Cairo is a beautiful city. Of course, the pyramids and the Spynx were the highlights of the tour. Our guide and driver were outstanding and we give them 5 out of 5 stars

Making the best of a difficult situation

I want to commend both Mohammeds (tour guide and driver) for doing the tour under adverse conditions. The cruise ship was late getting into the harbor and once we got of the boat we had to wait 2 hours to leave the port. The placed us 4 hours behind schedule for a 12 hour tour give it is a 2 hour drive to Cairo from the port. However, we were able to make it to see the pyramids, gets some food and gifts and get back to the ship. Although we did not get a chance to see the meusem and other sites because of time we were able to see the pyramids. It would have be terrible to come this far and not see one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. Our experience was great. The tour guide was knowledgeable and kind. He made the best of the limited time we had. The driver was awesome getting us back to the ship on time after driving very hard to give us some type of experience given the circumstances. We were very grateful for their efforts but which we could have seen more; but it was not their fault.

Cairo with limited time

We had a good day overall. Ahmed Essam was our guide and gave us a huge amount of history and information on all of our stops. The pyramids were of course the highlight. It’s a long journey from the cruise port to Cairo and they were very accommodating when we asked for a bathroom stop. I only gave them a 4 because we were very rushed at the end, at the museum- which honestly would have been where I would have preferred to spend more time. There was alot of “set up” for those instagram type photos and had I known how the timeline on the day was going to go… I would have opted for a whole lot less of that. When we saw the camels, the guide said we could ride them, which we did not because I felt it would take alot of time out of our day, and looking back on that- I can’t imagine even being able to go in the museum if we had. We stopped at a great lunch location and the food was delicious. If you are considering this tour I would be aware of your time limits and make sure you make it clear what is a priority to you. I’m sure they would accommodate but not knowing the logistics and timeline for the day and how much time was allocated in each spot, I couldn’t make those decisions. Another concern- our guide left us with the driver Sajed Taha to return us to the port. The driver spoke zero English and we ran into a minor issue on our bathroom break. We couldn’t communicate to purchase drinks. He tried to help and was very nice but we just had a language barrier. No big deal. We also ran into a massive traffic jam- which our driver was very skillful at maneuvering thru, but we had a deadline on returning to the ship and we had no way to communicate with the driver about. It all worked out and we enjoyed our day. It was a private tour and I would book again but with an understanding of where my time would be spent.

We did a day tip from Port Said to Giza. This was a private tour with a guide and driver. The Great Pyramid and the Great Sphinx of Giza were truly amazing as was the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. We were provided a nice car and the chauffeur did an excellent job driving to all destinations. We liked our guide, however, he English was poor. Although his knowledge appeared to be good on the history of ancient Egyptian civilization, it was extremely difficult to comprehend what he was saying. Honestly we did not experience the benefits of having a guide because of his poor English skills.

En Port Said con Careem nos sentimos muy inseguras . Casi al principio del tour empezó a hablar de la guerra que se estaba desatando en Medio Oriente , sin saber nosotras mucha información. Pasaba mucho tiempo en su celular viendo vídeos. Su explicación durante todo el recorrido fue muy pobre. Inclusive llegó a molestarse porque en Guiza queríamos un poco más de tiempo y más explicación. Estaba muy molesto. Y después en el museo antiguo no nos explicaba casi nada, solamente nos decía que leyéramos nosotras las explicaciones. La verdad es muy poco recomendable este guía , es una pena que hayamos venido de tan lejos y pagado a alguien con tan poca información.
