Charming family in a village just outside Kandy.Matriarch Nandi was kind and assiduous in showing me how to make coconut milk, rice, daal and various kinds of vegetable curry. I was the only customer but Sudesh picked me up on the dot of nine and brought me to his family house. I learned a lot about different Sri Lankan vegetables- never knew you could eat loofah! She also ran through all the different flavourings such as garlic,ginger, and an array of spices. We made in total nine dishes and poppadums,and was then encouraged to eat them all,as well as dessert pancakes! Highly recommend if you want to learn more about SL cooking - significantly different to Indian- and/ or enjoy eating.
