What are people saying about Crete

Great trip
First, our guide, Mike was amazing. He told us so much about the areas we visited and was a great guide. The trip itself was enlightening. We got a taste of Crete and the mountains. And a terrific lunch, not included in the price but well worth what we paid.
. We got a real taste.

This was a great short...
This was a great short afternoon tour! We got a view of the dragonfruit and olive tree farm, and heard about how the family takes care of all of the plants. The snacks we had were all delicious as well. It was a beautiful view and we had a great time. I highly recommend taking a taxi over public transport! The mountains are all around so the bus does not get very close to the farm itself.

Great day informative and fun
A varied and interesting day with a great guide in Vagelis. He was constantly taking us to different places with an interesting commentary throughout. We saw lots of lovely quaint villages and learned a lot about their way of life. Brief cookery lesson and pleasant lunch at a small restaurant in the hills. Interesting visit to Olive Oil factory and small family run ceramics. Met some lovely people and had a really enjoyable day

It was nice to be picked...
It was nice to be picked up by a guide and a small tour bus. We didn’t have to worry about driving the narrow windy roads through the mountains.. The stop was perfect for a bathroom and refreshment break on the way to the beach and the lunch break after the beach was perfect. The beach was so beautiful with soft sand and nice warm and shallow water. Too bad we didn’t see much pink sand. We arrived about 10 min before crowds of people came so we were able to rent two sun beds and umbrella. It would’ve been too hot if they weren’t available.
Really enjoyed the beach. Thought it was much nicer than Balos beach

Perfect Way to Explore Crete
This was by far, one of the best activities and tours we have done and a great way to see the more mountainous side of Greece. It’s a family business and you can tell the people that work there all have a great time. Mike was our guide, and he made the whole day so fun, high energy, and informative along the way. I am so glad we did this tour and will recommend this tour / company to anyone who comes to visit Crete! Thank you, Mike, for making our day so memorable!

Off road and loving it
What an adventure! The ATV tour in Chania was such a blast—bumpy trails, gorgeous mountain views, and plenty of dust and laughs along the way. Our guide kept it fun and safe, while sharing local stories. Riding through the countryside with the sea in the distance was unforgettable. If you’re looking for something active, exciting, and a little different from the usual sightseeing, this is a must-do!

Samaria Gorge! So, you...
Samaria Gorge! So, you think you want to hike it. Excellent idea! It is quite, quite beautiful. But should you hike it and how should you hike it?
Well, you clearly have an adventurous spirit so, assuming you have the oomph to back up your spirit, the only question left is should you arrange it yourself or go with a guide?
We pondered this and decided on going with Sara from Platanos Tours / Elafonissos Travel and what an absolutely fabulous decision it was. Firstly, Sara hikes the gorge three or four times a week, so she most assuredly knows it and loves it…!! And she will share all of that with you on the bus to the gorge and whenever she comes across you as you hike down. Secondly, no, you don’t hike in a group. Everyone hikes separately at their own pace with Sara following later to offer her insights into the gorge if she comes across you and to help anyone who needs it. Thirdly, having an early morning pickup arranged beforehand, having Sara make sure there are tickets for the boat so you can spend your post-hike time in the sea not trying to get onto it in a boat, and having a bus back waiting for you after you get off the ferry? Precious!
Hiking Samaria is a wonderful experience, but why not make it even better by going with the delightful Sara?!

Well organised tour
Well-organized tour with interesting stories from the guide and an amazing beach. You get about 4 hours at the beach, but keep in mind that it takes around 20 minutes to walk from the bus stop to the shore, so in total you spend about 3h30m on the beach. Afterwards, we had about 1 hour in the village and enjoyed dinner. I would have preferred a better bus, as some seats in the back were broken. However, overall I definitely recommend this tour — the guide made the trip amazing with his jokes and funny facts. Special thanks to the driver, who drove carefully along the serpentine road, so we didn’t feel sick during the ride.

Great day out with George
We was collected outside our apartments on time by George. After three people didn’t show at the next hotel it was just my wife and I and our soon to be Turkish friend and George our guide. We set of to the olive factory which we enjoyed, especially the tasting, The next stop was the village which was quite quant, this was a about an half hour stop and we saw a church and had a wander. Following this we went to the pine forest and zig zagged over the mountain stopping off at various times to see views etc. Then came a superb lunch in a beautiful setting. Loads of food all hand cooked along with wine and raki 👌. Off we then went to the gorge. This was really stunning and whilst its a free thing you can do I would not want to attempt it without our guide. I recommend you wear trainers on this trip as there are some tricky climbs over massive boulders, and through a hole and along sides of slopes. It’s made easier as ropes and foot holds have been formed and fitted. Take your time and listen to your guide and all is doable. We loved it. After this we went to coast and you can swim,, or wander around but the four of us decided to have a beer and a chat. We all got on brilliantly, our new Turkish friend (the excellent climber) and George our guide was who excellent and a gentleman. He made the day fun, interesting, Thank you very much 👍

Fantastic day sailing to Dia Island
We had a fantastic time today sailing with Yannis and Alex. It turned out that we were the only family to book the tour this morning so we had a private sailing to Dia Island!
They took great care of us from start to finish. They had soft drinks, lemonade, iced tea, annd water available as soon as we took off. They had a Bluetooth speaker for my daughter to play music for us. It was a windy day today and it was clear they are very good sailors. Alex gave us some background on Heraklion and Dia Island and we talked all through the trip to Dia. Once we arrived they got the boat situated and brought out snorkeling gear, pool noodles, and a paddleboard. My daughter wanted to use the paddle board and they made sure she had experience and that she knew the wind would be pushing her toward the shore and that paddling back would be challenging. They also warned her about sea urchins on the floor in the shallows.
Alex made us a delicious lunch of Greek salad, bread, pasta with or without shrimp, and a variety of fresh melon for dessert. Wine was offered but we don’t drink so had more soft drinks.
We spent a few lovely hours at Dia before heading back to the marina, arriving right on time.
I would definitely recommend this excursion. We loved it! It was very convenient for the time our cruise ship was in port tires.

Perfect Adventure that Satisfies
I loved that this tour picked me up and dropped me off at my hotel. Ingrid was an incredibly informative guide who was funny and supportive. I have no clue how Nikos, the bus driver, navigated the narrow streets, but he got us there and back in safely and comfort. The hike is fairly straightforward and down the whole way, so not challenging on the heart. It’s very rocky the whole way though, so footing can be tricky, but totally doable by almost everyone. Hiking poles were helpful, but not necessary. If you’re an experienced hiker, you can take your time down to actually enjoy nature and the environment. I feel like many people came and hiked down just as quick as possible without actually taking in the surrounding. I like the itinerary gave you enough time in the mountains and sea without consuming your entire day.

Horseriding with view!
Beautiful experience right the mountains! It is a tiny family business and it feels good! Thie horses are sweet and friendly. The ballade was from the mountain down to the beach.
The view was astonishing! And you discover less touristic areas which was charming.
Only my mum, myself and Niko the horse owner.
Niko was simply perfect! Very professional and friendly. He loves his horses. They are well cared of.
We recommend this experience 100%!
