Excellent service, very helpful and informative driver. Gave plenty of useful advice. We liked the fact we left our car in a (large, secure) Carpark at the end of the route and were then driven to the start mean we were not under pressure to return for a set time.

All of the staff at this shuttle are extremely kind and friendly, and our driver was very knowledgable. I would definitely recommend them! The carpark can be a little difficult to find - if you end up going down a long gravel driveway with no staff there you have gone the wrong way. They are situated on the same side of the road as the brown sign.

Car park easy to find....

Bernadette_M, Feb 2026
Car park easy to find. Extremely friendly staff. There were walking sticks st shed. Picked some up and was on shuttle at 6:50 am for 7am booking. Would highly recommend

Problem free

Bradley_S, Feb 2026
Like it says, this isn’t anything more than a one way bus ride to the hike’s start point. 5 providers share the lot and the bus too, so there’s no material difference. Pick baed on availability for your preferred time and price. Get there a bit early. When the bus is full it leaves. They’ll have another but you may wait for everyone to check in before it goes. Others park on the road or another lot. You do have to walk one more km from the end to the lot - noted if you are contemplating this or a round trip shuttle from your hotel. But all went just fine.

They cancelled my trip...

Bethany_H, Jan 2026
They cancelled my trip the day before and I have still not received a refund a week later. I have contacted them and they haven’t replied.

Awsome service

QIAN_Z, Jan 2026
As weather's condition badly on 25th and 26th Jan 2026. We didn't go and the operator of the shuttle company is very responsible to leave message to notice us the situation of the weather up on the Alpine before two days ago which is very good and avoid us had a long travel and did nothing. They response email quickly and help me to shift the date & time of my shuttle as online change was failed. The shuttle payment is fully refunded.

No customer service or weather warnings

Trent_F, Jan 2026
We were supposed to take the Tongariro shuttle to the start of the hike, and we happened to check the weather report. On the New Zealand weather site, the forecast was for temperatures of 4 degrees, rain, and heavy winds (50 kph sustained 100 kph gust). They issued a warning to NOT do the crossing; it was not safe. This alert was up for our scheduled day and the ones to follow, which means that the tour operator must have been aware of this. We looked on other tour operators and they were cancelling and refunding all trips because of the weather. We also had several other activities in New Zealand cancelled because of the weather. We did not hear anything from our tour operator, so we sent a message late afternoon the day before mentioning our concern and asking what the plan was considering the situation. They never even responded. On their website they only have a statement that you need to cancel within 24 hours and get a reduced refund. We suppose they don't care about people's safety and communicating with customers either way. It seems like you have to show at the meeting point the very same day - even when you are coming from very far away- to figure out if they would cancel the trip. By then it's too late to get any cancellation refund. If they had properly advised us we would have cancelled the trip.

I had a great experience...

I had a great experience with them! Bus driver was funny and explained much about the area and the history. Would book here again next time I do the crossing.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing...

lennert_d, Dec 2025
Tongariro Alpine Crossing was amazing. Taking the shuttle is mandatory as you cannot park close. So the actual walk was 21.5km and not 20km as indicated. Just be aware. Also the toilets on the carpark are a no go unless you want to sit among 1000 files.

Let us rearrange at short...

Andrew_M, Dec 2025
They let us rearrange at short notice when we saw the weather forecast, otherwise we'd have missed out on the hike. Well organised and ran on time.

Disappointing service

lorraineboyd17, Dec 2025
No communication from company. Drove 60km return to the pick up point but there was no one there and no signs to advise that the shuttle had been cancelled. Contact number went straight to voicemail on 2 attemprs and there was no contact when I used the chat feature on the ticket the night before. Very poor service. Would not recommend.

Easy and efficient

Stefanie_H, Dec 2025

Alexandra_F, Nov 2025
Great shuttle service. Would use them again. Just try to be on time, shuttles wont wait if you are running late.

Bus ride too expensive ...

Ravin_C, Oct 2025
Bus ride too expensive Walk was good And the weather was good No toilet paper in the toilets And unclear on how far apart are the toilets when you suggest we don’t use outdoors for toilet

Love Hiking in NZ

Michaela_M, Apr 2025
Don't go in a blizzard, pick your day. However, the walk is insane and would highly recommend it, I will be going back again on a nice day

Trip cancelled and no refund

Gwendal_C, Mar 2025
The trip was cancelled and i still have no answer for refund eventhough i wrote them 3 times already.

Driver Dave was spot on

John_E, Feb 2025
Just get the first shuttle and beat the traffic on the trail. Park at the end so you do t need to wait for the return shuttle

Convenient location. ...

Mark_B, Feb 2025
Convenient location. Busses queue up and load as you arrive. Minimal wait. Don’t forget that there is another km to get to car park from the trail end

hiking helper

Jeff_B, Feb 2025
very easy to find pick up spot, walk from end of hike back to carpark was a little over 1mile. make sure to know your car tag number and tour operator before getting on a shuttle

Very easy and convenient...

Andrew_N, Feb 2025
Very easy and convenient transport option to the start of the Tongariro Crossing. Good parking facilities. A bit pricey for a half hour bus ride though. Definitely recommend to other travellers however.

Good idea to be a few minutes early, its a very popular hike and the earlier the shuttle leaves, the better

The booking through...

Shai_B, Jan 2025
The booking through visitor was bad, The booking confirmation did not include the shuttle company name and we were delayed at the entrance.

Response from Host, Jan 2025

Kia ora, You did not book direct on our website but threw Viator which is out of our hands. As for the delay at the entrance that is why we say be there 30 minutes before departure due to the amount of vehicles checking in at the car park entrance you can understand the

The shuttle service was...

Stephanie_G, Dec 2024
The shuttle service was seamless and they had multiple shuttles running. The Tongariro Alpine Crossing day hike was incredible!

Shuttled worked as promised

LaDonna_K, Apr 2024
The shuttle delivered us from Ketetahi car park to the beginning of the hike as promised. This option seemed easiest as we were unsure the best way to park on the road, and where, exactly, another shuttle would pick us up if we were parked on the road and not in the car park. The pick-up/boarding was easy, if a little unorganized, as there were two vehicles from two different companies available. We were told to jump in either one as they "were both going to the same place". I guess that works but it was a bit confusing! The toilet was locked when we returned to the car park, which was a bummer. There was also less driver/guide commentary about the trail & national park on our drive there than what I had read about, but it was a mostly smooth experience using this service to shuttle us to the beginning of the Tongariro Crossing.

Response from Host, Oct 2024

Thank you for the feedback. Toilets are locked after hours as alot of the times people leave their rubbish behind. Apologies if it can be a little confusing, all operators in that particular Car Park try to work together. Hope you got plenty of photos.
