Very good tour for the cost. The only complaint was the van we were in had musty smell and black mold on interior ceiling and walls. Very uncomfortable for my asthma. Guide was very good and the overall tour was well done.

Mostly a panoramic tour with only a couple of spots to get out of the vehicle. Vehicle not really suited to a Panoramic tour if at or near capacity. Guide Neil & Driver Robert were knowledgeable and helpful

Hello
Thanks for reviewing, you were part of a cruise group which means these tours on these days are fully subscribed and we have to rent mini buses from the one local provider. Oban is rural Scotland and we are hours away from other providers. That said it was the pride of his fleet.
Because your cruise ship tenders across to oban port and inevitably not everyone is early we have to be strict with timings to meet our obligations with seafood provider. I will look into what improvements we can make and take action for next cruise ship meetings.
But may I suggest that you may want to consider booking a private tour on shore land expeditions you will find much more flexibility and comfort.

Well told stories that gave an insight to the history of the local clans, which were placed into context by viewing the relevant landmarks.

Had a wonderful historical trip around the city of Oban. Gus, was our guide and he was wonderful, full of knowledge. Seafood meal at the end was a perfect way to end the tour.

Charlie was amazing! Communicated well in advance, so knowledgeable and met our individual requests.
CHARLIE is outstanding!

Robert was a decent guide. He knew the history but lacked the overall depth of details. Having said that we enjoyed the tour very much. The van held 12 ‘crammed’ passengers. The lunch was on the pier at some picnic benches, which was fine since it was a good weather day. The food was good.

Thanks Keith, Robert very kindly came in last minute as the normal guide fell seriously ill and other guides committed on other tours and Robert is still learning fast more of Scottish and local history. We normally do this tour with a modern mini van with no more than 7. But you were part of a cruise ship and in order not to disappoint I hired a minibus. On cruise days I’m looking to see if we can split the tour up with two runs or two mini vans.

We had such a wonderful time on our historical tour near Oban with Gus and would absolutely LOVE to have him as our guide again. He picked us up on time and was very accommodating of our two children. He shared the rich history of many sites while making it fun for the kiddos. Do yourself a favor and book this tour today… you will not be disappointed!

We absolutely loved this. It was our second day really going out and exploring Scotland and we were lucky enough to get a tour guide that has been a local for a long time. Campbell helped us experience Scotland like a local. He was able to answer everything we asked about all of the places he showed us and was so easy to get along with. When we were in town, it seemed like he knew everyone! It was so incredible to be able to know Oban past the touristy stuff. Campbell introduced us to a local business owner for the seafood portion of the trip and we were treated like we were family. The tour was fabulous and we saw some truky breathtaking views that we will remember forever. I would give more than 5 stars if I could!

Driven to see around Obin when you do not have a car. Gavin was informative and receptive to our questions. Thank you.

So much history explained with a depth of knowledge of Oban. Amazing ancient castles and beautiful Kirk with Scottish scenery.
The tour finished back at the dock for a welcoming dram of whisky and awonderful seafood lunch.

Charlie (our tour guide) was fantastic! He was knowledgeable and fun !
We felt that we saw everything and more!
Our seafood lunch was a great way to end a fantastic tour. Gordon at the seafood restaurant was a bonus! I hope to return to Oban

30 minutes or more late starting due to schedule confusion with other guests and changing the vehicle. Sights and road closed , missed or paths too ‘wet’ to explore. Not sure we got 3 hours as the 10:00 am began about 10:45 and we were dropped off at 1pm so the guide could pick up the couple who missed the 10am. That was a bit confusing.

What a wonderful trip we had!! Daryl was our guide and he sets the bar for excellence. His knowledge of the area and history was amazing!! Saw far more than we expected and the delicious lunch was fantastic!! Definitely is a must do

Our guide and driver were friendly and knowledgeable! They were helpful and tried to accommodate everyone's needs. Tour was nicely paced with ample time to explore the stops, ask questions, and take pictures. Would highly recommend!

I will start by saying that Gavin was an excellent tour guide. He's very knowledgeable and answered any and all questions. The tour is very thorough and interesting. Our only complaint is that we thought this was a private tour with only us. We were disappointed to find it was with a large group from our ship. Your information states "This is a private tour/activity. Only your group will participate". Although we were all on the Windstar cruise we were not traveling together. Another couple we talked with expressed the same concern. So, I recommend this tour but be aware that you may be sharing the tour with others
Response from Host, Jun 2024
This tour is a public tour for small groups mostly of no more than 12. For the price you paid there is no economical way to do it otherwise. You can if you like book a private tour but it will be more expensive

The driver was very knowledgeable and there were several interesting stops. I particularly enjoyed Dunstaffnage Castle and the Scottish cattle. We also enjoyed the seafood at the end. I wished we had spent more time viewing the ancient stones in Kilmartin Glen. FYI This was booked as a private excursion but there was a total 14 passengers in the mini van. Even so it was a good experience and worth the price.

Daryl was an absolutely fantastic guide! We had such a great day with him. He really went above and beyond to make our experience as memorable as possible! Unfortunately there was a serious car accident so we had to be rerouted as the road was closed, but Daryl made the best of it and we got to stop off at the Fairy pools! Highly recommend this tour and Daryl!

We loved the The “hairy Coos” and the. Kirk!Loved the driver’s stories!
A wonderful way to learn Scottish history.

Our tour guide Heather was absolutely amazing. Her knowledge of the history of the surrounding areas of Oban in addition to her own personal experience as an archaeological student and forager gave such a wonderfully rich tour full of neat facts and surprises along the way. 10/10 would recommend!

Martin was a fun and interesting tour guide. We loved St Kirk’s and the castles. The country side was beautiful.
