With vibrant coral reefs, crystalline waters, and some of the largest southern rays in the Caribbean, it’s no wonder that Stingray City is one of the most visited attractions in the Cayman Islands. Perched on the coastal cliffs outside Negril, Rick’s Café is one of Jamaica’s most enduring establishments. The bar and restaurant put the island’s West End on the map when it opened in 1974 and has since survived two devastating hurricanes, rebuilding to serve tropical cocktails and Caribbean specialties to visitors from around the world. With famed sunset views and prime cliff-jumping spots, Rick’s is one of the top destinations in Jamaica.

Andicuri Beach stretches for 230 feet (70 meters) along Aruba’s east coast, and is known for its turquoise blue waters and limestone cliffs that offer visitors a bit of shade. The beach attracts travelers in search of a tropical experience, but strong currents and serious waves make Andicuri less than ideal for swimming and snorkeling.

The Queen’s Staircase, one of Nassau’s most-visited tourist attractions, holds an important and dark place in the Bahamas’ cultural history. Around 1793, enslaved people carved this 102-foot (31-meter) staircase out of solid limestone. Later, it was named in honor of Queen Victoria’s long reign and her role in abolishing slavery in the Bahamas. Today, it’s part of the Fort Fincastle Historic Complex.

High atop a hillside overlooking the harbor of Nassau is British-colonial era Fort Charlotte—the largest fort in Nassau. Built in the late 18th century for a battle that never took place, this historic site offers picturesque views of Paradise Island, Nassau, and the harbor. You can also see hidden underground passages, a dry moat, remote dungeons; and even canons, which have never been fired in battle.

The Ayo and Casibari rock formations are popular stops on many Aruba tours, despite the fact that they are basically piles of rocks woven with cacti. These natural structures offer a unique view of the volcanic forces on Aruba. Some intrepid travelers clamber on top of them to score panoramic views of the island.

The 16th-century Castillo San Felipe del Morro stands just north of Old San Juan, within the San Juan National Historic Site. Known locally as El Morro, the fortress on the northwestern tip of the islet of San Juan kept watch over the Atlantic and protected the city and the Bay of San Juan from incoming enemies for centuries. Today, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Buried in the central uplands of Barbados, the underground complex of Harrison’s Cave is one of the island’s star attractions. Visitors board an electric tram that trundles around the 1.5-mile (2.3-kilometer) system of chambers, passing magical-looking galleries of stalactites and stalagmites, streams, waterfalls, and pools—all formed during centuries of erosion. An outdoor eco-adventure park features a nature trail, ziplines, and rope challenges for anyone seeking a further dose of thrills.

Named for the once abundant wild starfish that resided in the area, Starfish Point features a small and secluded beach with a large area of clear, shallow water where starfish can still be easily seen. Located on the north side of Cayman Island, it’s a popular destination for boat tours.

Named the “Best Beach in the World” multiple times (and by multiple entities), Grace Bay Beach is so beautiful that it really needs to be seen to be believed. This is the main beach on the island of Providenciales, in Turks and Caicos, and is lined with upscale resorts.

The Bacardi Rum Factory (Casa Bacardi) is entwined with the history of the Caribbean itself, and the factory’s visitor center traces the company’s early roots as a small distillery in Cuba through American Prohibition, the Cuban Revolution, and beyond. Today, Bacardi is a well-known brand with a global presence, and its factory in Puerto Rico is the largest premium rum distillery in the world.

One of St. Lucia’s most popular natural attractions, Toraille Waterfall drops about 50 feet (15 meters) from a cliff before falling into a pool that’s perfect for a refreshing swim. The falls, near the town of Soufriere, sit at the end of a nature trail and amid a tranquil tropical garden.

The majority of St. John is covered by the Virgin Islands National Park, a stretch of preserved wilderness that offers protection and preservation for fish, corals, marine life, and tropical and migrating birds. The park also protects the island’s reef, with public access at the mangrove bay of Hurricane Hole, east of Coral Bay. Snorkeling is a popular activity all along the coastline.

Luquillo Beach, also known as Balneario La Monserrate, is one of Puerto Rico’s safest beaches. One of Santo Domingo’s most unique natural attractions, Los Tres Ojos National Park is an open-air limestone cave that’s home to three oval-shaped lakes: hence its name, The Three Eyes. A visit to Los Tres Ojos feels like stepping into another world, thanks to the impressive network of stalagmites and stalactites surrounding the lakes. History buffs should also keep their eyes peeled for the pottery shards and petroglyphs scattered around the natural site.

Perched along St Lucia’s southwest coast and protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the dramatic twin peaks of Gros Piton and Petit Piton are among the Caribbean island’s most memorable landmarks. Towering 2,619 feet (798 meters) above sea level, the Gros Piton, the larger of the two, is also a popular challenge for avid hikers.

The historic San Juan Gate (Puerta de San Juan) was built in the 1630s and was once the main point of entry into the city for those arriving at the port by sea. Today it’s primarily used as a starting point for walking tours of the city, as it serves as the main entryway into the charming neighborhood of Old San Juan.

Take a walk through a unique piece of history with a tour of the magnificent hilltop Greenwood Great House. A national landmark, the house was built in the late 1700s by Richard Barrett, a cousin of poet Elizabeth Barrett-Browning, whose family was among Jamaica’s original colonial settlers.

Martha Brae River offers a peaceful experience on Jamaica’s north coast, where travelers can enjoy a slow, scenic bamboo raft ride through a tropical rainforest. The river’s calm waters and shaded banks create an alternative to Jamaica’s beach-focused activities. Guided by a skilled raft captain, the river journey highlights local flora, fauna, and folklore, making it a favorite excursion for travelers seeking a guided outdoor adventure.

A half-moon curve of soft sand wraps around this calm, turquoise lagoon, earning Baby Beach its name and reputation for family-friendly fun. The Rose Hall Great House is a grand estate built in the late 18th century in Montego Bay, Jamaica. One of the area’s most popular historic attractions, the Georgian mansion is the centerpiece of a 650-acre (263-hectare) plantation that is most notable for its famous occupant, Annie Palmer—better known as the White Witch of Rose Hall.
