The Machame route, also known as the Whisky Route is one of the most scenic and recommended routes on Kilimanjaro. This popular route with paths through magnificent forests to gain a ridge leading through the moorland zones to the Shira Plateau. It then traverses beneath the glaciated precipices of the Southern Ice fields to join the Barafu Route to the summit. Because it can be done over longer periods and the incline is more manageable it has a much higher success rate of summit.

Arusha National Park was Ngurdoto Crater Highland National Park until 1967. The current national park covers an area of 137 sq km/53 sq mi, and is located near the town of Arusha between Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. The park and town derive their name from the Wa-Arusha people who traditionally live in this area. On this one-day excursion leaving from Arusha, Moshi or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) you will get to know the Ngurdoto Crater, Momella Lakes, highland montane forest, and the rugged Mount Meru (4,565 m/14,977 ft). The Route is known as the "Coca-Cola Route" due to its relatively comfortable hut accommodations. Marangu Route is considered one of the easier routes because it has a gentler gradient, making it more accessible for those who are less experienced with high-altitude trekking. It’s often recommended for beginners. The route typically takes 5 to 6 days to complete, which is shorter than many other routes that might take 7 to 9 days. This shorter duration can be appealing to those with limited time

The Umbwe Route is one of the most direct and steepest paths to the summit. It ascends rapidly, which can make the trek more physically demanding. It is characterized by rugged terrain and dense rainforest, which can make for a more arduous trek compared to other routes. Despite its challenges, the route offers stunning views and diverse landscapes, including lush forests, moorlands, and alpine deserts. The Umbwe Route is less frequented than more popular routes like Marangu or Machame, providing a more solitary and less crowded trekking experience. Acclimatization: Due to its steep ascent, the Umbwe Route has a higher risk of altitude sickness, as it does not allow for gradual acclimatization. Trekkers often need to be more prepared for the effects of high altitude. Typically, the Umbwe Route is completed in 6 to 7 days to allow for proper acclimatization and to manage the challenging ascent, although shorter itineraries are possible.

Rongai Route is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, starting near the Kenyan border. This northern approach offers a unique perspective on the mountain and is less frequented compared to southern routes. The route has a more gradual ascent compared to some of the steeper routes like Umbwe. This gentler gradient can make the trek more manageable for those who are less experienced. Due to its less popular starting point, the Rongai Route is generally less crowded than routes like Marangu or Machame. This can result in a more peaceful and serene trekking experience. The Rongai Route typically takes 6 to 7 days to complete, allowing for better acclimatization compared to shorter routes. This helps in reducing the risk of altitude sickness. The Rongai Route typically ascends to the summit via the Kibo Crater, and then descends via the Marangu Route, providing trekkers with a different summit experience compared to routes .

This is a very special tour that allows you to concentrate most of your time in the Serengeti, to follow the unique spectacle that is the Great Migration. You will be able to spend at least 4 nights in the park, usually two in the Central Area (with the largest concentration of big cats) and the other two where the Migration is according to the time of the year (South, North or West). We have designed this particular tour so that you finish the safari in the most remote location in the Serengeti, and then fly from there to your next destination (Arusha or Zanzibar for example). However, shall you wish not to fly, we will redesign your tour so you do it by land and save the cost of the flight.
