Erika is very nice. She goes into the camp memorial with you and guides your around. She will even stop at a store of bakery on the way back. A very moving experience. Never forget!

I booked a tour for eight people. Very comfortable ride to and from this site to our river ship cruise docking location. Our driver got us into the site, got us established with audio guide equipment, but then said that he could not function as a guide. The audio guide to the 23 locations in the site worked fine, allowed my group to split up and cover areas of interest. The booking is for a comfortable ride to the site and entry with the audio equipment to listen to the recorded history of the camp. Do not expect a person to “guide” you through the camp.

Avoid - this is a taxi service only NOT a private tour

Avoid, avoid, avoid. This item description is knowingly misrepresented by the tour operator. They state "private tour" yet it is simply a private taxi. They state that "admission is included in the price" yet admission is free. They state that "audio guides are included in the price" yet these audio guides are downloadable for free from the google play store. Oh and the guide, yes well oura did not soeak a word of English and so we had to pay for a further guide once we got there. Even after telling the tour company over and over again that we would be arriving by our own transport and would meet them in the car park of the facility, they continued to push us away from the location insisting that they collected us at the train station in Linz. Thinking then as you would that this was probably because it is a tour, we accepted and indeed were collected at the train station some 30mins drive from the facility. What next, well, no tour, just a taxi to the facility and that was it. Completely miss sold and so please. If you have your own transport please avoid. Entrance is free, audio guides are free and this is NOT a tour, just a taxi service and a VERY expensive one at that. After requesting a refund from the tour company, they refused and became very argumentative and continued to lie, get details incorrect and misrepresent themselves further. As such, i had no other choice but to contact Viator who secured a partial refund within the hour. Don't waste your energy on this misleading advert.

Hello Luke, Your description is incorrect. I sent you the link to the concentration camp right at the beginning, after you said you were coming by car, and asked if we could meet up and go with you and help the guide. Unfortunately, I didn't receive a reply from you. Shortly before the appointment, I was very busy that week, so I didn't read through the conversation because I was still waiting for a reply. We also had another tour that day. I confused you with another tour and then sent you the link to the train station. You only mentioned you were coming by car, when I thought you were arriving in Linz by train. You didn't say you wanted to go directly to the concentration camp. In Mauthausen you can download the app or buy an audio guide. We always help with setting things up and then we go on the tour of the concentration camp too, because we found it's not that easy to find all the stations in the right order. It's easier with the app as you can see the route. In the concentration camp the English-speaking guide asked you if you wanted to come along. There were very few people on this tour, so you had to pay for the guide yourself, because we only had the audio guide. Of course it says that the entrance fee is included, otherwise they always ask how much the entrance fee is. I didn't see it written anywhere that we have an English-speaking guide, just an audio guide. It also clearly states that we will pick you up from Linz. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear to you. When you contacted me about a discount, you wanted €250 back, otherwise you'd give me a bad review (I get €280 after deducting the fee). I offered to pay for the guide, which isn't included in the package, but you didn't want that. We've done many tours, unfortunately not all with reviews, but something like this has never happened before. Everyone who booked knew that an audio guide was included, and everyone was happy that we were going along. Unfortunately, you wouldn't listen. lg Erika

Great high class experience

My father made a promise to himself when he was young that he would visit a concentration camp. While not usually a ‘happy’ type of experience to walk through we had an incredible opportunity to set up a private tour with Wolfgang who was a brilliant historian full of information, stories and passion for sharing. We had a wonderful time and found things to be extremely informative and interesting. The trip will be remembered for a lifetime. Our driver was flexible, on time and patient, he even drove through some sights of downtown linz for us so we felt like we got a sense of the Town. would highly recommend. Thank you

Mauthausen was sobering but well worth the visit. All the books in the world can’t compare to seeing and visiting. The exhibition was very well done and our guide Thomas was amazing!
