Hassan was very knowledgeable and took us to many areas within Stone Town, really bringing us into the heart of Zanzibar’s culture. He was incredibly kind and helpful throughout the tour. After taking his tour, I can see why Hassan is so highly regarded on TripAdvisor. We had a great tour of Stone Town with Hassan. I appreciated his communication the day before and morning of, and his promptness - we arrived early to the meeting point and he was already there waiting. Hassan has an immense knowledge about Stone Town that he is passionate about sharing. We learned all about Zanzibar’s history. I am also thankful for Hassan’s tips for safety, shopping, and the night market.

Our tour was great overall. The pace was nice, very informative, our guide gave us options to stop at places that interested us or move past throughout the duration of the tour. He also really knew his stuff, impressive knowledge of the island history.

Great Introduction to Stone Town with an Excellent Guide

I did this tour as a solo traveller and ended up having a completely private tour with just myself and the guide, Hassan. He was fantastic — relaxed, flexible, and very knowledgeable about the area. He gave me a great introductory history of Stone Town along with interesting insights into life in Zanzibar. We visited several key sites, including historic buildings, the Freddie Mercury Museum, the Anglican Cathedral, and the spice markets. There was also time for me to explore some touristy shops and experience the local markets. (Just a heads-up: the fish market is very fishy! Hassan warned me, but it was still more intense than I expected! 🤣) A note for other solo travellers: the app says it’s suitable for individuals, which it definitely is, but booking as one person doesn’t guarantee you’ll join a group. In my case, it was just me — which turned out to be a really nice, personalised experience. Overall, this was a highly rated trip for a reason — great value and an excellent guide. I’d absolutely recommend it.

We had a great tour of stone town with Hassan; super informative without being boring, Hassan knows a lot about all the buildings we’ve visited, but is also happy to share a lot of knowledge about Zanzibars history, politics and life as a zanzibarian in general as well, flexible, not too long. Can 100% recommend :)
