Our guide and driver Janaka is super friendly and knowledgeable. His knowledge of the local areas we visited elevated our experience! He was with us through most of the attractions but gave us equal amounts of time to ourselves.

It is very customizable. Drop what you don’t want to do. Be prepared, as seems to be the way with this type of tour agency, you will be shown how things are made our done and then they want you to buy$$$! They will try, but you can say No!

This is a rewarding day involving a lot of driving and climbing. Climbing to the top of the ancient city on the rock is a challenge that is worth the effort to understand the history.

Great driver but beware the wording.
Booked a trip to Lion Rock (knew we had to pay entrance fee) but as said lunch, and elephant safari inc. not the case so skipped safari, had lunch which driver paid (paid him back though) then back to hotel. It would have been cheaper to get a taxi as this trip was a taxi only excursion.

I enjoyed the trip. It was really time effective, as we did everything planned: Dambulla, Sigiriya and Minneriya National Park. Even managed to do some extra, in particular a small herbal garden on the way. And a nice lunch near Sigiriya, of course. Also I travelled alone, so it was sort of a personal guided tour, in a nice air conditioned car.
The driver, Janaka, was a really pleasant person, and shared a lot of information about Sri Lanka, its history and culture on the way. I met many different guides in the past, but not all of them were so attentive to the clients and did their job with such dedication.
In short, everything was as promised at the tour webpage, and I am really satisfied:)

This was an amazing trip!
We chose to only see Sigiriya rock and the elephants on the safari. Both were excellent experiences with friends, and well worth the money and knowledge shared by our guides.
Our driver, Lahiru, was also very helpful and kind (and an excellent, safe driver).
Make sure to bring lots of Sri Lankan rupees cash. This nearly caught us out when paying for the safari.

This was the most fun, nice, and professional driver/guide I had during my stay in Sri Lanka. He went out of the way to be accommodating and spend time with me as I was traveling alone and I felt very relaxed and got to see some amazing places in Sigiriya, Dambulla, and the elephant national park.

The places to visit are well worth it. However, we did not get a guided tour. We received a driver with very little knowledge of the sites in question.
The curry lunch was delicious.
I think the tour was overpriced for what we received.

mahaweli tours contacted us after booking and the day before the tour. So I wasn't worried at all. Also, due to a private tour he was able to make some requests and be flexible. The driver was very cute and had no problems with English, and the lunch was authentic and wonderful.

AMAZING TRIP. First and foremost, we had the kindest and most knowledgeable guide, Mr. Janaka. He treated us like family and was able to answer all our questions about history. The rides from one place to another were very comfortable and he was able to advise us of the best times to check things off of our itinerary. We stopped for fresh Mango juices after the Cave Temple cause we needed a refresh considering the endless steep steps you have to go to. Im not the most fit person but i could do it. The highlight of the trip was the safari. The organizer suggested Eco Park instead of what’s on the itinerary as it was more budget friendly and advised that the chances of spotting elephants were better. And that it was, it was magical.

I had high expectations for this trip as it had so many five star reviews but it was a bit disappointing. We did each trip sure, like the rock and the spice garden but it wasn't a tour. The guide just picked us up and didn't really say anything the whole time, then just told us to go into each place ourselves, we didn't really get any history of anything or "tour" at all. Just being dropped off at each place and that's it, the driver barely said a word to us. Not sure I'd recommend it to someone else. We started the tour at 11 and we had to ask around 3 what was happening with lunch as it wasn't mentioned from the driver, he said if we want we can get food after the rock, we just wish we were told beforehand that it was more of a late dinner thing if we wanted, as we were absolutely starving by 4pm. The spice garden was okay, the silk shop was just them showing a silk demonstration on a TV, the temple was nice but we got slightly lost as the guide just dropped us off, the rock was beautiful however.

Firstly, we must mention that our driver was exceptional. He was so lovely and his English was amazing. We absolutely cannot fault him for our experience.
There are 2 main reasons for such a poor rating.
The first is the price. This tour is so expensive and when we totalled up how much we spent during the day it was over S$400! This is more than we have spent on any day throughout our travels to Thailand, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The tour alone was a lot of money but every activity we went to included a new tour guide and an additional fee. The spice garden was ‘included’ but we had to tip several staff members and reluctantly buy very expensive products. Arguably, we could have opted out of this but we wanted to be respectful of the locals livelihood and you are left with very little choice in the moment. Lions rock was expensive and the safari was well overpriced compared to other competitors online.
The second reason for the poor rating was because a 6 - 9 hour tour was over 13 hours long. We arrived back to our hotel at 8:30pm tired, starving, sunburnt and absolutely exhausted. We were provided one meal throughout the 13 hour day and there wasn’t an option for us to buy an extra meal. It said that bottled water was included but I’m not sure that this was communicated with our lovely guide as he did not have any.
Don’t get me wrong, the activities were amazing! The elephant safari, the temples and lunch was Exceptional! A lovely local lady cooked us the most delicious Sri Lankan cuisine and it was one of the best parts of the day.
BUT this day should not have cost so much money and you can definitely find a cheaper way of doing it. Please look for alternative options and avoid booking this tour at such a high cost.
Thank you to our guide for being wonderful, we hope that he got a good proportion of the money.

Dambulla and Sigiriya tour was great, very well organized by Mr. Geesara. The guide Mr. Gilanka was very friendly at all times, a very good driver and the tour went perfectly. The tour included lunch and the big surprise was that it took place in the jungle in a traditional wood and clay cottage attended by two ladies who cooked in front of us. The food was delicious and I had an incredible experience. I am very pleased to have done this and other tours with this agency and look forward to doing so in the future when I return to Sri Lanka. I also recommend it to other tourists because they will not regret the experience.

I do not write reviews often, but this was one of the best tours I have ever experienced. My guide/driver, Nilanka, was warm, genuine, and friendly. He picked me up from Kandy in the early morning, and safely transferred me from site to site, including Dambulla caves, Sigiriya, a traditional village lunch, and an Elephant Jeep safari. Each experience was magical. Highly recommend!

Chinthaka was a great guide: he was friendly and helpful throughout the trip. He made the adjustments to the route according to our enquiries too.

It was a day filled with various activities. Our highlight was the safari. Rathnayake was our driver and was doing his best to give us the best experience. Keep in mind that all together the entrance fees are $80 and the 30 dollars at the Sigiriya Rock and the $ 35 for the safari can only be paid in cash!
