Sossusvlei and Sesriem adventure

Our guide, Winston picked us up promptly from our guest house in swakopmund, gave us a brief review of day’s activities. We selected our lunch at a local grocery store”shop” then drove out east into the desert. We were introduced to various lichen, the welwichia plant, canyons, various rock formations. It was the rainy season and the seasonal grasses were evident in the landscape which we were told was very unusual. We even forded rushing rivers. Sesriem canyon was full of water, sossusvlei and especially dead valley was eerily beautiful. The dunes were magnificent and climbing dune 45 was a good experience ( go barefoot!) we were also fortunate to have some cloud cover which kept the temperatures from being oppressively hot. Winston has a lovely sense of humor, kept us well informed about geology, fauna and flora. We did see ostrich, oryx, a prairie dog, zebra , butterflies and an interesting bask beetle. Overall, a worthwhile adventure. Thank you Winston.

Magnifique excursion de 2 jours à Sossusvlei. Guide attentif et expérimenté. Nuit dans l’exceptionnel Moon Mountain Lodge avec sa vue idéale sur le coucher de soleil. Repas inclus de qualité.
