Amazing First Class experience with Nigel and the Tesla Model X. Nigel was a very knowledgeable guide - we had the most incredible day learning about the flora, fauna and the Fiordland National Park with little stops along the way to take in the sights; very enjoyable conversations on a wide range of topics. Very well-paced, perfectly timed and planned; from the morning tea to the tickets to the Milford Sound cruise. Nigel went ahead to board the boat first and saved the best seats for us so we didn't have to rush. No need to worry about parking either at the Milford Sound which can get really congested. We really enjoyed the day out, made really memorable by Nigel's hospitality and skilled driving in the Tesla - such a treat! Strongly recommend to anyone looking for a highly personalized and comfortable experience in the Fiordlands. Go with Nigel and not one of those large tour operators! Very good value for the money.

We booked a private Milford Sound tour with Nigel and couldn’t have been happier. We were picked up on time at our hotel in the same side-opening Tesla shown in the ad. Nigel knows all the best stops along the way and the drive to Milford Sound was incredible, with Nigel providing lots of information along the way. We stopped for a quick but amazing picnic, had many photo opportunities and saw some playful Kea birds at several stops. In such a unique vehicle I did feel we were the envy of many travelers! Once at the boat terminal, Nigel knew the staff so we received special treatment. Of course the boat tour was simply incredible, and Nigel was right there waiting went we were done. Before departing he took us to several other hidden spots for more photo ops and informative stories. The drive back was also enjoyable and we stopped at a few of the places that were too crowded on the way up. Overall this tour was so relaxing, informative and enjoyable. We couldn’t imagine doing Milford Sound any other way.
We did a private tour to visit Milford Sound. PC made this trip. He's the rare guide who's genuinely expert in everything you're looking at: geology, botany, geography, local history, and makes all of it fun. His stories from years at the Department of Conservation and living in the area added color you'd never get from a guidebook. We learned more in one day with him than we would have in a week on our own. On top of that, he's just great company.
The stops and detours were the real magic. We'd never have found them on our own, and one detour ended up being the highlight of the entire day. We also got to meet Nigel, the owner (a lovely man), and shared biscuits and coffee with him in the middle of a gorgeous valley. That's not something you get on a bus tour.
The car's panoramic roof made the scenery easy to soak in, and not having to drive the narrow, winding roads ourselves was a huge plus. Ask for PC. He's worth it.
It is an experience that you would not regret! There is so much to learn from Nigel - knowledge, facts and happenings in fiordland and landmarks. He was very thoughtful to ensure our experience was comfortable and well paced. He even went ahead to get us good seats for the boat ride. We really felt like 'superstars' in his car. No regrets at all. Thank you, Nigel!
The best way to visit Milford Sound
Our private tour from Te Anau to Milford Sound with Nigel was excellent. Travelling in his comfortable Tesla was a much better experience than being stuck on a cramped bus from Queenstown.
Nigel was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole journey interesting from start to finish. One of the biggest advantages of doing the tour this way was being able to stop at a number of lovely little spots en route that wouldn’t be possible on a bus tour. That extra flexibility made the day feel far more personal and enjoyable.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nigel’s tour to anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable way to experience Milford Sound.

It was definitely a wonderful tour despite the not so wonderful weather. Nigel was a wonderful guide and always make sure we are well situated.
Nigel was a wonderful driver and guide showing/narrating us the area up to Milford. Great stop with tea on the way and he nabbed us the perfect spot on the cruise to have our wonderful picnic lunch. A very enjoyable day.
Absolutely brilliant trip, very comfortable car and relaxed drive through stunning scenery. Our local guide John was very knowledgeable, interesting and informative and stopped at some lovely spots for short hikes off the beaten track. The boat was very comfortable and not crowded, Nigel even went aboard and reserved us seats in the upstairs lounge with the best views. Would thouroughly recommend these guys for your Milford Sound experience, what a memorable day.
We had a memorable day exploring Milford Sound with Envy Experiences. Nigel was a wonderful tour guide; he was very friendly, knowledgeable and was a safe driver. The day included exploring interesting sites along the way and his knowledge of these was very informative. Nigel timed our stops perfectly so we missed the crowds. Morning tea was also provided which was a nice touch. We would highly recommend this tour to others who want a comfortable ride and an unforgettable experience.
We had a great time exploring Milford sound. If you don't have a car or would like to just be a passenger to see everything in a nice car then I would recommend this tour.
Very pleasant trip with Nigel despite the weather. His background information was a great bonus. The umbrellas getting on and off the Milford Sound cruise was very useful with the rain.
All round it was a great day and being driven around in the Tesla X was a really threat.
Our private tour with Nigel was excellent. He picked us up at our Airbnb, explained everything along our route. He got us on a nice cruise ship only 20 people on the cruise brought us back to our Airbnb. On the way back we checked our reservation at our restaurant and he went in to make sure our reservations were set and dropped us off at our Airbnb. Couldn’t ask for anything better 😁
Jamie was a fantastic guide, he told about lots of native New Zealand birds and wildlife. He stopped at lots of interesting places where we had plenty of photo opportunities. We had amazing tea and coffee he made on a camping fire. The boat trip on Milford Sound was spectacular, fabulous boat. It was a truly wonderful experience with so many lovely extras. Definitely worth the money.

A very personal tour from Te Anau area to Milford Sound. Nigel was a great host, very knowledgeable and a great company on the car ride. We were a small group on the cruise on the day as well which made the experience even better. Do enjoy the hot morning coffee made in Nigel’s thermette 😀
Novel experience to see Milford Sound from the comfort of such a great car, the Tesla. I just thought it would be a bit of a gimmick but this is seriously innovative and stylish motoring. Best of all is Nigel who has an enormous knowledge bank - you want him on your pub quiz team! Thx Nigel for catering to our needs, educating us, taking us to the best spots and being such a pleasant person to journey with. Highly recommended.
Nigel was a great tour guide who knew the ins and outs of Te Anau and Milford Sounds. Very friendly and gave us time to digest all info that he shared. He picked us up in his superb Tesla Model X at our lodge on time and also waited for us as we checked out.
The drive to Milford Sounds was very scenic and he made stops along the way allowing us to take photos. Best part was we had most of the places we visited just to us as couple, as opposed to having tour groups.
As we arrived to Milford Sounds scenic cruise, Nigel guided us all the way in to grab best seating spot and we were the first to be in!
All in all such a great deal, glad we took this, as opposed to a bigger tour as we cherished the privacy and having time to wait and take photos on our own time. On the way back to Te Anau we slept in the car and the smooth car ride also helps!
If there was one thing that could make it greater is we wished to have at least done a short hike near some of the hiking trails.

We were staying at Te Anau. After days of driving ourselves around it was great to sit back and let our host Nigel do the driving whilst we just enjoyed the views and absorbed the commentary. Nigel has lived in the area for years so he was a great source of information. We stopped at numerous locations en route. The Milford Sound Cruise which was included in our booking was fantastic. All in all, a great day. Thanks Nigel.
Nigel was an expert tour guide and driver; he made the experience absolutely memorable and included interesting stories and information about the area. His car, Lola, was fabulous and a great way to travel in comfort and style to Milford. I highly recommend this tour as you'll get an experience you can't get in a huge coach bus or by self-driving.
Nigel’s excellent commentaries during our trip to Milford Sound enlarged our understanding of New Zealand’s history in this area and the pre-history significance of the ancient beech forests. . .and details about his Tesla along the way! Recommending Envy excursions!!!!
