My favorite tour in Greece so far.
I've traveled throughout Greece multiple times and this is BY FAR my favorite ever activity! If you loce mountains, alpine landscapes, places like Austria and Slovenia... then you will love Pozar. I recommend bringing your own towel, or have some cash on you, since towel rentals are cash only. Otherwise, definitely book this! I can't remember the guides name (archaeologist) but he was so friendly and helpful.

Great Overview of Thessaloniki
Our tour guide Vasilia was so wonderful. She was very knowledgable. The tour took us to the oldest monastery and oldest Church (St Dimitris). And we saw views of the city along the old wall. We also visited the white tower and the statue of Alexander the Great. We also enjoyed seeing the Roman Forum. Then our tour guide took us on a walking tour through a market. We truly loved feeling like a local.

Worth the Long Day for Meteora
A long day, but absolutely worth it to experience the incredible monasteries of Meteora. We visited two monasteries and stopped at a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the others — a highlight of the day.
There was one restroom break on the way to Meteora and another on the return, and the monasteries themselves also have facilities, which made the journey comfortable. The time allocated at each monastery felt adequate, and we never felt rushed while exploring.
Our guide was informative and approachable, adding helpful context throughout the day without overwhelming the experience.
Lunch was arranged at a specific restaurant that isn’t near any alternatives, so there are no other dining options. The food was decent, fairly priced, and served quickly — we were able to finish within about an hour.
Overall, it’s a long day, but the sights of Meteora are spectacular and absolutely worth the trip. Highly recommend.

Great Pace, Great Guide, Great Day
Fantastic tour — very well organised, with timings that felt just right for each site and attraction. Our guide was genuinely insightful and shared interesting, useful information throughout the day. Nothing felt rushed, and we had ample time to enjoy each stop.
We chose not to have lunch at the designated restaurant and instead grabbed a quick bite, which allowed us extra time at the Royal Tombs — something we really appreciated. Meeting points and times were always clear, making the whole experience smooth and stress‑free.
A well‑run tour that made the day both enjoyable and memorable, definitely for those interested in history- a must go!

Wonderful Experience
This was a wonderful trip that I would highly recommend. Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable, always open to answering questions or giving recommendations. It was a good mix of bus time with some hiking/walking so you didn't feel like you wasted your day sitting on a bus but you also weren't too worn out from the hiking. Mount Olympus was beautiful and we were able to take a quick swim, though the water is very cold. My friend and I chose to save 10 euros and not enter the Dion Archeological Site (as we travel a lot and have seen plenty of ruins that start to all look the same) but we only had an hour there so it was a good spot to rest and eat the lunch we packed. Overall, good value for money.

An Amazing “Must Not Miss” Tour
Our full day tour to Meteora from Thessaloniki was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Our day started with an on time pick up from the Electra Palace hotel in downtown Thessaloniki. Our driver, Antonis Pouliasis, who speaks excellent English, greeted us warmly and welcomed us into his spacious and comfortable Mercedes van. During our drive to Meteora, he informed of history and geography of the area and pointing out areas of interest along the way. He made stops for photo ops and bathroom and snack breaks along the way. Once we arrived in Meteora, he personally guided us through two of the most significant and beautiful monestaries: St. Stephen’s and the great Meteoron Monestary. He shared insights throughout each tour. After many photo ops, he dove us to a tasty lunch spot in nearby Kalabaka before we headed back to Thessaloniki using a different but scenic route from which we could view Mount Olympus from the other side. We strongly recommend Antonis as a driver and a tour guide. He made our tour comfortable, informative and memorable.

A Most Enjoyable Day!
The driver from Lion Transfers contacted me 30 minutes prior to pickup to let me know when he was 5 minutes out. Konstantinos arrived on time and made sure I was comfortable before we set out for the day. We stopped about half way to Meteora for a water and bathroom break and proceeded on. As I have a significant fear of heights we discussed my limitations along the way and he set a plan in place to reduce my anxiety and eliminate any instances that would paralyze me. As we navigated the road in Meteora, Konstantinos stopped to allow me to take photos of these most magnificent views. We then stopped and visited the largest, highest monastery without issue. We continued to explore the route to all the monasteries and turnoff points for photo ops and then headed into Kalambaka for an excellent lunch at Elias' Garden Taverna. The food was incredible as were the restaurant staff and atmosphere. Afterward, we had a smooth, safe and enjoyable return to Thessaloniki. Overall it was a 5 star day!!!

Greek culture
It was a great tour to get a taste of Greek culture and food. It was about a 15 minute walk from the Cruise ship. Then there was a lot of walking between stops. Please wear comfortable shoes. I would not recommend an extreme heat. The guide was adorable.

Well, worth the time.
Well worth the time. Our Tour guide, Iannis, was excellent. He did a great job guiding us through the tour sites, providing a great deal of information covering the history of the city. He was knowledgeable and very personable. He made an otherwise dreary, somewhat rainy afternoon, very enjoyable and informative. Highly recommend.

Excellent driver and guide
Our family had an exceptional experience with Demetris as our driver and tour guide in Thessaloniki. From start to finish, he provided a seamless, informative, and enjoyable day exploring Pella and Vergina—two remarkable sites connected to Alexander the Great and his father, Philip II.
Demetris picked us up promptly and drove safely and comfortably throughout the entire journey. When I made an error with the pickup address, he handled the situation with patience and professionalism, ensuring everything stayed on schedule. He even brought an extra booster seat for our six-year-old on short notice, which demonstrated his thoughtfulness and commitment to our comfort and safety.
His guidance at the archaeological sites and museums was invaluable. He provided helpful tips on navigating exhibits efficiently and pointed out fascinating landmarks along the way, enriching our understanding of Greek history and culture. As a Thessaloniki native whose family has lived there for generations, he shared insightful stories and historical context that added depth to the experience.
Demetris also proved to be a wealth of knowledge about local cuisine, drawing on his background as a former restaurateur. He offered excellent recommendations and ensured we enjoyed a delightful snack break by reserving a table and helping us avoid long lines.
What stood out most was his kindness toward our daughter. He made her feel included throughout the day, engaging her with warmth and patience that made the experience memorable for our entire family.
Demetris consistently looked out for our best interests and went above and beyond to ensure we had an enriching and stress-free tour. We highly recommend him to anyone visiting Thessaloniki and looking for a knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely caring guide.

Efi's Great Tour
Ms. Efi was fantastic. She commanded the historical knowledge, and was extremely insightful, not only from Thessaloniki (urban history and culture within the city), but also across the drive from Thess to Kavala, Lydia, and Philippi. Highly recommend this tour. Although Philippi is not as sprawling (excavated as much) as Ephesus, I would imagine it is only 10% uncovered. St. Paul's prison is reachable and well marked, preserved, and maintained. We had lunch there, at a small eatery on the adjacent driveway to the UNESCO Philippi site. A wonderful breeze, lush grassy (shaded) restful location, after slow stroll thru the compound for about an hour (take water on your walk !!). Ensure you visit "Lydia" only 4 mins from Philippi - Lydia is the first person (a woman) baptized in the Western Hemisphere by St. Paul. A beautify Cathedral (St. Lydia), and a beautiful stream in the rear, where she was baptized - a great fascinating place to see. Kavala is a cool town, with a beautiful waterfront - an important strategic and historical port city in many historical contexts... Thank you Ms. Efi for a fantastic journey to the Eastern Edge of Macedonia, walking in St. Paul's footsteps. Highly recommend!! Thank you Ms. Efi. We will be back!

Get closer to the gods on Thessaloniki tours. You can climb Mt. Olympus, where ancient Greeks said Zeus and Hera ruled the human world, or explore Meteora, a complex of Eastern Orthodox monasteries that sit precariously on the top of stone monoliths. Whichever you choose, the city will be waiting for you when you get back. Perhaps a pub crawl or wine tasting will take the edge off the encounter with the spiritual—if not, some thermal baths will do the trick instead.
