Itinerary

Begin your private tour with morning pickup from your hotel in Kandy. Depending on the size of your group, you will either transport in a private car or minivan (tour can accommodate up to eight travelers).

Your first stop is at the Nalanda Gedige, an ancient Dravidian temple that blends Hindu and Buddhist elements. Tour the temple with your guide, and then drive to Euphoria Spice and Herbal Gardens.

Upon arrival, tour the gardens; learn about the local plants and their culinary and medicinal uses from your guide as you go. Then, watch a cooking demo that puts the plants to good use and eat lunch (own expense).

Transfer to the religious complex at Aluvihara, a famous site in Buddhism constructed atop a matrix of cave systems. Climb through the rocks to see the insides of the caves and learn about their history and significance.

Before returning to Kandy, take a detour to Sembuwatta Lake for a good view of the sunset. Return to your hotel at the end of your tour.
