Smithy’s Garden is a private estate and spice garden that’s rich with orchards, vegetables, spice plants, and tropical flower gardens. It is divided into two sections, one representing the old gardens and the other, the new. Though the gardens are maintained, the area still retains a wild, jungle-like atmosphere and a sense of plants thriving in their natural environment.

With uninhabited coastlines, rocky cliffs, and rugged trails, this protected forest is one of the most remote locations in Samaná, attracting both divers for scuba expeditions and adventure-seeking tourists.

While driving the entire length of the 25-mile (40-kilometer) road usually only takes around 90 minutes, it’s worth taking your time to soak in the scenery and make stops along the way.
Located on the southeastern tip of St. Kitts, Great Salt Pond is a tranquil spot to hike paths and birdwatch. Bordered by both the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, the pond has bright white sand beaches within walking distance. Body surfing is popular in the rougher waters of the Atlantic side, while snorkeling and swimming are the names of the games on the calm Caribbean side.
Located in the East End district of St. Thomas, Vessup Bay is a beautiful but largely undeveloped stretch of shoreline. Featuring a narrow bay and a long stretch of beach with plenty of sea grape trees, cacti, and century plants, Vessup Bay is ideal for boaters and beach-goers looking for a more tranquil experience.
Built in 1680, St. John’s Figtree Anglican Church is one of the oldest churches in the Carribean. Inside the modest stone structure is one of the island’s most precious artifacts, the marriage certificate of British Navy Admiral Horatio Nelson and Frances Nisbet. Outside on the grounds is a cemetery where some of the weather-worn gravestones date back more than 300 years.
