Luxor Road Trip

Our driver was Mohammed. He was excellent, particularly on the road between Qena and Luxor where there were lots of hazards. A less assured driver would make it a trying journey. Abdul was our guide. He gave us a lot of information and then guided us for the first 30 minutes or so at each site then we had time to ourselves. We took about an extra hour at each which is an advantage of a private tour. The sites themselves are incredible - especially the tombs at the Valley of the Kings, we visited an extra tomb, Rameses V/VI for 100EP as recommended by Abdul (and Lonely Planet). Both lunches were excellent with the boat trip to the "island" a nice change of scene. The hotel was good (Nile Palace), we had a courtyard room so worth trying to blag a Nile view if you can. Breakfast had good variety and you can sit outside on the Nile, watching the hot air balloons, to eat it.
