Great Tour!

Josué was our guide. He shared his wealth of knowledge about the history, geography, and culture—even explained the flora and fauna of the areas we were exploring. The transportation was clean, comfortable and air-conditioned. We left early enough to beat the crowds, and we finished at a lovely restaurant overlooking Lake Coatepeque. We even had time to swim while waiting for our food. Thank you for such a great experience!

Santa Ana Volcano Early Hike and Coatepeque Lake

Our tour guide Osmaro picked us up from our hotel to start our tour on time. The tour guide was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and we learned a lot of history. The view of the Santa Ana Volcano Early Hike and Coatepeque Lake were breathtaking, it was worth it. Highly recommend it.

Private Tour is the Way to Go

We were very pleased with this tour. Our guide, Gaby, from El Salvador Positive Tours contacted us the night before the trip to ensure that we were prepared. She was as she arrived at our hotel on time. She provided great commentary throughout the day and was helpful throughout the climb up and down the mountain. As for the climb itself we were able to go at four own pace since this was a private tour- very important. Gaby selected a nice lunch place for us that was very good. Overall we enjoyed the tour and were quite pleased with our guide.

Would highly recommend...

Would highly recommend this tour. Osmaro was our guide and was so informative. Pick up was punctual and stops were made when asked. The hike itself was not too hard if you are physically fit but could be more difficult for those who are not used to hiking. There is an initial steep incline with terrain changing from forestry to unshaded rocky areas. The views throughout are amazing. Once reaching the crater, it is absolutely worth the hike. The lake is also absolutely beautiful with an opportunity to swim in it.

Must-do in El Salvador

If you are able bodied and want to have an unforgettable experience in this small Central American country, this is the tour you need to do. The climb up the volcano is half the fun. And the views from above are awesome. Francis our guide took us up and down the volcano and provided us with the information about the tour itself as well as s bit of history and current progress of the country. Josue the driver also made the long drive to the sites and back to the hotel so smooth and safe.

Know before you go

Santa Ana Volcano is a must-see attraction for adventure travelers and outdoor enthusiasts in El Salvador.
Come prepared with comfortable hiking shoes, water, snacks, cash for entry and hiking fees, and a light jacket or sweater as it can be a little chilly at the top.
The hike to the top of Santa Ana volcano is relatively strenuous and involves rough terrain. It is not suitable for wheelchair users, strollers, or young children.
Dining options are limited at Cerro Verde national park. While there is a snack kiosk and a small restaurant near the bus stop, it’s worth coming prepared with water and snacks.
