Our tour with John was absolutely incredible! He picked us up from our resort right on time and greeted us with such warmth that we immediately felt at ease. Throughout the day, he made every guest feel genuinely seen and respected.
John’s knowledge of the history, geology, and wildlife of Washington Slagbaai National Park is remarkable. I left with a deep appreciation for this unique and beautiful area of Bonaire. His ability to blend intelligence, hospitality, and humor made the experience engaging from start to finish. We also had plenty of opportunities to take photos, and any time I attempted a selfie, John was already there offering to capture an even better shot of me and my husband.
The day began with coffee or tea, a light breakfast snack, and a visit to the museum—an excellent introduction to the park’s story. Then we set out in a military‑grade vehicle, which added a fun and adventurous touch to the journey. The landscape came alive through John’s explanations. Even if you researched beforehand, driving the park on your own simply wouldn’t compare—there’s so much you’d miss without a guide like him.
Snorkeling at Wayaka Beach was another highlight. The water was stunning, and once again, John had fresh water and snacks waiting for us afterward.
Lunch was a lovely picnic at the Old Harbor and Historic Buildings. The food was great, and we never felt rushed—neither while snorkeling nor during our meal. Our group required two vehicles, but John and his colleague worked seamlessly together to keep the tour flowing comfortably.
Washington Slagbaai National Park is truly special, and having a knowledgeable guide makes all the difference. You absolutely get your money’s worth with this experience. I’m sure there are many good guides on the island, but John is exceptional. You would be lucky to book him. My husband and I still talk about this tour—don’t pass it up!

I was a solo traveler and the only American but like someone else stated in a prior review John did the tour in both English and Dutch. I always felt comfortable and even sat in the front because I do get motion sickness. I only took one Dramamine. It’s definitely hot so bring water plus they have water and a light lunch and tea and coffee with a snack. I learned a lot about Bonaire today. I am glad I went on this excursion. I would recommend it to a friend.

We had an incredible adventure on this 4x4 tour. The experience took us through a stunning variety of landscapes, from cactus-filled terrain and rugged rocky areas to strikingly beautiful views and crystal-clear waters.
Along the way, we saw flamingos, exotic birds, iguanas, and even heard the unique calls of local wildlife, making the journey feel even more immersive and authentic. The changing colors of the water were absolutely breathtaking, especially near the snorkeling spots where the sea turned into vivid shades of turquoise and deep blue.
The snorkeling itself was a highlight—crystal-clear water with great visibility and a peaceful, untouched feel. Every stop along the way offered something different and memorable.
Our guide, Eddy, was exceptional: thoughtful, knowledgeable, and genuinely service-oriented. They made sure everyone was comfortable, informed, and enjoying the experience throughout the day.
Overall, this was a fantastic mix of adventure, nature, and relaxation. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the area in a fun and unique way.

When the day started out, I wasn't sure I made the right decision to book this excursion. We were the only English speaking people in the vehicle, and because we were picked up last, we only had the option of sitting in the closed front seat. I almost cancelled, and our guide, John, talked me into staying. And boy am I glad I did. First off, everyone in the vehicle agreed to have John speak English for the day, so there was no language issue. Everyone was super welcoming and we never felt like the Third Wheels. Sitting in the front with John felt like a private tour. We saw so much in one day and learned things we never would have known if we had done this tour on our own. So much about the history, the culture, the geography, the economy, and the ecology of Bonaire. The stops were glorious and the timing was spot on -- just enough time at each location. Lunch was delicious as well. I have absolutely no complaints about this excursion and it was worth every dime. And John --- if you are reading this, thank you. You truly made me feel like family. Hope you enjoyed the Cheez-Its! With love from "The Americans" -- Elisabeth and Bill

The park itself is a must see. The guide from Adventure Bonaire was fantastic (John)!! HOWEVER, Adventure Bonaire completely dropped the ball. They never confirmed a pickup time until I wrote to them the day before. Then THEY NEVER SHOWED UP even though I received confirmation and tickets from Viator AND confirmation from Adventure Bonaire the day before. It resulted in a waste of vacation time (waited 1 1/2 hours, and called with no answer, frustration AND additional cost to rent a car so we did not waste the entire day. We ended up rescheduling on the last day of our vacation. Not a well run business. DO see this park with a tour group. DO NOT use Adventure Bonaire if you want it to go smoothly. However, again, the tour guide himself was good.

The views were breathtaking. Our guide was friendly, funny, and very knowledgeable of the park and history of Bonaire. The snorkeling was also beautiful. I would highly recommend doing this park on a guided tour.

The Park is interesting and beautiful, and the tour gives you an opportunity to see many places at a good pace and with useful comments from the guide. A good snorkeling stop is included. You will see flamingos, too. Well organized, professional, friendly, strongly recommended.

We really enjoyed our tour with Bonaire Adventure Makers. Eddy our guide was exceptional. He clearly loves what he does and his passion for the Island shows through. He has colorful stories, lots of knowledge on the history and also local intel. We had a small rental car and after reading various reviews agree 100% that doing a tour is the way to go. We would have definitely not have been able to navigate the roads in the park as they are at times challenging. Our snorkel stop was a perfect intermission and a great way to cool down and rinse off the dust. Lunch was tasty and water, sodas, wine and beer were offered as beverages. We learnt so much and it was a great day out and totally stress free as everything is done for you. Eddy really made our day and it has definitely been our highlight on this trip.

Glad we did the guided tour vs doing it on our own. Our tour guide, Eddie, was awesome. He was very knowledgeable and taught us things about the island, it's people, animals and plants. He also made extra stops along the way to tell about certain things. Great experience!!
lhider, Mar 2026
Our guide Eddie was wonderful and provided so much information about the island and its history. We enjoyed every stop, especially the snorkeling which was the best we have seen so far in Bonaire. The provided food and drinks were great. Highly recommend this tour!

Great overview of the park, fun guide Eddy. Fun to visit the blowhole, see both coasts, hear the history, etc. Only comment is that I was in the back of a bumpy jeep, lots of potholes, more uncomfortable than I expected even though I knew the roads would be rough. (I’m seeing my chiropractor Monday!)

We had a great time. Learned a lot. Much better than driving ourselves.
Always enjoy Eddy’s stories.
Shraga_B, Feb 2026
Very reasonable price.
The guide, Eddy was very good and knowledgeable.
He stuck to the schedule and the pickup and drop-off were right on time
Tanja_S, Jan 2026
The tour was amazing, I enjoyed every minute of it. Eddy was very much on time for the pick-up at my hotel, he did the commentary in English and Dutch, in a very amusing way. I learned a lot and am glad to have done this tour. Would highly recommend to get to places of the island you would otherwise only see with your own car.

It's a great way to travel the National Park, you don't have to worry about your car and don't have to look for the road. Food, Drinks and Drop-off is included, wich Safes a lot of money. You See Places you would probably miss and get a lot of extra Information. The Guids excatly know where to stay and Keep you safe.
10/10 best view i have seen so far!
Alan_B, Dec 2025
Great way to experience the park without having to drive. You get to look at things instead of the road while having everything explained to you. The snorkeling stop seemed short at first but then you're on Bonaire and probably going to be snorkeling a lot elsewhere. Lunch was good and the beer was cold! Our guide John was amusing and passionate about the nature in the park.
Lela_M, Nov 2025
The description of the tour was misleading: it said we would snorkel twice, and we would take a hiking trip. We were only given a snorkeling option twice and there was no hiking (in fact, our guide declared "who would want to hike in this sun" - as if sun is not a frequent thing on tropical island). Several other people in our group commented on misleading description of this trip and I hope they also leave the corresponding reviews. In addition to that, our tour guide started on a wrong foot with me telling me rudely something like "open your ears to listen more attentively" when I asked him about something I hadn't understood. This upset my husband a lot and I tried for a long time to calm him down saying this tour guide didn't know any better. Actually he should know how to talk to the customers, especially after working with customers for as many years as he was telling us. He also claimed he was humble and had his way with people but we didn't observe these qualities in him that much. And another huge issue was that the tour guide spoke more Dutch to the Dutch members of our group than English to the rest of us. If the tour is in two languages, it needs to be put into the description. Overall the tour was ok but I wouldn't recommend others spending 7 hours on it.

Eddy our guide entertained and educated us while we bumped up and down in his trusty jeep along the dirt roads of the National park.
That is until we spring a flat tire, he had us back in the road shortly after. We had the best snorkel experience on the excursion. Saw huge parrot fish, like everywhere the coral has died. If you like nature, birds, flamingos this is the excursion you should not miss.

Amazing tour with an amazing guide!
Next to some history plenty of lovely spots to capture, if you are in Bonaire its a must do!
Melissa_Y, Oct 2025
This tour was informative and enjoyable! We appreciated being picked up at our hotel and the excursion being narrated in both English and Dutch. We were able to visit the most notable points in the park, and even stopped at a beautiful beach location for swimming/snorkeling. Serving lunch, snacks, and drinks was also a nice touch. Both of our tour guides were accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly. A memorable experience that was definitely worth it!

Pay the $$. You cannot do this tour alone in a rental.
Eddy was great. Picked us up at the hotel and dropped us off after. His vehicle was basically a modified military 6x6. And boy were we happy to be in it
There was rain the night before and the big truck traversed the dirt roads and mud puddles with no issues. Couldn't imagine trying that in a rental on my own.
Great history/geology/biology experience. Plus we got lunch and 2 great snorkeling opportunities.
Totally worth the $$.

Eddy was an amazing guide. We learned all about the Island, its history and future. Wonderful trip through the park. Snacks and lunch provided- also excellent. Small group so we all go to know each other. Snorkel spot was the best with 3ft parrot fish!! A must do for an amazing day on Bonaire.
Linda_C, Jul 2025
From resort pick-up to resort drop-off, the tour was amazing. The park is absolutely beautiful. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the island overall (its histiry, people, culture, places to go, and of course it's nature).
Geniece_L, Jun 2025
We had a fantastic experience on the Washington Slagbaai National Park Tour! The variety of activities kept things interesting—from dramatic coastal views and wildlife spotting to a relaxing snorkeling stop that ended up being a highlight of our day. Lunch was also great and gave us a chance to refuel before continuing. What we especially appreciated was the flexibility to opt in or out of different activities—perfect for a mixed group with varying energy levels. The wind was strong at times, but honestly, it helped keep the day cool and comfortable. Our guide, Eddy, was friendly, knowledgeable, and very safety-conscious, which made us feel well taken care of throughout the trip. If you're looking for a way to explore a wilder side of Bonaire without having to drive the rugged park roads yourself, this tour is a perfect choice!

Eddie was a great tour guide and spoke to us with care and knowledge. He explained the history around the park and showed us different types of trees. The park was very pretty and each sight was beautiful. The souvenir store was small but had a lot of nice items which we purchased. Lunch was also good - bread, deli meats, salad and fruit. We would recommend this tour to people. Thank you for guiding and driving us around the park.
Amy_F, May 2025
Amazing tour that you can’t do alone. Pace and schedule is all timed well. Incredible sights and entertaining tour guide! Snorkeling was out of this world for a raw beginner!
Note only a few bathroom stops at beginning and end of tour due to rural nature. Bring a huge bottle of your own water because you will need it.
Bina_C, May 2025
Excellent trip, well-organised. Good guides? Looked after everyone. Explained what we were going to see, very knowledgeable. Felt very comfortable with them.
NeetarNeet, May 2025
Wonderful experience from the pickup at hotel through the trip to park and return. Prompt, friendly driver provides transport from hotel to park, with great narration along the way pointing out historic highlights and nature. Once at park, guide provides food and water , drives to different areas where you walk to sites and enjoy the natural phenomenon.
The snorkeling is fantastic. Great equipment provided . Walk down stairs to a somewhat quiet bay, with a sandy beach entrance. Fro there you follow the sand trail at your leisure to enjoy the many fishes and the coral. One of the best snorkeling areas we’ve experienced.
After drying off a bit, it’s off to lunch. Lunch was very healthy, delicious, and plentiful. After lunch, you continue on the trail, seeing nature with the guide pointing out highlights and taking photo stops along the way. At the end of this part of the drive in particular, you are very glad you could just sit back and enjoy the experience while someone else did the driving.
Potty stops at beginning, end, and at lunch spot. Bring dry clothes to change into a lunch, a towel to wrap yourself in after snorkeling and before lunch.

Loved it! Our tour guide was fantastic. He was very engaging and you could tell that he really loved what he did, his home and the people. We're so happy that we went on this excursion. Learned alot about the island. Highly recommended
