples. Both guide and driver were friendly and courteous. Overall an excellent company and tour, hence highly recommended

Highly recommend
We truly enjoyed the cruise and our tour of Luxor with Nervien. The organization and coordination were very smooth—there was never a moment when we felt lost or confused. We felt very well taken care of, and Enjy was very communicative and helpful throughout.
The cruise was definitely worth the money and exceeded our expectations, with a lovely boat and great food. The crew was delightful—very polite and helpful.
Nervien made our Luxor experience unforgettable, sharing a wealth of interesting background and history. The tour guides in Abu Simbel, Kom Ombo, and Edfu were also excellent.
Highly recommend!

A Memorable Nile Cruise with Ellie and Nice Tours
We booked this experience as part of the Nice Tours 2-Night Nile Cruise from Aswan to Luxor, available through GetYourGuide, Viator, and other booking platforms. The rate was very competitive; however, it is important to note that you do not find out your specific cruise line until about a day before departure, which may not work for everyone. You select your cabin category and are then assigned accommodations accordingly (standard, deluxe, or luxury). For this reason, I would recommend choosing the deluxe or luxury option—it was well worth it. We were upgraded to the luxury category and were very pleased with the experience.
As for the cruise itself, our boat, the Ellie, was modern, beautiful, and exceptionally clean. The food was varied and thoughtfully prepared, and the daily schedule—including meals and evening activities—was well organized. Wake-up calls were provided reliably, which helped each day run smoothly. The top deck was especially beautiful and felt more luxurious compared to other boats we saw, many of which appeared more dated. Throughout the trip, the staff was consistently attentive and professional. We especially appreciated the housekeeping team, the bartender, and our dinner waiter for their warmth and attentiveness. The fact that the boat is often used by larger travel groups also seemed to reflect its overall quality.
While consistency would be ideal, some variability is understandable and can happen anywhere.
In terms of coordination, Nice Tours provides the guides, some of whom were stronger than others. While consistency would be ideal, some variability is understandable and can happen anywhere. There were a few minor bumps along the way, and despite everyone’s best efforts, not everything went as smoothly as expected. For example, due to a late start one day, on our last day, we were not able to see the sunset during our hot air balloon ride, visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, or take the felucca ride. That said, Nice Tours remained accessible and responsive, answering all communications via WhatsApp and email. Their coordination style is different from what travelers in the U.S. are accustomed to—often more last-minute and with limited advance information—but ultimately everything came together. The company and most of its guides made a genuine effort to ensure we were satisfied and had a positive experience.
With that said, there is one area that would benefit from greater clarity for guests. On the last day, we were presented with an envelope for tips. While we understood the purpose, we had not been informed of this process in advance and had already generously tipped the staff we interacted with most. We still left an additional tip in the envelope; however, it was opened in front of us and the front desk staff appeared dissatisfied, even though the amount was comparable to American standards and took into account the tips we had already provided. Additionally, one couple was stopped on their way out and asked to add more money to their envelope. This approach felt uncomfortable, did not align with what we consider standard practice in the U.S., and did not land well with us.
To improve the guest experience, I would strongly suggest that tipping expectations be clearly communicated prior to arrival or at check-in so that all guests are on the same page and misunderstandings can be avoided. Alternatively, gratuities could be included in the overall cost upfront, similar to the approach used by some American cruise lines.
Overall, this was a comfortable, memorable, and worthwhile experience with Ellie and Nice Tours, and with a few adjustments to communication and transparency, it could be even stronger for future travelers.

Best way to see Egypt!
Our ship “Amwaj Livingstone” was one of the best cruise ships on the Nile, full window view from the room. Great service and plenty of delicious meals.
Well covered Excursions, generally starting very early in the morning, but absolutely worth it. A good guide makes a lot of difference!
The extra trip to Abu Simbel started at 04:00 am and included total of 7 hours car ride. The temple was amazing, but the trip can be tiring.
The agent “Egypt Unlimited” was very professionally organized and very helpful. We’d recommend them to anyone coming to Egypt.

Essential Egyptian Tourism Experience
As described, trip included a nice boat (ours was the Royal Signature Olivia), all tickets to temples and Abu Simbel included, and a tour guide (ours was Magdy from Egypt Knight Tours, who we had a great experience with). You run the course of the sites alongside numerous other boats at the same time, actually going through some of them when you are docked to get off the water and to the sites. Expect early mornings to hit temples early as the boats all have a system for completing the route on a certain amount of time. Food was buffet style and okay quality; however, service was very good and workers were nice. For Valley of the Kings, ask your guide about tombs that cost additional amounts like Seti I (incredible) and King Tut (historically important for archaeology but very small). They will let you know what they recommend.
