Fabulous river experience!

Unforgettable experience

First time in Costa Rica and love trying new adventures. David and Eric were excellent guides who were informative, supportive, embodied a Pura Vida mentality, and also prioritized safety. We had such an amazingly fun time and enjoyed seeing many birds and animals between going through the rapids. Unforgettable experience!

Amazing rafting trip

Oh, my goodness, what an amazing day! We did the Class III-IV trip, and it was fabulous. Steven trained us very well on how to follow his paddling instructions, and once he was confident that we'd absorbed the lessons, he gave us so much positive reinforcement, calling us "Familia" (which was so sweet) and praising our teamwork. The rapids were really exciting, and it was fun to get drenched! (Glad I switched out my glasses for contacts, though.) We felt 100% safe, and in the milder stretches, Steven pointed out birds and other sights. David, the owner, went ahead of us and took photos and videos, which were so much fun to have. He's the second generation for the business, and he talked about how they've been taking more and more care of the environment. After the river run, we had a delicious Costa Rican lunch, complete with cacao nibs, and we juiced sugar cane for dessert! Everyone was so sweet, and they made us feel really at home. And Mauricio did a great job driving us up the mountain to the put-in spot! Oh, and we loved the place where we stayed the night before, Chilamate Rainforest Eco Retreat. It's only 15 minutes away, which made for a very relaxed morning. The day before, we had a tour at Costa Rica Best Chocolate, which was also wonderful--and turns out to be run by a childhood friend of David's! All in all, the rafting trip was one of the best things we did in Costa Rica. Highly recommend!
