This is a VERY long boat ride! We boarded at about 11:30 and only finally got to the snorkeling site after 2 pm. We did stop at Balandra beach and get out for a bit so that was nice. But it was a long ride to the island tip. The ride back was more like 90 min bc we had the wind at our backs. The snorkeling was ok- sea lions are definitely in abundance. Some fish too. But not super abundant. And we had to keep our life vests on so it was actually hard to truly snorkel. The beach where we had lunch was great and the ceviche was delicious. We didn’t stay longer than an hour- maybe windy conditions altered our time? Overall it was a LOT of boat time and only a little shore or snorkeling time. You should know that going in. The staff was lovely and competent.

Hola. yes it is 40km to Islotes on the north end of the island and the largest colony of sea lions in the Sea of Cortez. Regulations require all to wear lifejackets during this activity and we are all limited to 30 minutes in the area. We try our best to explain all the details and timeframes we are restricted to while we are in the National Park and other protected areas we visit. All permitted boats are subject to these same regulations to operate under the Local Mexcian Authorities.
We have amazing staff who all love what they do and to share this amazing place we are lucky to live in.
