All Mombasa Tours & Excursions in 2026

We took a private tour of Mombasa with Humphrey and were very satisfied. The organization was uncomplicated and reliable. We were picked up directly at our hotel in Diani, had a private, air-conditioned car, and Humphrey guided us personally through Mombasa. We particularly liked Fort Jesus, the Old Town, and the spice market. Humphrey explained a lot of background information about the history of Mombasa and local life to us and took plenty of time for our questions. The tour felt personal and individual, not like a standardized tourist program. The mix of historical places, market, temple, and waterfront was also very well done. At the beginning of August, we spent two unforgettable days between Taita Hills and Tsavo East. The beauty of the landscapes we crossed and the sightings we were lucky enough to have is difficult to describe in words. Instead, the skill, kindness, and professionalism of our guides, Francis and Said, deserve to be highlighted and praised. Francis, a true guide and point of reference for our trip, was simply impeccable, as well as a person of great kindness and authenticity. Always ready to share knowledge and curiosities, he knew how to tell us about the world of animals and the life of the savanna with clarity and passion. With his smile, his helpfulness, and his constant desire to make every moment special, he will remain in our hearts forever. Said, an extremely experienced driver, gave us movie-like moments. The emotion felt at Taita Hills, when we were lucky enough to follow a splendid lioness in her natural environment, is indelible. The stops he allowed us in Tsavo East were also beautiful, allowing us to observe the hippos up close and enjoy every moment without rushing. Francis, Said: thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Tsavo is huge! This tour lets you see Tsavo East, which is probably more than enough for most people unless you want to do a multi day Safari. I saw tons of elephants as well as lions, zebras, gazelles, hippos, ostriches… you name it… I saw it (aside from rhinos, we didn’t see any rhinos). Keep in mind pick up will be very early in the morning - like 5 AM early in the morning. There is a lunch buffet available in the park. It’s reasonably priced and pretty good - plus you get to eat near a lot of elephants… so if you’d like elephants all the better. My tour guide was excellent, he really knew his way around the park. You will run into other vehicles at specific locations when certain animals are visible. This is a good thing because the drivers communicate with one another to ensure that all tourist see what they’re looking for. Again, this is a long day so be prepared. It’s definitely worth the trip and I recommend you do so if you have the opportunity.
