My husband and I transferred from Tbilisi to Yerevan, with some scenic stops along the way. Our driver, Artak, was on time, and a safe driver. Although we had a bit of a language barrier, we were able to communicate. This is an excellent service, and Armenia is beautiful!

Karen was very friendly and helpful and got us to Yerevan in great time. We had to book late the night before after we weren't able to get our train as planned, but he was able to book us in quickly. The flexibility is great. We also really enjoyed getting to see the old town of Dilijan, Lake Sevan and Sevanavank Monastery on the way. For a short trip to the Caucuses, this was a great way to maximise our time.

The driver, Artak, was on time. He was also professional in driving - unlike most drivers in Georgia. He also assisted us with our bags on the border crossing.
Only thing that other people should know is, the lunch is a bit late so bring some snacks or eat heavy breakfast.

Our driver was excellent. We were able to take our time traveling from Tbilisi to Yerevan. We made a few sightseeing stops plus two food stops. It was nice to have time to take in the scenery along the way.

Great service at a very reasonable price. Karen was my driver and he arrived 30 minutes early from the pick up time. Very safe and experienced driver he will guide you through passport control and help you along the way. The stops were great and an added bonus if you just need a transfer between two capitals. I believe you can also skip the the tours if you want and you will make it to your destination in 4-5 hours granted passport control only took 30minutes or less like mine. I left 1030am from Tbilisi and arrived in Yerevan almost 6pm with the stops in between. Definitely recommended will hire again if needed.

Overall the experience was fine, but there was a bit of a hiccup as Karen messaged the evening before departure to tell me he was sick. So, he passed my contact information onto another driver Yura to pick me up and take me instead. Unfortunately he didn’t really speak English so it was a bit challenging to communicate. Here are a few things to consider from my experience:
- The car smelled of cigarette smoke. So if that bothers you, it would be good to confirm the vehicle ahead of time. The driver did not smoke in the car while I was in it, but as a non smoker it’s not pleasant.
- It wasn’t super clear what was happening at the border. The driver just said “Passport office” and pointed for me to get out of the car. Turns out you need to get out and go through emigration from Georgia. The driver drives through the checkpoint and waits on the other side. Then you have to do the same on the Armenian side.
- Driving in Georgia and Armenia seem to be quite aggressive. Passing on turns and hills, passing while cars are oncoming and generally speeding seem to be common and the driver drove like this for the trip. It was fine for me. But I could see that some people might get uncomfortable or worry about safety.
- The route that we took in Armenia passed along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border - which from my research is somewhere not recommended to go due to the military/security concerns related to conflict between the countries. We did not experience any issues or really encounter much of a military presence so in my case it was fine, but also something to consider.
We stopped at each of the noted tourist stops, and they were worth the visit. All said and done the trip took about 7 hours and if you want to see some of the Armenian countryside, this is a good way to do it.

Thank you very much for your feedback. The road along which you arrived in Armenia is actually very safe, the driver himself did not take risks. It was a force majeure situation, so I had to quickly find a driver because I got sick and couldn’t come for you. You’re right, driving in Georgia and Armenia differs from other countries, the main thing is that the driver’s training on such roads is different. Driver is punctual to pick up, can speak good English. However, driver keep insisted for addition tour that we have to pay in cash. Additional USD75 to add in another 2 monastery.

Thank you for your comment, But the driver didn’t insist, he only offered you an additional stop, for how long you said that you came for a short time and would like to see more sights. But you have to pay for additional services and he told you a very good price.

Karen was a excellent driver, and very kind with the flexibility. Though originally planned to visit lake savan, but it was replanned another 2 churches. Though I was not able to check my old email, he understood and added lake savan as the one of original itinerary. Indeed I was able to have 3stops accidentally but he didn’t have any questions or complaints and keep nicer until the end of trip.

The driver did not show up and was not answering the phone. After an exchange of messages with Viator's service center, the operator contacted us saying that he had not seen the reservation, but it was not his fault. However, he tells us that he will sort it out by sending another driver. We leave almost two hours late. Contrary to what was written in the tour description, the driver spoke no English, there was no wifi, and no water. We asked Viator for a partial refund, but they refused without justifying their choice or apologizing.

Karen is an excellent and safe driver. He arrived early to the hotel to pickup and was easily reachable via whatsapp for any questions before. The planned stops were good to break up the journey (Monastery and Lake Sevan) and nice to see on the way to Yerevan.
As a solo female traveller it‘s important to feel safe when travelling. Karen is a great choice if you need a transfer between Georgia and Armenia.
