What are people saying about Porto

Fantastic and delicious experience in Porto!
I had an absolute blast doing the workshop, the teachers were so friendly and made the class so much fun. I went by myself and made some friends in the class. The best thing is I now know how to make delicious pastel de nata at home, so I can share these pastries with my friends at home. I would highly recommend this class to everyone!

An absolute must-do!
My partner and I did this tour as we traveled through Portugal for the first time. We like to seek out experiences that give us a genuine picture of life where we're traveling and this was exactly that.
Marco grew up in Portugal and graciously showed us around Gaia. We learned so much and had such wonderful conversations with him throughout the day. The food he made was absolutely delicious, as well! This was our favorite day of our 2-week trip, plus we felt like we made a real friend.
I cannot recommend Marco's tour enough! If you like non-touristy, authentic experiences, it's a must-do.

Amazing experience
Clara gave us a spectacular lesson. We were lucky enough to be the only attendees that morning, she took the time to properly explains and allowed us to be really hands on. I feel I can really cook the nata now, which is amazing. Thank you Clara, and good luck for your future!

Traditional Portuguese food with great wines
My two sisters and myself had so much fun with chef Tania and her sommelier husband Tomas. Chef Tania showed us how to make some traditional Portuguese dishes that were delicious. Tomas served us some very good wines that went well with the dishes we cooked. It was in a small intimate setting so we got some one on one instructions.

Fun way to make a souvenir
Really fun way to make your own unique souvenir. Bea and all the hosts were very kind and helpful and happy to answer questions. They make mocktails for anyone not wanting alcohol and also gave a bunch of great recs for places to eat. Boiler Studio is a very cute store with lots of fun stuff! I got a DIY tile kit to take home, which I am very excited about.

Highlight
This was easily one of the best experiences in all our years of traveling. Our host/chef/instructor Hugo, managed to take a group of six people of different ages and backgrounds and not only show us how to properly prepare a wonderful meal, but to have a great time getting to know him and each other. Can’t say enough about the whole experience, including our trip with Hugo to the market to select and purchase ingredients for the meal. Great to see him interact with the vendors. Thanks for a memorable day!

Great workshop hosted by...
Great workshop hosted by Mike and Rui. We were able to make some great pasteis de natas and at the end of the workshop we were told the history of the pastel de nata followed by getting to eat them. If you're looking for a fun not too serious class this is the one for you!

A Perfect Rainy Day in Porto
What started as a potentially awkward situation—everyone else cancelled due to rain, leaving me as the sole guest—turned into one of the highlights of my trip. Mayinka transformed what could have been a standard food tour into a private, personalized culinary adventure through Porto's hidden gems.
Her knowledge goes far beyond the food itself. She shared fascinating stories about the city's history, culture, and neighborhoods, weaving context into every stop. But what really stood out was how genuinely warm and engaging she was. As a solo traveler, I appreciated that she made the experience feel like exploring with a friend rather than following a guide.
Beyond the tour, Mayinka loaded me up with recommendations, local tips, and off-the-beaten-path suggestions that shaped the rest of my stay. If you're visiting Porto—rain or shine, solo or with a group—book this tour and hope you get Mayinka.

Pastel de Nata workshop in Gaia
Cat was a wonderful teacher. She included all of us at different stages of the bake. She also told some very interesting local facts. A truly fabulous two and a half hours spent making delicious Pastel de Natas from start to finish. Highly recommended!!!

Fun midday activity
The chef led tour was a perfect activity for our midday activity on our first day in Porto. Walking through the market gave us a taste of the local flavor, and we had an entertaining and fun time creating our meal enjoyed with local wine. It was perfect for our small party of three friends.

Excellent experience
We had a wonderful port and cheese pairing experience at Quevedo, the building was wonderful and Miguel, our host, was very knowledgable and friendly. We feel like we learned a lot about port and food science, and thoroughly enjoyed the port. A must do if staying in Porto or Vila Nova de Gaia and would definitely recommend to a friend.
