Javier was great! We disembarked from our cruise ship as soon as we could and they met us just outside of the cruise port with a large sign. Our family of 4 were the only passengers that day (the van could not hold many more than that). As we drove they told us about the area and played some Dominican music for us in the car. We were one of the first groups to the waterfalls. My teenagers had a great time, as did my husband and I. You need to have some basic level of physical fitness for the long hike to the top, but they take plenty of breaks to make it manageable. After the waterfalls they took us to a nearby restaurant for a buffet lunch and then for a quick stop at a gift shop. On the way back to cruise port they even stopped to buy us a bag of fresh mangoes from a roadside stand. Overall, the experience took 4 hours. Be advised that we had a photographer that traveled with us the whole time and they will try to get you to buy the photos that they took of your group. Be prepared to bargain with them if you want to buy the pictures, or to tell them no when they ask (they talked to us after lunch). I don’t know that you can choose to not have them with you for the day. We had an amazing day, and it was a great experience for the price we paid. Much less expensive than the cruise line excursion!

Couldn’t asked for a better guide than Louis Jose. He took us around to all the sights and more. The cable car was closed so he took us to buy tickets for the bus that takes you up the mountain and even took my elderly parents back to the cruise ship who didn’t want to wait that long. He found us a local restaurant to pass the time and got us back to our ship before they left port. Fantastic!

I truly enjoyed the tour. The private experience allowed us to tailor the tour to what we wanted to do and experience along with being on our own time. The tour guide Lucilo was awesome. Very knowledgeable and had so much pride in his country. He also had great communication leading up to when we met. My husband and I had such a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this tour to everyone.
