Deep in the stunning Ballochbuie Forest (part of the Kings’ Balmoral Estate) lies the “Honka House”. This log cabin was a gift from Finland for the Queens silver wedding anniversary and has been a favourite picnic spot for the Royal's ever since. Near the retreat are the stunning Falls of Garbh Allt, over which Queen Victoria had a beautiful iron bridge installed in 1878 and it is still in use today. The tour will be set at your own pace and there will opportunities to stop and admire the views. Our tour also takes us over the famous 18thC Invercauld Bridge. After the walk the can visit the amazing Fife Arms Hotel for lunch. The hotel is an attraction in itself. After lunch we can visit Balmoral Castle depending on seasonal open times and if time, the stunning Crathes Castle. Please contact us re dates. The walk is available all year, even if the Royal Family are in residence. Please note the walk is an approx 4.5 miles long on well maintained and mostly gentle paths.

Excellent tour of NE Scotland coast

Spent a fantastic day seeing some great small villages and nature sights on our tour. Jamie is a fantastic tour guide and is quite entertaining. Super knowledgeable on the area’s local history and very friendly and is very patient and made the trip so easy. We had rain on the way but it cleared and the day was just outstanding. Would highly recommend this day trip to see the NE coastal corner of places you would most likely miss on your own. Thanks very much Jamie. See you in a return trip. Scott and Ilze

A Highland joy...

A full day that really is worth the value...our tour guide Alan was knowledgeable, entertaining and allowed us time to get the most from a packed agenda. The little stop offs, the whisky store and, of course, the cruise on Loch Ness...which was stunning. Worth every penny

Deeside tour

Jaclyn did a great job showing us the countryside although we experienced sun, wind, and rain! Unfortunately, Balmoral castle was closed because the Royals were in residence. This was noted in the description, but travelers need to realize this is a big issue if you’re hoping to see Balmoral - check the dates!

Dunnatar Castle

Alex was a very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable guide. As the castle was temporarily closed when we passed by, he decided to bring us for lunch instead and we came back afterwards for the castle. Lunch was very good; in a small restaurant near the water. He adapted to the current situation and we were very happy about it. Castle views were amazing! It was a very nice excursion. Thank you

Great traipse across Speyside

Long drives, but very nicely paced with beautiful countryside and sights, and a very engaging guide. Tastings at Whisky Castle, Speyside Cooperage, and Cardhu were very nice. Tours at Cardhu was informative, but for me the highlight was the cooperage. Interesting to see the crew working and understand a key overlooked factor in whisky production. It all starts with an acorn.

Incredible journey

We had a fantastic day, and can't thank Alan enough for his hospitality. He had proactively adjusted the tour to avoid heavy traffic, which meant we still did a good amount of activities. He kindly offered to help take photos, shared facts and legends about the area, and drove well on the road. It was worth getting to know Scotland a bit more intimately and recommend this tour to anyone. We visited Slains Castle (don't miss this!), a Puffin nesting site, several harbours and the Dolphin Sanctuary. He adjusted timings as we went, to ensure we stayed on track and had the appropriate amount of time at each spot.

Outstanding Tour at a Great Price

Our tour guide, Alan, was absolutely outstanding. This tour is perfectly designed for cruise travelers, and we were delighted to experience it at a price that was significantly lower than the cruise line’s excursion. We were picked up directly at the cruise terminal and taken to the beautiful Falls of Feugh before heading to Balmoral. There was plenty of time to tour the ballroom, explore the gardens, and enjoy lunch. Afterward, we visited a charming village near Balmoral. Because we had a little extra time, Alan also took us to Drum Castle, which was an unexpected bonus. Alan’s knowledge of the Royal Family was exceptional, and we learned a tremendous amount throughout the day. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and I can’t recommend this tour highly enough.

I would highly recommend...

I would highly recommend this tour!!! Our tour guide Alan knew all the best spots for pictures at our various stops and kept us entertained along the drive. We got to see castles, quite a bit of the River Dee, and some small waterfalls. There were also plenty of bathroom stops and stops to take in the breathtaking scenery.
