Visit two lakes in one trek on the Cordillera route in Huascaran National Park. You’ll visit both Llanganuco and 69 Lake on this approximately six hour hike. About Nevado Quitaraju: Quitaraju is situated south-eastwards of Alpamayo. Obviously Quitaraju does not get half as much attention as Alpamayo does, there are even more parties climbing the Alpamayo, but less parties climbing has the Nevado Quitaraju. It is a really nice mountain with great views of it’s south face, the Alpamayo, Artesonrajo, Huascaran(s), Chopicalqui. The easiest route is W ridge, graded AD, but very very long, sustained and steep in places. North face is really nice, being graded D, 700m, inclination of about 55° degrees. Different variants have different grades, so a tougher climber could find some 60-70 degree climbing going some 50m left or right from the arete in upper part of the face. It can usually be climbed in 8-12 hours round-trip. According to the International French Adjectival System (IFAS), it’s categorized as TD+: very difficult +, on the route of the South Ridge, and D: Difficult, via the “normal” route. And, on this trip, you will get to climb right to the summit of this trip. Our trip will begin in the lovely mountain town of Huaraz. From there, we will travel to the beautiful Quebrada Llaca (4,200m). Afterwards, we will go to the Vallunaraju Base Camp, where we will spend the night. On the following day, we will climb to the summit of the peak. From the summit, you can enjoy some magnificent views of other nearby peaks. After you’ve soaked in the great views, we will then return to base camp and then the Quebrada Llaca and then Huaraz.
