The trip was very well coordinated, and I had absolutely no problem connecting from Driver to the express train and to the guide and the driver at Samarkand. Return trip was also very well coordinated. The guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. Thank you for a great experience.

Despite the logistical challenges caused by the Nowruz holiday, the travel team succeeded in getting me to Samarkand and back for a very worthwhile day trip at the end of a one week conference in Tashkent. I'm really grrateful that I was able to fit this into my visit to Uzbekistan. The travel company were very communicative and the guide was really informative.

I booked this months in advance knowing that I only had 3 days in the country. I booked this with the expectation that I would get to see Samarkand despite my short stay (I was staying in Tashkent). I woke up early and waited for the driver at 6am. No one showed up. After about 30 minutes I tried to call their office and their was no answer. I tried to message them through the Viator website - no answer. I texted them and again there was no answer. By 6.45am I gave up only to hear from the company around 7am tellng me that because they were unable to secure the train tickets the trip had been cancelled.
There was no explanation as to why I wasn't informed beforehand (naturally they would have had to book the tickets at least the day before) and I wonder now if they would have contacted me at all if I hadn't texted them first. Complete and utter waste of my time. Don't bother with these guys and save yourselves the headache.

Taxi calling at 6 a.m. instead of 7 would deter future bookings from us with viator. It caused panic and spoilt our entire day. Arrangements with our hotel for an early breakfast were aborted. The driver thought it was a huge joke. Our guide in Samarkland was excellent. She was articulate, thoughtful and demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the subject. The high marks we are awarding are based entirely on her performance. The very slow train home was a nightmare! It was packed with drunks and other undesirables. It seemed to be forever coming in to the station in Tashkent.

If you have a day available this is the tour for you as it covered all the major sites and included lunch. Guide and driver excellent, booked late as we had a spare day in Tashkent but book early to get the fast train.

It was a lovely trip and very smooth. The guides Mr. Shodiyor and the driver forgetting his name now were very good.
From the morning taxi pickup at Tashkent to the train journey and then being met by the guides for the day tour of Samarkand, everything was smooth. We loved seeing Samarkand's mosques, mausoleums and tombs with them because we just had a day there. We enjoyed the lunch in a local house. It was a perfect day from 10 to 5 in the city and then back on the train to Tashkent. The taxi driver was there in time to pick us up. We had a small problem later in Tashkent because we needed Uzbek currency in cash and there was difficulty in finding a place where we could withdraw either Uzbek currency or exchange US dollars and because of language issues we could not communicate clearly with the driver on the directions to a place close to our hotel to withdraw the cash. He was a good person and helpful but I think either he did not know the routes well in Tashkent or it was a communication problem because of language. We ended up driving a bit around Tashkent because of this...
